Yep...same (VERY ANNOYING) driver's seat squeak here as well. Glad someone started a thread about this. Guess I'll take it to the dealer soon.

I also have an annoying buzz/rattle when driving on rough roads. It's somewhere near the glove box/passenger dash area.

the problem is in the seat base or rails as you call it and it is a full assembly with motors and all. i have replaced a few and never had a comeback on them.

I have the same annoying driver seat squeak

I have an 06 TSX that's right at 1 month old with about 1600 miles on it. Just in the past 2 or 3 weeks it's developed this creaking/squeaking in the bottom of the driver's seat when you brake or take tight turns. It's definitely annoying and my friend in the passenger seat can here it too. It does seem to lessen after driving the car for a while. I've moved the seat in all positions trying to maybe get it out of the squeak zone, but that did not work. I've already had the car in for other minor rattles and to replace the tint on a window for a bubble, but they didn't really help with the rattles...the driver door panel ...the little plate for the window buttons really vibrates when the bass is up on the radio; that too is kind of annoying but they didn't think it was loose enough to worry about.

Anyway when I take my car in for the first oil change, I will DEFINITELY tell them to check into the lower driver seat creaking and squeaking when braking and turning. For an upper level car, it shouldn't be doing that. Other than that the car is very tight over rough streets. Love the car, and I'm VERY anal about noises like this in a car.

It's great to see a post about this, too... more likely to end up getting a fix for this annoying problem. Thanks...

Brian in Texas.

It is only a temporary fix. I told my dealer about the problem and they sprayed some grease, probably WD-40.

Is it true that ACURA is aware of this problem? Like someone mentioned, a problem like this should not be happening to a car which is more than $25k. It seems that Acura has lost its know-and-do-how.

Guys, just a heads up, but using WD-40 isn't nearly as effective as silicone spray. Silicone won't displace other grease, and it lasts a LOT longer, and won't stain carpet.

One brand I use religiously is "Jig-A-Loo" and can be found at Home Depot (orange lid on the spray can).

You can use this anywhere you use Wd-40 but trust me it's a lot better - well worth it.

Has Acura and/or dealer found the problem?

Has Acura/dealer found the problem? What is the remedy? It is not lubrication.
The dealer said he found a very small demple that was rubbing against metal. They filed it down and placed a piece of filt over it. Three weeks with not a sound.

mattlissy,

Do you know where the 'demple' or burr was where your dealer filed and placed the felt pad? I sprayed my tracks with silicone and still have the noise.

It might be an installation issue. My dealership kept the car overnight and took the whole seat out of the car, lubricated, and then re-installed the seat. The squeaking has not returned even after nearly 1000 miles.

I do not know. They first lubricated the seat and I still had the problem. The second time they said the problem was the demple. I am not 100% convinced the demple was real. It could be that they did not lub the seat properly the first time and had to do it right the second time.

I've got my 06 in right now having a trailer hitch put on (one I got from our friends in .uk) and asked the service tech about warranty work. I explained I didn't buy the car from them but he said that as long as it's canadian made, any acura dealer would take care of any warranty work as though you bought it from them.

I'm arranging to have mine taken in in a coupla weeks as I'll be in vegas next week.

yep, me too...
mine's more of a creak than a squeak...started at 2k miles and am getting it fixed on tuesday.
i think it's the left support rail at the back attachment point. it's really loud currently.
i'm concerned that it will be a constant issue due to the high bolsters on the sides of the seats...you essentially have to put all of your weight on the edge of the seat when you rotate to get out of the car.

everything else is working great. i was a little alarmed by the burning smell the engine made the first week, but that's gone now...

I have tried silicone and WD-40 with no luck. I hate to think about taking the car in for something like this; there has to be a specific spot or cause of the problem. I am sure that judicious application of WD-40 or some sort of grease to that spot would fix it. Any thoughts?

