i take in my acura tsx 06 for the 1st oil change and mentioned to the service rep about the squeaking seat. they told me that there's a service bulletin on this and they would be able to help me fix both the driver and passenger seat.

If there is a TSB it hasn't hit Alldata yet....let's keep our fingers crossed.

I just got my 2006 TSX back from the dealer.
Here is a service report.

CLIENT STATES THERE IS A SQUEAK NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT / TECH
TO TEST DRIVE WITH CLIENT TO VERIFY CONCERN.
TECH - CHECKED CLIENT CONCERN, AND VERIFIED CONCERN.
REMOVED SEAT AND INSPECTED BASE.
BASE IS RUBBING AGAINST BODY OF CAR. REINSTALLED SEAT.
PUSHED OUTWARD ON RAILS OF BASE AND TIGHTENED BOLTS.
CHECKED FOR ANY NOISE, OK AT THIS TIME. NO MORE NOISE.

So far so good. Hope it will stay that way.

They also said this is a known issue for 2006 TSX.

Exactly a month ago I took my TSX in for the second time because of the squeak. They adjusted the seat, lubricated the hinge and said that they would order me a new hinge.

As it turned out they ordered me a whole new seat base. I was a little scared to get it done because I have not experienced the squeak since they last adjusted and lubricated it and I was afraid the new seat base would squeak as I left the parking lot.

My fears were unfounded as I made it home in silence. Hopefully the squeak is a thing of the past.

You're lucky. I had the same thing done to mine a few months ago and the squeaking and creaking came back within a few weeks. Mine went back in for the 3rd time this morning to see if they can do something different to fix it. It's simply unacceptable to have this issue continue on and on. I live in my car daily and cannot deal with these noises any longer

well, today I took my car to the dealer and they were supposed to fix that clicking noise i get when I lean back in my seat. well I waited at the dealer for five hours before i got my car back in worse conditions then when i brought it in. they scratched up my floor panel and the panel that covers the seatbelt spool and if thats not bad enough they also broke my seat controllers clips so they also have to replace the whole control since the clips are part of the moulding and the best part of it all is they didnt even fix what was supposed to be fixed. I dont know what they replaced but they better do something nice for all this stress they have caused me ( like throw in some all season rubber mats)...

Yup, same here. Had my seat base replaced less than two weeks ago, and the squeak is already on its way back. For now it's only slight and not as often as before. But still - WHY??? I am beginning to wonder if it is even possible to fix completely.

If enough owners report their problems through this government site, a quicker resolution may be at hand. In many cases a manufacturer doesn't know that a problem is widespread unless it is reported here. This could also help them to issue a TSB or even a recall if necessary.
I am beginning to think you are correct. We should all file a compliant so Acura will promptly and properly investigate this problem and come up with a fix that will work the first time.

I brought in my car for oil change and fix the squeaking seat on the driver and passenger side. What they did is add the sealant to the base of the seat. In the process of doing that, they scratched the side panel of my door and after 3 days in auto body shop, that's fixed. And after I brought the car home, I realized that they also scratched the plastic panel on the side door as well. I'm getting very irritated by them. It seems like the driver seat squeak noise is gone. But the passenger side, its still making the "clacking" noise when breaking. I don't want to bring the car back to the same dealership, because I don't trust them anymore. What should I do now?

Complaining to the government may light more of a fire than complaining to customer service...time will tell! As of now, theres only 2 people on tat site that have reported problems - me and one other. Report your squeaky seat now!

DC Metro dealers - experience with seat creak?

Has anyone taken their '06 TSX into any of the DC dealers for the seat creak fix? I called Radley yesterday, and one of the service guys I spoke with said he'd never heard of the problem before. I need an oil change (B1 service), and I'd like to get the seat creak fixed at the same time.

Thanks for any feedback.

Yep, first dealer I took mine to was Pohanka. They just lubed and re-tightened the seat. It was literally squeaking again before I got out of their lot...

