to be honest with you steve .. I'd be happy if they don't warp like the stock crap the slightly shorter distance and little to no fade would only be a bonus. at 22K miles my rotors make my steering wheel dance at speed on the highway when I press on the pedal.

We'll have to see. If most of the gains from the Unichip come by the way of ignition timing changes then no changes should be needed for the cam swap. If the A/F ratio does change noticeably then we will have to look into a new program.

The problem is that I am not doing this to grow a business. As such the margins are minimal not allowing for discounts. However, if group buys were organized I could get deeper discounts from the vendors and pass it along to ya'll. Otherwise I am pretty fixed in the pricing.

That is really my direction. A good alternative to the stock set up which doesn't warp or fade and doesn't cost significant $$. Any decreased distances is a bonus.

We are still waiting on PayPal to make the deposits into our account and then we will have Verified status. They should have done it by now but I was going to give them until the end of the week and then check with them again.

IMO, Comptech.

I will not be revinventing the wheel and making another "I have one too" intake. The intake parts we will be making deal more with the TB and manifold.

I read in another thread somewhere that initial testing of the RES proved gains as much as the unichip in the mid-RPM range .. is that true? has it even been tested?

I believe in that thread scalbert tested his original prototype as well and didn't see any gains whatsoever. We'll have to see what's different this time around.

Yes, the original one which was never released. I am trying a different design which can be manufactured at a reasonable costs and get similar gains.

Does your preprogramming e-manage included timing retard as boost increase?

My current program does not but I have another which does. It would be implemented though for a safety measure. I was doing 1 degree retard per two PSI boost. So 8 PSI boost would net 4 degrees retard.

BTW, for those wanting to put the power down at the strip I just got in the radius rods yesterday (meant to take pictures) and did a test fit last night. I should have the mounting figured out this weekend and will go out to a parking lot to test them.

If all works out I'll do a video showing the car launching without them (wheel hop galore) and with them (no wheel hop at all).

One more thing, I also got the exhaust cutout actuator in yesterday. It is going in to be installed tomorrow. I'll video this also and see what the sound difference are like outside the car and inside.

Nice work. Just curios when you expect them to be availabe for purchase, and how much you plan on selling them for? Thanks again scalbert.

I plan on having two versions available. The first version should be available before the end of the month. This will be a non-streetable but quick bolt on kit. It could be installed at the track in five minutes. I expect the price for this to be around $150.00

The next version, which will be a ways off, will replace the factory radius rods and include a front cross member. I expect this to be priced in the $300+ range, maybe more depending on how much fabrication is required. This is still months off as I haven't begun tearing out the stock pieces to see how it could be mounted.

Ok, I was waiting for SRES2 (Scalbert RES System) as my first need, but since getting my rebuilt tranny back I'm really thinking I'd like a ECM option . . . I hate the way my tranny shifts and even told the dealer that I've toyed with trading it in on something else.

I feel like I'm driving Granny's car now.

So what are the chances this is doable Scalbert? Do you need to talk to the head of engineering? :P

I planned on (or rather the engineering dept. ) looking at a mod for the transmission electronics which will allow someone to tailor their shift feel. I want to get on this soon but need to clear a few of the other projects first.

Of all the mods I'd like to do, this would be at the top of my list! I sure hope it works.

It would not be practical on the street; it would limit clearance by about 50%. It should be completely street legal though.

I'm pretty confident on this as it is not uncharted territory for FWD vehicles. I doubt the CL will be the one unique vehicle.

I'm planning on picking up a few bolts tomorrow which should complete the task. Maybe a test run will be in order for Sunday. But there is another item which needs testing first.

What are we looking at for a time frame on the RES ... and would using the RES require a re-tuning on the unichip?

I want to test the first RES plate by the end of the month. If that works out I should have a final design ready to test before the end of July. From there it will be available but I really need to get some miles on a couple just to be sure there are no hidden issues.

As for tuning, if the Unichip's benefits come by way of what I think they do, mainly through timing alterations; then no, it would be fine. I'll have to research this further.

The way I understand it, the RES plate is essentially a type of "spacer" for the intake manifold .. so if I understand it right then we can get more air into the motor more quickly, and I thought in addition to timing the unichip also tunes air\fuel .. so with more air coming in .....

I figured maybe we could take more fuel. anyway I'm not worried I'm sure you'll figure it out

Actually, it should help increase the manifold pressure thus enabling greater filling ability. This should be seen by the MAP sensor and adjusted by the Unichip as it would without the RES. How much I can't say right now but there are variables to consider and it is something we will look into.

Ah, makes sense, I get it. Can't wait to see how it works out on the dyno. Hopefully it will aide my quest for 13's on NA 5AT .. I think I have it locked down with just the addition of the unichip and mugen cooling stuff tho.. I only need .18 seconds

Thanks, everything is in motion...

I'm going to try a different heat exchanger in the mean time. This one might be better and would look pretty cool. I'll post some pictures once it is in and ready.