3,000 miles on my 06 tsx and the driver's seat was definitely creaking. the dealer said they had to tighten the rail under the seat and give it a good lube (with what i didn't ask). worked for the rest of the day, though now the squeak from my center console is more noticeable!

Also, I hear squeaking noise somewhere near the right edge of my windshield (the front passenger seat), not loud though. It seems like the right edge of the windshield is rubbing against something each time I drive over bumpy roads. I knew that this problem exists in 04 and 05 and I was hoping it has been resolved for 06 model but I guess not.
I have the same noise near the windshield and the creeking seat when I turn. I just got mine last week and it was this way out of the door. I have not decided what I am going to do about it yet. I will see you you guys come of with first.

Hey guys, I've been lurking for a few months, and finally got my 06 a few weeks ago. I wish I was posting under better circumstances, but after 1200 miles, my seat started doing the squeak.

I took it in a few days ago, the mechanic told me they tightened one of the bolts securing the seat, oiled it, and repositioned the seat. The fix worked for about a day and a half, and now the squeak is louder than ever.

Gonna take it back again this week and see what they tell me. Sorry to hear about this major annoyance, but I'm glad no one's alone in this. This thread has been a huge help though.

Maybe I can ask they order and put a 05 seat in my car instead??? Seeing how I haven't heard of this happening with prior models...

dealership took out the seat, checked the attachments, and re-bolted...
creaks are gone, but i suspect they might return since the technician said that everything seemed pretty tight before he took the seat off...

like i said before, the high side bolsters on the seat make it almost impossible to get out of the car w/ out putting all of your body weight on the edge of the seat...

we'll see, but for now i'm very

WD-40 may solve the problem initially, but if the initial lubricant (grease or something) is removed (by dissolution with WD-40), one might have a worse problem in future.

That is something I learnt when trying to WD-40 my garage door rails. I learnt I had to use the "proper grease" for garage rails. WD-40 would only solve the problem temporarily.

I am not a mechanic, but just a thought.

Dont mean to hijack. But are you typing in the following?

You can put that into your signature one time and it will show up under every post you make. Just goto user CP and put it into the signature spot.

Most dealers are replacing the seat tracks for a more permanent fix. Mine's going in Friday for the job.

I went in this morning with my 06 with 2300 miles on it. The service guy said they put in an order for me for a new seat base or rail assembly (can't remember what he called it, but the whole bottom part of the seat. I will go back early next week when they have the part.

He also said that the part will likely come from the factory in Ohio. I thought TSX was built in Japan? So the seat parts are made in Ohio, shipped back to Japan, car assembled there, and then car is shipped back to US?

Pretty sure the seat rails are shared with the Accord/TL/RL platforms and thus are interchangeable. Plus, ordering the part from Ohio will take a lot less time than ordering it from Japan.

Mine is 3 weeks old and has been at the dealership for almost 2 of those weeks. Noise was very apparent. 1st they changed the rail, but that did nothing, now the seat is on backorder, so I am still waiting for the replacement. They said no one was having this problem, but now it is apparent many have this problem. Thanks acurazine.com

Weeeell guess what. It's baaaaaaaack! Dealer replaced entire motorized bottom half of the seat about a month ago. It's been rock solid since (granted, I was gone for 75% of that time). Anyway, I drove my car earlier this morning and there was no squeak whatsoever. Got in an hour ago, and I must have gained like 200 pounds since this morning, because my seat was creaking and moaning as it if was about to die in severe pain. Guess I'll be calling the dealer again..

Interesting -

I'm having the same problem. I have 3000 miles and my seat is creaking like mad whenever I take a corner. I thought it was just my fat arse but i guess either we all have really fat arses or there is a problem with the seat/rail anchoring.

Just got my car back from the dealership and what a difference. Firstly the memory seat positions were lost but no worries, I got things sorta back to where I liked 'em but taking those corners, the seat was rock solid. No longer felt like I was moving/shifting when I took the corners.