BTW, my B1 service at Pohanka was $156 (I'm pretty sure I was ripped - so I'm glad there are a ton of dealers in the DC area to choose from... next time it won't be them)

My seat squeak returned about one week after the dealer put globs of grease all over my seat rails and carpet. However, it's been raining in KC all weekend and the squeak has not been as bad with all the humidity.

I took my '06 TSX in to get it's first oil change and I mentioned the seat squeaking sound. They looked at it and I think they ordered new rails (I can't remember what the invoice says) and they should come in next week. I'm assuming they had heard of this problem before since I didn't mention anything about any sort of replacement or repair methods. I didn't even have to point it out to them. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

For those who have had the rails replaced, does this process reset your seat memory positions?

Again, I think you are mistaken -- or you don't understand what I'm saying. I never said a 9/16" wrench or socket wouldn't fit, but it's larger than it needs to be so it could lead to rounding off the corners because the bolt is actually a metric 14mm. I know because I just checked my car. So if you're going to go out an buy something to do this, you might as well buy the correct size which is 14mm.

It's back!! With the new seat base!!!!

Last Thursday, I thought I heard one squeak but dismissed it, Friday I thought that I hear four squeaks but dismissed it, Saturday it cam back full force and Sunday developed a second squeak area.

I will be taking it in on May 17th. I'm not sure what they will do to resolve it. I will keep you posted. I want it quiet for my trip to San Fran.

Well I finally have my drivers seat fixed, it took a total of six trips and two dealerships, but I am happy now that I drive a quiet car again. For a while there I felt like I had my Jetta again haha. Please read the trouble First Acura of Seekonk, Mass. caused me in this thread, and try to avoid them at any cost.

I just called my local dealer to see what they had to say about this, as I am experiencing the seat squeak. They said it only applies to the late 05's and the 06's and Honda is currently working on a fix for this. They said to give it a few weeks till they annouce the fix then bring it in, as of now brinigng it in would be pointless

Getting a new passenger seat base today. The thing would creak with just a light shove with my hand and if the car was simply moving. It was driving me crazy.

Got a 2006 RSX loaner with about 1500 miles. It sounds like the entire interior shakes and rattles when driving over slightly rougher pavement. I was shocked. This better not be an indication of things to come for my 2006 TSX.

Service Bulletin...FINALLY!!!

I took my 06 TSX into the dealer this morning to have this issue fixed (it was, like many of you, driving me NUTS!) and no kidding, right as I was getting ready to drive the technician around, another one knocked on the window to tell me he found the service bulletin issued this morning!! (He probably saw my thick printout of this thread and wanted to make sure there wasn't an easier way..)

When you go to the dealer, tell them it was issued under service bulletin #06-018, simply titled "Driver's Seat Squeaks" on May 12. I'm picking her up today and will let you know if the problem comes back. The corrective action is listed as "Reposition the seat or modify the floor panel"....we'll see, right? At least they're acknowledging the problem. Even the loaner they gave me today squeaks. What a stupid problem for an otherwise great car.

Here's to hoping we can all drive a little quieter!

can't wait to hit my dealer with this. I am interested to see what it means by "Modify the floor panel" as we all seem to agree that repositioning the seat doesn't work

Very Important

Hey, I recently went though a "Lemon Law" lawsuit with my Scion tC before I got my TSX. Let me tell you this...there was a small rattle in the hatchback that they could not fix and basically gave up on until Toyota/Scion put out a TSB! Sound familiar?? My dealership basically told me to F off until then and this was my 13th tme in the dealership for the same prob. Basically what I am trying to say is get everything you take your TSX in for (aside from regular maintenance), ensure it is documented and you get a copy. I got back 15K from Toyota after all the BS I went through (about 7 months after I filed the Lemon Law) and I never looked back since. Don't let a dealer try to F with you. I got ya in So Cal if you need a lawyer and this dude isn't expensive either.

P.S. I LOVE MY TS, but never again will I let some dealer tell me I need to "wait on a TSB again!!"

