overfilled oil

I do my oil change run the car, turn it off, check the level its right on the upper dot. If I check the oil a few days later its over filled. I've tried making sure I only get it to the line but some how it ends up overfilled. I've never had this problem before with any of my cars . Anybody else have this problem? Normal? Tips/tricks?

Overfilling can screw with the pressure in the engine. Not very smart

Oil is running from the valve cover to the pan, that takes time.
When you checked the oil a few days later was the engine hot or cold?
How far was it over?
Did you pre-fil the oil filter?

How much oil are you adding after you drain it and put a new filter on.

You checked the oil level after you just ran the car, or am I misunderstanding this?

only reliable reading is cold or left sitting 15+ minutes after running

while the TL carries approx 4.5 - 4.7 qts depending on year and who you ask
MANY of us buy oil in the 5 quart jug
and pour in all of it with a new filter (prefill filter halfway for safety)

the small amount over indicated full has not proven troublesome to any of us,
and covers for the amount used in normal combustion/bypass
Start at full and in 7500 miles it may read at the low mark

anything under full is reduced cooling abilty
way over,, by a qt---drain out thru normal drain plug
