Count me in 100% @ $700-750 w/ PnP. I'm due for a mod. I don't have an exhaust but plan to in the future. Should I just get the I/H/E programming then? I can't see how the exhaust makes much of a difference anyway. Need a deposit? I think we have 10 people now...

In case we don't have 20 people, how much will it cost? I may be interested anyway. After all, I paid $1200 for my headers way back in the day. $700 for 5-15 hp across the whole range ain't too shabby.

You can put me down as a maybe. I'll get it eventually for sure. When we find out how long it will take I can make a firm decision. If it's going to be a few months then I can do it. I need some time to recover from the header purchase.

Very important question!!!!

Doesn't Acura change the ECU if you get your tranny changed?

Will this affect anything?

Does the car that this was tested on still have it's first tranny?

Just want to make sure that this will work no matter what ECU we have.

it will work no matter if you have the original or replacement ecu.

if you have to go in for a new tranny, just unplug the unichip then plug it back in when you get your car back.

I have a 6 speed. Are you keeping track of people with "3 pedals" that want in???? I would be willing to put up the $100, but want to know who is local and going to let Unichip use their car to create the proper chip?????

We don't have any volunteers yet to go up.. cls6sp03 is going to go up but only with his SC on, so I'm not sure if they can do anything. You and JaDia are two 6speeders waiting for the chip for it.

Good Luck guys! I want in but after the wedding still recovering and my wife most certainly does not agree with me getting more mods (we've had this conversation already). I'll keep my eyes open though...more reason to get a weekend job!

Wow,

Nice turn out already since I left work yesterday.

Nice job Jonesi! Thanks for keep this updated with people's questions.

My plan for payment collection is as follow, please make other suggestions if you can accomdate.

I will setup a PO Box just for this GB, so everyone can get a bank issued check made out to Uni-Chip instead of me. Once I have 20 checks in hand, I will take a trip over to UniChip Office and hand it to them directly, and have Jack write me a receipt for the entire GroupBuy. Then I will scan it, and post it on this thread.

For those wants to use Credit Cards, I obviously can't handle that short of going through paypal, but lets work that out on a 1 on 1 bases, so I can provide you with the proper document to show you have paid me, and it's used for UniChip down payment. Keep in mind that I will not cover that (I think) 3% charge from using paypal, therefore, when you make the payment to me, you need to include that first.

Again, Jonesi, thank you for all your help with this, and I can just leave the job of keeping a current up to date list of people who are in?

The eta, is when we are close on completing this group buy.. I'd say once we hit 15 that is 100% sure, then I will get the PO Box setup, and start to collect the down payment.

With the Uni-Chip, you will not need the VAFC, but you can always keep it for looks, as the tune potential is much greatly on the Uni-Chip, therefore you would have to pull out any tuning you might have done on the VAFC.

But officially, from UniChip, you should just remove it. At least that is what they told me about my VAFC on the S2000.

His was just posted on the TL site:

"If we can put together a descent size group, including both CL members and TL members, of 30 or so... We could be looking at a discount around 75.00 - 80.00 dollars, depending on how many commit. Commitment requires a 100.00 deposit to initiate the process. This money is refundable if he fails to produce the product, "this is for your peace of mind"

The member willing to take his car to Jack's location in Hillsboro, Portland, will probably get his/hers chip for FREE and help properly tune the chip for the TL (four or five speed). "

This would go for the CLS6speed, we need someone to make it up there.. But overall if we can get 30+ people we could get a 75-80 discount.. Keep working on this guys..!

Remember also that if we get this many people this will put the chip in the mid 600 range which is much better.
I am ready to put in deposit, so keep us posted on what to do and when its needed. Jonesi, keep up the good work!

6 Speed

I have a 6-speed in Seattle. I might be persuaded to journey down to Portland. How long would they need the car? Would I get a break in price? The car is bone stock....do I need headers or other mods?

I believe CLS2001 left it there for a few days only b/c he has his S2000 to cruise in.. I do believe they would need one with H/I to be able to fine tune it..

Hmm..

Headers and intake is prefered.. since most people who want the chip probably already has those mods.. but we can try?

But about the timing.. they had my car for 1 week. So, you have to be able to give it up for that time. But in return, you will get a free chip.

I say we speak with UniChip and see if they will take deposits rather then putting you in the middle.. And this way they could accept credit cards etc.. I would hate to be in your position collecting thousands all in checks etc.. Lets wait til we get a little closer..

Edit: Sorry Xtrmely busy at work.. I'll call you a little later on, if that's cool.
