Accoutrements! I never thought I'd read that word on an automotive forum. Good one!

BTW, for those wondering, the new TSX is practically all but confirmed for launch around April-May 08. You'll see the launch at Geneva Auto Show in March and hopefully more spy pics before then!

When I was reading road test reviews and such, one of a few things that consistently got said, repeatedly, was that the TSX was an upscale fun to drive car comparable to its competitors in accoutrements, fit, finish, and driveability, but with a significant savings. Making it, ahem (thumps desk), a superior value. One review of the RSX was titled "Champagne performance on a beer budget." Again, you could be 100% right about the performance and configuration and how it lines up with Bimmers, Audis, VWs, et al, but if the invoice price then increases to match those, the TSX loses this important sales advantage. Wave your hands all you like, guys, but TCO is something the TSX has the lead in.
Oh absolutely. There's no doubt that Acura still must still present the value argument over whatever car it lines up against. That's what it has done with every one of its cars, from NSX to Integra.

Just remember that the 135i is smaller than the Civic coupe inside. It is pretty much a 2 seater.

Other than that, it's a nice coupe for $40,000.

Although the 135i & 335i (same motor) are advertised as 300hp, this can't be to the Wheels. Reason, stock 335i (on DynoJet ) runs mid-270's HP to the wheels (Source - http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW--335i-Dyno-Sheets.html)

It's been talked about plenty of times on BMW boards that the N54 cranks out in reality ~320HP. Why BMW advertises 300HP? Perhaps not to crunch into e46 M3 sales (In the U.S. - 333HP). I think we'll see future 335i advertised specs in the 320HP range when the e90/92 M3 gets released.

Eagerly waiting.. this is my 1st post... I'm debating between an 09 or a 08 on clearance when I purchase a new one in April 08. It's a tuff call. I'm sure the new one will look new, fresh, and aggressive, but I will be able to get below invoice on the 08, plus very good financing rates. The 09 will go for sticker and rates will be upwards of 6 or 7 %. What would you do in my case?

Hasn't been discussed but since there are in the CL, TL and RL sections I'd imagine it will happen.

I agree about that point... It does take a couple years to get things squared away. Part of me thinks that I'm better off getting a 1st gen... that's stuck w/ the 2.4 L NA engine. If I rushed and got a NA 09 model, because that's all that was available at the time I have to purchase (April 30th), I'd be always left wanting the 09 Type-S Turbo power in that case. It seems to me like a cleaner break if I just get the 08, and don't associate myself w/ the 2nd Gen, and just be happy w/ the 1st Gen. I was really pulling to get a 08 TL until recently... I flipped back to wanting an 08 TSX for it's handling/steering superiority.

We'll see how the 09 shapes up.. can't wait for real pics. The Frankfurt Accord Tourer Concept was sweet overall. I really like the modernized, muscular look. I just didn't like the massive rear taillamps. Hopefully the 09 TSX sedan will have a more toned down rear.

Auf Wiedersehen Acura & Honda! Tired of waiting for you to come to your senses, I ordered a BMW 328xi Sedan, Montego Blue, Dakota Black & Aluminum, Premium, Sport, Xenon, Comfort Access, iPod, Heated Seats for delivery by Valentine's Day. $2,500 off Sticker, shade under $500 for a 36 month, 15K per year lease with $0 Maintenance, $0 Down (TTL only) and only a $100 bump in my insurance. Sayonara to the Honda dealers who requested 2K over sticker for the 08 Accord Coupe! Sayonara to the Acura dealers who quoted over $500 for a 08 TL-S lease! See you in 2010 to check out the MMC TL & TSX!

I'm getting tired of the BMW comparisons. The highest priced Honda/Acura barely gets you the lowest priced BMW. Some jerk complains about invoice dickering for a $30k car so instead buys a $40k car. Oh, the hardships we face. Why God, why?!?!!?

not enough money for buying a 335xi...? what's a pity.
The cheap interior of the BMW 1 and 3 series is a shame. The plastic and the ridicoulus central console. (Audi teachs...).

However.
I was sure that the TSX 2009 will be presented at the Detroit Motor Show. Maybe with a concept, maybe a photo, a hint, a something... before the Geneva show 2008. Nothing. Only silence. It means that Acura will present the TL (cincept) and the TSX (production) at the same time in New York?? Weird...