Mine is BACK TOO!!!!!

He ordered it, came in the following week. Took car back in for frame swapout (about 2 hours to do). We compared the old one to the new one by placing on concrete floor and pushing frame down and side to side. Old frame had some give and creaking, new frame was rock solid. After swap seat felt much tighter, no more creak and no give when making hard turns.
Very happy with Acura's handling of problem, (although they should issue a service bulletin). Only issue i have now is that the seat motor seems to make more noise when I move the seat , but since i am the only driver of the car and i now have the seat where i want it; I won't be moving it anymore. I will still have them check it out when i go in for oil change next month.
If problem returns I will be sure to repost, but I am confident that the problem has been solved.

1500 miles later seat creak is back on drivers side and has just begun on passenger side. I have never been so annoyed by a car before; which is a shame, cause this car is really fun to drive!!!
" Why didn't I buy the IS250? " This is my 1st taste of a suedo luxury vehicle and it is the 1st time that i have ever had a problem with a new car.
I have scheduled appointment for next week to try to fix again. After talking to service rep; i had him transfer me to my salesman where I immediately cancelled my pre-order for the RDX that I was going to get for my wife. Sorry ACURA!!, You should take the high road and issue a recall to make this right for all TSX owners!! Not just the ones that are complaining!!
Now back to shopping for a small SUV for her.

My seat has remained quiet after nearly 2 months by adjusting the rails on the floor. Maybe I was just lucky with how the rails are now aligned, but I'd certainly give it a try until Acura figures out how to permanently fix it or gets some new rails designed.

Honda obviously realizes there is a problem, but they can't just make a fix overnight for every problem... dealers have been trying to "fix" the squeak in several different ways, none of which seem to last very long as seen here. Others have replaced the rail assembly with a new one, but that doesn't seem to last long either. Based on this, it sounds like there is a design flaw with the assembly and it takes time to fix those things, get manufacturing to make the new design, ship new ones out, etc... I would rather they spend a little time getting it right than sending out a half thought out fix that ends you back at the dealer a few weeks later becase it didn't work.

As for the IS250... I am coming from an '02 IS 300... it had its own squeaks and rattles and other problems... Not that it is acceptable, but cars are just becoming exponentially more complicated and rushed out the door faster and faster.... this just makes the perfect environment for things like this to happen to any car from any manufacturer (I have been in several >$35k cars that have squeaks and rattles in the past couple of years.).

Lets just hope that the focus will shift back to quality instead of quantity soon.

I called Superior Acura in Overland Park, KS and they had not heard of these seat complaints until I provided that 5/12 TSB #. I had him read it back to me and it doesnt sound like it's anything more creative than what Azine members have tried, which is to reposition the seat against the floor pan.

If it sounds like the seat rails are rubbing against the floor pan, why isnt Acura trying out plastic or foam washers to insulate the noise?

My 05 TSX is at the dealership for servicing, and I was provided with a 06 TSX loaner with navi. I luv the new gauge clusters, mid, and updated navi...makes me jealous. However, the car had the infamous squeaking from the driver's seat. It was really bad. The car had 5000 miles on it.

After hearing that the TSB mentioned something about the floor pan I took the plunge this weekend and took out the driver's seat. Sorry about the crappy picture (Camera phone)

I busted out the Dremel and grinded about 0.5mm off the seat rail that sat directly above the area I mentioned had deep scratching. To be safe I also ground the spot weld area down a little bit that looked high. Now to make extra sure I beat the scratching area down with a small hammer after the grinding, then added some metal tape as a barrier. So far I have 250 miles with 0 squeaks. I drive about 800 miles a week so I will know quickly if this is the right fix.

Just got back from my service appointment to have the dealer (Norris Acura West in Ellicott City, MD) take a look at my seat under the TSB. The service writer said they had to reposition the seat on the floor. Everything checks out, no squeaks so far. Keeping my fingers crossed that this permanently solves the problem.
