Dude I feel really bad for you, but the only line going through my head after reading all that is "Fuck Cali". I know it sounds really immature and Cali is a great state, but that's really rough to have your car stolen twice in a couple weeks. Good luck bro, hope everything works out for the best for ya

Goddamn bro. I'm pissed just reading all of this. Makes me very glad I have a secure driveway and clear view of my driveway from my room. Plus a little something for anybody stupid enough to try to steal my car. Anyways leave it alone dude. This sounds like some deep shit. Don't even bother fucking with whoever stole it, they might try to do something to you yourself. Fuck em.

This is why I have 2 security cameras pointed at my car. I have caught 2 people trying to yank the door open in the night, and I live in the middle of no where NY.

WTF?
I'm so sorry to hear that your baby was violated. MUST have been an inside job, or someone really pissed off at you. I mean, CLs are just NOT a theft magnet, or are they in Cali?

In Kalifonria if you went out there with a gun b/c they were stealing your car and you shot them you'd go to jail! In Texas you wouldn't.
I hope I never see this car again honestly. I'm sure it's getting a beatin' put on it now.
I'll let you guys know if I don't get it back and what my payout might be. If it comes back again... well shit I hope it's toasted. We'll see they must have wanted it badly.
Funny about the TL transmission going out during a chase! LOL.
No more hondas for me... too easy to steal!

I would disagree. My car was taken because of how easy was to make a dupe key. For Mercedes every key that is ordered comes from the factory and is recorded where it was ordered and by whom. 2 keys are stored in the US the others, if you need them, have to be made in Germany and shipped over.
Had this system existed for Honda I would be able to tell who made a key for my car.
Any super PRO can probably steal a car easily but I'm talking about 95% of people.
Also, had Honda gone to the trouble of welding the immobilizer onto the ECU the crooks would have needed to install a new ECU into my car. So Honda saved a few bucks but going plug-and-play and I lost my car - twice.

twice? that is a first for me.
how much is lo-jack?
what i was thinking about doing was adding a line to my cellular plan.
Then put the sim in a POS phone and leave it ON, hidden in the car with the charger connected to the battery. This way, if my car ever gets stolen, they can try locating the phone.

It's not just hondas bro. any car can get took. need examples? gone in 60 seconds...obviously not that exaggerated but given enough time and someone really wants it, it'll get taken. benz included. that whole inside job theory is spot on tho. everybody has their price. if not money, then through threats. but they really wanted your car for some reason...

The one detail I did not know regarding the OEM alarm was that the immobilizer was a plug-in card on the ECU... I thought they were the same circuit board. Being able to track every single key ever made for a car in a database eliminates almost all of the risk of having that car stolen unless you have code sniffers and other stuff. I would say 95%+ of car theives do not have this type of stuff. Obviously the ones who do are the real threats but eliminating the dealer/inside job possibility would go a long way towards making it tougher to steal a car.
I will be getting Lojack installed on my other car shortly.
I considered my car to be at risk for theft in the sense of the headlights and wheels (not that OEM wheels are that hot) and I thought the fact that is was a manual transmission would have made it more attractive but obviously I did not think anybody would pay my car any notice. An Integra, Civic, or Accord seemed to be better targets because of how many are out there but obviously with there only being 30,000 CLs out there and 3,400-some manual transmissions it got to the point where the parts now make this model worth stealing.
Lojack seems to be cheap insurance for a car.
I guess nobody ever thinks it will "happen to them" until it does. I only hope all of the evidence I found in my car and turned into the police will result in an arrest. That ties them to at least 7 or 8 other thefts plus whatever fraud they did with the banking/CC info I found. That and the fact that they also can be tracked through the account fraud they did. I just got an email from Amazon.com a few days ago saying they tried to buy something there with my CC#.

Dude this isn't CSI: San Francisco these guys have better things to do than worry about a stolen car. I gave them mountains of evidence and I'm sure nothing is going to happen... the car theft guys are probably overworked and underpaid.
Besides... the Board of Supervisors tells the cops how to do their jobs because they know better!

I'm telling you... every single key made for a Mercedes-Benz is registered, logged, and recorded. If somebody ordered a key for their 2005 E Class in 2007 you can find out what dealership it was ordered from, who was working there, who paid for it. You don't think that might make it harder to get a key than some dude working at the parts department for Bumfuck Honda who makes a key for a "friend" of his? Come on.
