I see. I never knew that. I always assumed that when people talked about the "perches" of the koni's, they were talking about dampening for some reason .. never knew they were height adjustable as well. thanks guys

For anyone who had their CT Springs purchased & installed at PAA in NJ and are still under warranty -
Do they have the 'new' (black?) springs ?? and are they handling the return & labor reimbursement with CT for you ?? (I kind of remember someone mentioning this previously)
I have looked at mine and they are rusting---- am under warranty until 05/05 , so thank you sweet

Joe called me back and verified the ride height is the Eibach ride height now.. More then likely we will need camber kits for the new springs.. So tact on another $100-$200 more on top of what I've already paid.. I'll be at a total cost with these junk springs over $1,200.. Also the stock shocks which have previously lasted me 67k miles.. More then likely the stock shocks will not hold up as long as they did with the other springs..

When and/or if my springs crap out, I'm moving to another brand. I already got Koni Yellows but don't wanna lower my car anymore. I'd rather take a $300 and Saturday hit (did my own install) than to have to keep spending money on my suspension setup.

So, we have Carl telling us that in his conversation with Comptech they confirm that the springs are now Eibach springs ... and we have Jonesi telling us that Comptech confirms the ride height of the 'new' Comptech springs are in fact the same ride height of the Eibach springs - which by association means that we are talking about the Eibach Pro-Kit Spring Set ... which retails at TireRack for $238 for the kit ... which means that those of us who have returned the springs have now received a replacement item which was marked up by 25% over what we could have gotten it for from TireRack (in other words Comptech has replaced their $299 springs that we paid $299 for with an item that sells for $238)?

But yes Joe told me after speaking with a technican that the new height is 1.7, 2.0 exact same as the Eibach..

they are robbing us blind. no wonder they agreed so willingly to give you a set for 200 if your out of warranty .. because you can get the exact same springs for cheaper than that!
I bet if they still had the old springs you would've been buying a set for 299$
god am I glad I went with tein

Shocks, b/c factory shocks won't hold up as long..
The list goes on and on for me..
I'm out approx. $1,200 so far...

My saga has ended.
Comptech’s are OFF and the TEIN coilovers are ON.
Full report to follow in a new thread in a few days.
Good luck to everyone else in their negations with Comptech on getting these rusty pieces of crap replaced.

I'm also going to have to jump on the bandwagon of disappointed people on this issue. I really wish that they would have worked through their issues with manufacturing and not thrown in the towel on this one. They didn't even correct the installation instructions sent with the Comptech/Eibach springs.
Eibach does not differentiate their left and right springs whereas Comptech used to. Their instructions still reference the tags attached to each spring that indicate spring load/rate. My springs had no tags attached. Did anyone else have tags attached? I doubt it. I always considered the Comptech springs a step above because of this additional step that they did in their quality process to rate and match the springs as a set.
Oh well. I'll install mine tomorrow and hope for the best. I'm running Illuminas so I don't have the option of lowering or raising the perches like the Koni's do.

I am a little conerned about needing a camber kit when replacing the old Comptech spring with the Eibach springs since the drop is more.
In looking at other springs, it seems that the HR Sport are a closer drop to the old Comptech springs. I my just leave my Comptech springs on until one breaks then replace with HR Sport springs and Koni Yellow.

The question for me is timing -- I'm sure I have another 6 mos to 1 year with the Comptech Springs (they just have a light rust on the bottom coils).
This really does bum me out.

Quite a few of us in the same boat except I already got the Koni Yellows.
I think I'll go with the Tein Luxury springs. They have the exact same drop as the previous Comptech drop.

Here are the drops listed on Autocarparts.com
Comptech (silver) 1.75/1.50 $275.08
Eibach Pro Kit 2.10/1.75 $210.54
H&R Sport 1.75/1.50 $185.53
Neuspeed 1.75/1.75 $155.96
Tanabe 1.50/1.50 $234.00
Tein Luxury 1.50/1.00 $195.00
I would consider going with either the H&R sport or the Tein Luxury. And we all thought we were paying a premium price for springs to get the Comptech quality.
Eibach springs do have a 10 year warranty, I wonder if you buy them from Comptech if it goes down to two years.

I have a '02 TL-S and I visit the A-TL site but I like the A-CL site much better. More knowledgeable people here. Seems the TL site is now mostly a bunch of teenager who have inherited mom or dad's TL.
Back to the topic. I am still undecided, but right know I think the do nothing option is gaining popularity with my wallet.

This is really ridiculous. If Comptech was going to send out a replacement spring from a different company, they should have shipped H&R 50103. The drop is almost identical to Comptech.
This whole things begs the question, how is it that Comptech got such a great reputation in the first place???
I remember specifically buying Comptech because of their reputation on this site and a-tl

Eibach could have been doing the Comptech Spring s in the first place. If so, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't change vendors.

Comptech has been doing very well for a number of years as far as quality goes. They're also the main aftermarket manufacturer for Honda/Acura.
I'm unhappy about the whole situation too but they've only had problems with their springs.

Since ya'll have not kicked anyones ass, ya'll are the nicest dudes on the planet. Aftermarket springs are supposed to be battle tested and a higher quality than any stock OEM componant.
Eibach is great quality stuff.
Tein is top of the line stuff. Finally expanding to Euro cars.

I know everyone's ticked about getting the Eibach drop on the new springs. I just installed mine last night and this is the drop I got on my set:
1.625" (left front) 1.750" (right front)
1.375" (left rear) 1.375" (right rear)
This was replacing the stock springs and struts (20K miles on them) with the Grey Comptech Springs and Tokico Illuminas.
Drop is comparable to the old Comptech Silver springs - unless these are going to settle another 1/4"
