How do you start your car up?
How do you start your car up?
Ok, I just realized that I have the odd habit of not putting the key in and turning it on. I seem to always put the key in, turn it to "on" and wait for all the gauges to reach their positions before turning it to "start".
Is this just a completely illogical waste of time, or do you do the same thing?

I voted for option #1.
Put clutch in, put key in and crank it, put her in neutral, adjust the seat memory #2 (I've got the seat set back on the remote so when I get in it's easier/less wear on the seat bolster), adjust radio, hit wipers to get the dew off, defroster (front/rear when necessary), A/C on (when necessary), fasten seat belt, open sunroof (when necessary), put her in reverse, check for traffic, back out of the driveway... and we're on the road !!
It's almost like a pre-flight check on a friggin' airplane

We think the same. I did the same thing, so the seat moves back before I get in, or out if I push the memory button.
I was wondering if it's bad to start the 6 speed with the clutch.
You know turn the key and then push in the clutch. I've done it a few times and wondered if it hurts anything.

I turn the key and let the guages do there thing for a second most times. Just take a quick glance to make sure everything is where it is suppsoed to be in terms of levels.

I turn the key to On, wait one to two seconds and then turn it over. In other words, I wait for the fuel pump to completely prime the fuel lines before turning over. This way it starts on the first turn over.
Now if I had just turned it off I will start it up right away as the lines haven't had time to depressurize.

That's what raised the question in the first place. I wait till that stops (by then the diag cycle is done) then I turn it to "Start". I was just curious if this was necessary.

Press and hold button II on my remote for 2 seconds from some distance away, press button I to unlock, get in, put the key in, step on the brake to kill remote start, release parking brake, put on reverse, glance at the screen (back-up camera), check rear view mirror, drive away
Start it up and drive it. Its just a an acura, not a ferrari.
I don't floor it once it's in the first 20 min or so on the road. I actually WANT something to happen with it so I can have a bigger reason to get rid of it and get the //M3.