Here's what was written on the service sheet:

REMOVED SEAT TIGHTENED ALL BOLTS AND CLIPS
INSTALLED EPT TAPE ONTO METAL BOX MODULE UNDER
SEAT - REMOVED ALL PLASTIC TRIM PIECES INSTALLED
EPT TAPE REINSTALLED SEAT AND PUT BACK INTO CAR

I'll be asking what this EPT tape is tomorrow as they used it in the doors to stop the rattling of the speaker and I cranked that sucker today but no door rattling... woot!

All in all, A+++ to the service centre @ Acura of Saskatoon! Gonna buy those guys some donuts tomorrow

Has there been a TSB or alert sent to dealers about this issue?

I have the same squeak in my drivers seat. The TSX is so quiet, the squeak is more noticeable. I was going to mention it on my first service but now that I know it is a common widespread problem, I will get it fixed before my long trip next month.

I will print a few of these posts to take along with me.

Thanks for the start of the post as I thought I was the only one with the problem.

Other than the squeak and a minor fix required to the lower console door, the TSX has been perfect.

Wow, I had no idea this was such an issue. I've been noticing the squeak as well in the past 1000 miles or so. Now I'm wondering since I bought the car out of state, do I have to take it back to that dealer, or can I take it to one closer to home?

You would think any dealer would be able to handle it, mgoblu, especially since it's a warranty issue.

I, too, with 2,700 miles on my car, have the squeaking issue, and have had it since the beginning. Dealer told me it would take a few hours to fix, so I'm waiting for the first service.

My 06 5AT Navi with 2000 Km has the drivers seat squeek too. It started as a small intermittent noise at about 800Km and has now got very lound and noticable. The dealer says that they are unaware of any tsbs so they can only try to fix it with no guarantees of permanently fixing it. They are going to change the seat "bushing" first and see.

I really hope Honda comes out with a fix for this since so many ppl are having the same problem. It has got to be a design flaw.

It does work but now the thing is my passenger seat is doing it. What a drag.

I've had my 06 TSX for a week and a half. Put 925km on it (< 600mi) so far. Squeak started today!!! I'll have to get into the dealer next week. Other than the squeak, great car so far.

Creaking Seat

Have had the creaking sound since week 1 - lubricated twice - no result. They finally replaced the whole motorized seat track (about a $550 part, 150 labor - under warranty, of course). Seat is rock solid now. Hope it lasts. The service manager says this problem is all over the "tech line" but factory reps are saying nothing about it to service writers. Interestingly, the loaner they gave me while my car was being fixed was probably 3 times louder than my car. The service manager said he was using mine as a test and if all is well in about a week, he has 3 other cars with the same problem Also he offered to replace the passenger assembly as well so at least the service dept. has been responsive.

Well I finally got sick of that creaking seat and when my dealer 'forgot' to tell me that the seat rails were out of stock, I made it a point to figure it out myself! Amazingly, all I had to do was to remove the small plastic cover over the bolt that holds the left side drivers seat rail to the floor from the backseat, unscrew the bolt with a 9/16 socket wrench and move the rail as far to the left (drivers door side) as possible. Tighten the bolt, replace the cap and voila! No more noise -so far anyway. I think the added bit of tension on the rail somehow alleviates whatever was making the noise. Give it a try!

I took mine in for the 2nd time yesterday and found out that the rails are completely out of stock for at least 3-4 weeks. It appears that they will need to replace the rails on damn near every 06 out there eventually...

I dont have any pictures, but believe me that it couldnt be simpler. Move the drivers seat as far forward as possible. Then, just carefully remove the plastic cover (pry it away easily from the sides; a little clip holds it in place on each side) at the rear end of the outboard seat rail (the one closest to the door) and you will see a single 9/16" bolt that holds the rail to the floor. Just loosen it. The rail appears to have some play in it when loosened. Push it as far as possible towards the outside door and retighten the nut as tightly as possible. Then pop the plastic cover back on. That totally eliminated the creaking from my seat; it may well return if there is some underlying fault with the rail, but maybe the added tension on the rail is enough to fix the problem permanently.
