2G TSX Chat, Chit, and General Info Thread
Lol, not really.... you just pull up on that shit and the whole cup holder unit will come out
On another note, I was just at the stealership buying some touch up paint and checked out the TLX. Love the styling on it, but the interior was a bit ehh. Seats are their new style seats where it's all soft and shit which feels good and luxurious, but the dash and door panel is like this plastic that's just horrible and cheap feeling/looking.... Even our TSX's dash seems better imo. Then there's the new dual screen system which is kinda ehh too. It's like the same shit throughout all their models with the exception of the ILX and RDX. The interiors all literally look the same.... dash, steering wheel, gauge cluster... they all look the fucking same! And the lack of a shifter on the 3.5 is lame too, and the electronic parking brake... I like to erect my parking brake lever when I park
Ok, endrant. Here's some pics I got though lol

^Acura should use your photos for their marketing stuff.. looks really good in those pics imo. Looks like it has the aero kit aswell? Wish you could see the exposed exhaust tips.. looks like somethings missing imo. That's actually my main gripe about the exterior of the car.
Thanks! So all you gotta do is pull up on the part that covers the cup holder? Wood had some hairline scratches.. in the process of restoring it.

wtf? ~$20 on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-OEM-Honda-2-Part-Touch-Up-Paint-Pen-NH-788P-White-Orchid-Pearl-/170926390071?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27cc01bb37&vxp=mtr
gaiz.. stupid question
how do you guys get a jack stand on a rear jacking point of the car?
Some say use the jack to lift up on the tow hook, and then slip the jack stands under the jacking points. I've tried that.. but my jack can't lift the car high enough to place jack stands under the rear jacking points
. I've also tried putting the jack on top of a few big pieces of wood so that I can get more height out of my jack (basically so that the cup of the jack is almost touching the tow hook even though the jack hasn't been pumped yet). But it's still not enough
It's also impossible for me to jack the car up from the jacking points, and have enough room to place the jack stand beside it and still be under the jacking point. The jack is in the way.
Do I need a better jack with more height ability, so that I can raise the car more from the tow hook?
I wanna install extended studs on my rears... and I want to do it myself. I know it's an easy job, but I don't want the car to fall on top of me during the process because I didn't use jack stands. Help a noob?
Stupid question number 2, can I place jack stands under a particular suspension component? 99% of me is thinking the answer is no, but I want to know from you guys.
Note: I have 1 shitty jack, and 2 2ton jack stands.

lol filthy casual.
Ok the easiest thing to do will be to jack up one side, put the jackstand, lower it on to that, then do the other side the same way.
There is enough space to jack up the car and also put the jackstand, ive' done it multiple times
I think you can put it on the lower control arm, not 100% sure.

k not gonna try again until I get a new jack.. I don't feel confident at all in this thing. My dad's been using it for a long time now, but it doesn't feel safe when I operate it. It's also only rated for 1.5 tons, and I'd feel a bit better if I got at least a 2 ton jack. When this arrives, I'll try lifting the car again on the side, with the cup as far as possible towards one side of the jacking point as possible, and try to slip a jack stand on the remaining part of the jacking point.
Thinking about getting the Arcan XL20 Low Profile jack:

That price comes up a lot on iCrap Minis btw. Target just had them for $199 a few weeks ago.
Simon were you able to get both your jack and jack stand under the same jacking point at the same time?
I jerk it from the tow hook.
And I have the Pittsburgh one, it does the job. Some people hate em, some people love em, I haven't ran into a problem with them so far so I guess you can say I love em lol. It's not like Imma be under the car with just the jack. I use it to jack up the car onto jackstands.

Thanks guys; I'm pretty sure my problem is that my jack is a POS. It doesn't lift very high, and it doesn't feel as sturdy as I'd like it. I'm very, very careful and hesitant when I lower the car back down cuz I get the feeling that it'll slip or something.
Gonna get the Arcan one via Amazon Prime. Should arrive by Thursday at my US address

Low pro jack from harbor freight should be fine. There is no problem with this. If using proper safety techniques you will always be supporting your vehicle via jack stands. Even if you were to place your hand under the vehicle while placing the jack stands and your jack fails you will not be injured. As far as the car goes.... You are talking about an 8in drop during failure with most likely 2 tires still supporting the majority of the weight.
All that being said, I have a nice ass low pro jack and it still scares the shit out of me when I drop her to the floor. Sometimes she eases real slow like... Other times she drops faster than a stripper on food stamps!
