mind you these springs have about 10K on them and have NEVER been Driven in the SNOW... got caught in a handful of downpours but that is it.

My car is just about to turn 15K and the springs are not even 2 yrs old.

"If I were 2-Years out of warranty and had 125,000 miles on the car I’d feel pretty good.
Because in that scenario, Acura doesn’t have to do a thing."

I see your point but I don't think you see mine. Springs are not a "wear and tear" item, and when they wear they should become looser, not crack. This is not a reliability issue, this is a potential safety issue. I have a 2y old and a 1y old that I cart around in this fine automobile.

If Comptech says "yes, these springs will become loose in 5 years instead of 20" I can accept that. But if they are going to crack and collapse, that is quite another.

I just sent an e-mail to Apex. Is anyone interested in those lowering springs/adjustables?

I'm tellin you guys they are one of the best manufacturers out there. Forget about the shops that outsource thier stuff buy from the original.

Nice gesture?? yes. Would I buy the same brand t.v again? NO!!
As mentioned above, I paid more for Comptech thinking I was getting superior quality.

Unbelievable! Call 'em up. Just keep hitting re-dial. Somebody will answer eventually. I can't believe yours have that much rust. Mine look worse with only 15k and 1 year but I drove it all winter and through a lot of rain.

Sorry if this was already covered in this thread, but i recently installed my springs this past summer and they were a very dark gray, almost black color looking spring. i also did the tokico blues and comptech sways. i was just wondering if the darker/blacker springs have had better longevity...again, sorry if this was covered, but i'm just too busy to read this whole thread. thanks a lot for the help.

I am new to this forum. I would like to say that this is the most information I have ever learned about my car. I just extended my warranty through acura. I have 29k on my silver 2001 cl. What sucks is that acura is telling me that they will only warranty any enhancements from comptech. Are there any other factory authorized upgrades alllowed. I'm starting to have a bad feeling about comptech.

The silver Comptechs are the only springs I know of having those load rating tags on them.

My springs, look very similiar to Smitty's. Mine have been on about two years.

The right rear has the most rust.

I finally had a chance to take a good look at my springs and the rears are pretty bad (especially the driver side rear). I definitely need to give Comptech a shout...

checked my comptech spring and sways today. I had them installed back in summer 2001 by PAA. Anyway, my sways are black, no rust, still look new. All of my spring on four corners are silver, and they look ok, no major rust, just some rusty spots...
I didn't jack up the car, so couldn't get a good look, will do so and take some pics.

maybe the guy from comptech was right, silver isn't necessory bad, it probably does depends on which company did the coating *knocking on wood*... well, sure hope so.

I just found out that comptech is like 15 minutes away from me. I'm going straight to them to purchase my springs (black only please) and ice box.

Has anyone else had difficulty getting a response from Comptech? I emailed Nate two weeks ago and haven't heard back.

Pick up the phone and CALL THEM. Ask for Nate or Joe.
They get hundreds of E-Mails a day and you can’t expect them to address every one.

I just spoke with Nate again today and he said all cases that they know about are being addressed.

I e-mail them a few times before getting a response. Took about 3 weeks to get an answer to my question. Not too bad for a guy who's most likely very busy because of all the calls regarding rusty springs. Of course, my question wasn't about replacing the springs. If my springs actually needed replacing, I would call them instead of e-mailing.

Let's see I called and talked to Nate on the 26th of August. He told me he would ship a set out as soon as they got more in stock. (I had to give him a credit card but he is sending a call-tag with the springs so I can send them back). They shipped about a week later and UPS shows them ariving tommorow so about 2 1/2 weeks total to get the springs. Not too bad. He did say they were sending them to the people who had broken springs first so it took a few extra days for them to get some in. Not too bad. I had no luck with e-mail prior to that but when I e-mailed Nate directly about my order he e-mailed me right back.

Is Comptech offering you any allowance on having to reinstall them again? Cost me $200 to have them installed the first time. Don't like having to pay another $200 to replace a defective product.

They did not offer anything but I did not ask for it either because I don't like anybody working on my car. There have been a few here that have been compensated for installation I believe though.

I received the exact same thing today on my door step. They are a nice black color. Hopefully this is the reason for the large backorder.

Well since my springs are NOT broke (pieces missing or me laying injured on the side of the road)

Comptech has decided to JUST replace my CT springs with new ones... (so they say from my phone conversation, but I am awaiting a call back.)

Now I have to spend another $275.00 for install and alignment..... and i might as well change the shocks out while I am at it... Koni's $550.00..

So yeah $775.00 later, I am super happy...... yeah right..

but you got to pay to play..... oh well... no sense in crying over spilled milk, but this whole process left a bad taste in my mouth.

Why aren’t they paying for reinstall & alignment?
They’re covering mine and I’m not even putting Comptech’s back on the car.

My friend agreed to help me uninstall the comptechs and install a used set of TEINS I am getting for 650 .. thank god. if I had to foot the bill for install\uninstall and they weren't paying I would be really pissed. after I get them off I will call comptech about getting a new set.

Did you guys have to send your old springs in? or just send pics?

According to Pete, Jens is on an “extended vacation” in Germany.
And he doesn’t do ANY kind of performance mods anymore.
