Squeaking from Driver Seat

It's really annoying. I have brand new 06 TSX. I bought it about 2 weeks ago.
Maybe from a week ago, when I make a turn, my driver seat generate sounds like squeaking. I've tried to suck it up, but it's really annoying. Are there anybody having a same problem or tips for fix?
Thanks and Happy Holidays.

I have the same problem. Only with the driver seat. And only during the first 5 or 6 minutes of being in the car. For instance, if I'm driving for 45minutes then if I try to move around in the drivers seat there is no sound/creak. I don't adjust any of the power seat controls or lumber whatsoever and I'm 170lbs so it has nothing to do with excessive weight. Weird, it leads me to believe it has something to do with the airbag in the seat.....perhaps its realigning itself or something - but even I don't buy this explanation!

Yup, I have this problem too. Started a few weeks after delivery. It does seem to become less distinct after a while driving, but perhaps that's just me adjusting to the noise, not sure. But the first few times I hear it, it really annoys the heck out of me. Definitely want this looked at by the dealer.

Squeaking sound when...

Yep, I have the same issue with my '06 TSX. It's the only noise/rattle that I've pinpointed in 1,500 miles.

It seems to occur only when I'm making a sharper left turn (or maybe right). It does seem like it's coming from the seat, and it's a higher pitched squeak. It's not major, and I can't hear it with the radio on, but it does sortof urk me that it's making noises and I haven't even had it for a week. I'll live, though, but it'd be all the better if Acura would release a TSB/fix.

Take care.

My 06 TSX (2000 miles) has squeaking noise coming from my driver seat. I hear the noise when I shift from side-to-side and when turning. I think I will try my wd-40 before I take the problem to my dealer.

Also, I hear squeaking noise somewhere near the right edge of my windshield (the front passenger seat), not loud though. It seems like the right edge of the windshield is rubbing against something each time I drive over bumpy roads. I knew that this problem exists in 04 and 05 and I was hoping it has been resolved for 06 model but I guess not.

My 2006 TSX (1600 km) also has squeaking noise coming from my driver seat. I believe I'm hearing the same noise that everyone is talking about.

My experience:
- Abrupt lane change to the left or right creates a squeak (but not always).
- Making a left turn (1 squeak) followed by a right turn (1 squeak) or vice versa.
- It's harder to reproduce in warmer weather and easier to reproduce in colder weather.
- I first thought it happens only at higher speeds but it also happens in lower speeds.
- On a smooth (non-hill road), there is little sound when making a left or right turn (smooth or sharp). On a hill (incline or decline), the sound is more pronounced when making a left or right turn.
- The problem seems to be more pronounced if you make a turn in the opposite direction of the previous turn.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed this but I can’t believe this is happening in a car that’s only 1600km (roughly 1000 miles). I’m going to print this page out and bring it up when they do my first maintenance.

Took my '06 TSX in to the dealer to have them check out the driver's seat squeak. They pinpointed it to be the rail upon which the seat moves, not the seat itself. They have a replacement rail on order, will be installed next week. Seems to me it would be more of a fastening issue, not so much the rail itself...so I am actually not hopeful that the replacement part will eliminate the squeak. We'll see...I will post results here.

Last night, I applied the good old WD-40 onto that rail and no more squeaking noise. Very easy to do!

Due to the plastic covering around the seat, it was hard to reach the railing from the front and side of the seat, so I went to the rear passenger seat and saw the end of the railing. I attached that thin straw to my WD-40 and reached into the railing and gunned it with WD-40 on both of the railings. Voila! Noisy free driver seat! My WD-40 must have killed that squeaking mice under my seat.

I am surprised to hear that your dealer decided to replace your railings.

Try WD-40!

EDIT: I did not find any dead mice under my seat, thanks goodness!

06 with 1200 miles with same squeaky seat. Will ask dealer to WD-40 during 1st oil change . . . with my less than pinpoint accuacy, I don't think WD-40 would do much good all over the carpet and dash!

When my armpits start to squeak, I spray WD-40 there too!

It is the best remedy for any sorts of squeaky noises.

If there is a build issue with early run '06 TSX's, I don't want to mask it with WD40.

The fact that several people report the same problem on a car that is < a month old seems to point to a build/design issue. The seat mechanicals are new for '06.

Won't WD-40 dissolve any initial lubricant that was placed on the rails?

WD-40 may solve the problem initially, but if the initial lubricant (grease or something) is removed (by dissolution with WD-40), one might have a worse problem in future.

That is something I learnt when trying to WD-40 my garage door rails. I learnt I had to use the "proper grease" for garage rails. WD-40 would only solve the problem temporarily.

I am not a mechanic, but just a thought.

That's how I used to fix my $400 Chevy Citation. Seems wrong to use that method on my $500/month + insurance Acura.

Okay so I took my TSX into the dealer to get this squeak taken care of. Initially they wanted to replace the rail that the chair moves on, as they pinpointed that to make the noise. But Acura did not just send a rail...they sent the whole motorized bottom half of the seat as one unit. Made it a 4-hour job. Anyway, when I picked up my car the seat felt VERY tight, kinda nice actually, no movement in it whatsoever. And no more squeak. But....I would not be surprised if the squeak comes back...and WD40 is the way to fix it!

When it squeaks too much, I move the lumbar support lever to full, then back down to none, and then to my usual position. It seems to quieten it down temporarily.

I just posted something about this somewhere else in the forum, but I have squeaks in the drivers seat of my '06, too... and just about everywhere else in the car. Did you bring yours back to the dealer yet? If so, what did they say?

I went to have the seat squeak addressed at the dealership. They took the seat out, put a little lube on the seat track and re-installed the seat. The squeaking is now gone. I suggest taking it to the dealer and having them look at it for you. It is still under warranty and these types of things should not happen.

Wow, i hear both squeaks in the drivers seat and somewhere in the passenger side. I gotta get it checked out by the dealer whenever I got the time. Initially it was gonna be the first maintainance, but I'll tell them to check the rail, and maybe this'll help 'em find out the problem.

Just had my railing replaced on my 06 (2200 miles). They did inform me that it is a known issue with the 06 and the squeak could reappear. If that occurs, they will order a complete new seat and replace.

(keeps fingers crossed that it is fixed)

Seat Noise

I have had my TSX for about a month and have been to the dealer a couple of times for the "squeak/creak" in driver seat. It appears to be worse when turning right and going downhill (drive canyons a lot). The dealer has lubricated it twice (per Acura) but that didn't work. Next week, they are going to replace the seat track. The service advisor says that Acura engineers are aware of the problem and are working on a fix. Many dealerships have reported the problem to Acura. If replacing the seat track doesn't work - he's hopeful they'll have the fix by then since so many people are having the same problem

seat creak

I had the same problem with my 06 about two week ago with 1,300 miles. The problem is very noticable when you make a right turn which moves your body to the left.
After the second try they found a very small demple that was rubbing another piece of metal. they filed down the demple and placed filt material over it. two weeks later with no problems.

I have had my 2006 TSX for 2 weeks. I too have the annoying squeak. I will use this thread when I call the dealership this week to look at it. I think I will let them have a try at lubricating the rail before I go at it with WD 40.

Thanks for validating what I feared was going to be a useless complaint.

06 here with the same problem. Driver and passenger seat both creak/squeek. At first, I thought it was the dashboard or windshield pillars.....