Ok, here's post number two. Long-time lurker with the FMC TL and TSX in my consideration set. This thread concerns the FMC TSX, and I'm opting out of considering the FMC TSX and leasing a BMW. If Acura had announced/introduced the FMC TSX as my lease expired in December, it would have been considered, but they didn't and I'm not waiting. I'm a man of action, not pointless posts regarding how Acura and Honda should manage their business.

^^good for you, man of action. Though this is an Acura forum, I think your complaints about model release are best answered by talking to Acura Customer service. Doing it here is like pounding sand.

I'm not going to deconstruct your logic, so here's mine. First, I'm leasing, not buying, so a better comparison would be TCO for a 36 month lease, not a comparison of MSRP. Second, I did not, and will never, haggle over price with a dealer. I tell them to make their best offer because I have no intention of negotiation. I always receive a fair price in return, not to mention their respect as an individual. The 2K dealer markup was clearly listed, and I do not pay markup on cars.

The 335xi is certainly sweet, making it was a very tough call, but the 328 is by no means a slow car and a better overall fit for me. Personally, I'm more into how a car handles in the twists of Westchester as opposed to straight line acceleration. Second, I love the interior of the BMW 3 series. It is spartan as any car with sporty intentions should be, and the quality of the materials are terrific. I once owned an Audi A6 Avant, so I can attest to the quality and ergonomics their interiors, but nothing compares to the Sport seats/steering wheel in a Bimmer!

I have purchased a fair number of Honda and Acura models, including two Civics, an Accord, an Integra and a TSX. When your sales are down 25%, as Acura's are for 2007, it is more than simply the economy. Former Acura owners are buying other luxury brands, and Honda owners are not stepping up to Acura, they are stepping up to other luxury brands. Acura made a big splash with the TL and MDX, which provided good value and advanced electronics. Today, those same electronics are dated and other luxury car manufacturers have introduced product to fill the gaps. Anyone who is considering TSX or TL, such as myself, would be foolish not to consider BMW, or for that matter, Audi or Infiniti, on the high end. At the low end, Detroit, Toyota, Nissan and Honda themselves offer compelling product that matches or exceeds Acura's offerings. This will be my last post for Acurazine, so the message is clear. Acura needed to step up the plate, introduce SH-AWD in the TSX and TL in combination with further advancements in technology, and wrap it in eye-opening sheet metal by the summer of 2007. With the product in place, improving the Acura dealer experience to the level of other luxury car manufacturers would have completed the puzzle for Acura to make a run at luxury car status. Unfortunately, Acura has not done any of the above, therefore I am no longer interested in Acura.

I could care less that you got a BMW, but congrats anyways. I've had BMWs in the past, so maybe you finally discovering BMWs (to spite Acura somehow) is old news to me.

Thanks for your thoughts....now back to speculation on the 2009 TSX.

The new Audi A5 has the best seats I had the chance to try (as the A8 too).
The TL has very good seats, and the TSX too.
The sporty spartan interiors? Look at the interior of Audi, is 10 times better (and the quality of the Acura RL too).
In Europe BMW models of Bangels were all the time prised for the driving, but much criticized for the strange exterior shapes, and the cheap look of the interior, (Autocar, Quattroruote, Car Magazine, Autobild).
I have tried the seats of the BMW 6 and of the BMW5. They look great. Just look.
I prefer the seats of the TL...

Speculation about new models is one of the things that make automotive boards go round, as pointless as it may seem. Get off your high horse.

agreed... speculation is fun.... like the 1st spy pic.. and the first production photo leak. Like the latest video game console or macbook... All I can say is that while BMW's are top-notch in theory, it is the honda products that stay fast and steady over time like the tortoise, whereas the BMW is like the hare that sometimes hibernates at your local BMW dealer. Sure they give you free maintenance, sure they give you a loaner stripper 328 or X3, but I'd much rather be in the comfort and sterility of my own car day in and day out. I'll take the TSX over the 328, and will finance it at the same monthly payment as your highness and actually own something at the end rather than be left with an inflated ego of what I did flash around for 36 months and 15k mi. a year.

How can you say they haven't done any of the things you think they should do when the new models aren't even out yet? How do you know?

BTW, you're making yourself sound like a huge asshole in the few posts you've made.

I hate just about every American make there is but I don't create accounts on their forums and write long winded diatribes about how they all feel like cheap rental cars. A person who does must have free time on a level I'll never know.
