My AC is out any ideas?

Yesterday, I got in the car and turned it on and to my surprise there was no AC!!! It didn't make a weird noise or didnt act funny in any way. It's strange because nothing comes out of the vents, no cold air, no hot air. It seems that the fan isn't on??? Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong? It's a 2004 TSX with 110k miles on it. Does anyone think it could be the AC relay? I called the dealer and they want to bring it in for diagnosis. That alone is $110 just to diagnose. Any ideas or suggestions? Please help!!! It's getting hot in Texas!!!!!

I looked at this post, but there is no comments about the AC not turning on only about blowing hot air, etc...

I don't know. My relay went out last summer and it blew air still. It would be cold for a few minutes, then turn hot.

I would just make an appt. at the dealer and get it checked out.

1. Blower circuit fuse blown
2. Blower motor failed
3. Blower transistor failed

Those would be the first things I'd check.

Thanks for the replies. I took it to an AC shop and they figured out that the fan motor transistor is bad. $80 part from dealer because AC shop didn't have it and then $65 labor charge from AC shop to install it. Overall, I saved about $300 if I would've taken it to the dealer. So if anyone in Houston,TX ever needs a good honest AC shop let me know and I can give you the number. thanks for the help.

Good info, this is something that can happen to the older model years (IMO still the best compared to the 09's)

Seems like a lot of threads/bumps lately about AC problems, I was browsing the easter eggs thread(there is stuff in there that isn't documented in the book!) and found this, some kind of diagnostic mode for the HVAC system:

How to Retrieve a DTC (Without HDS)

The audio-HVAC display module has a self-diagnosis function for climate control. To run the self-diagnosis function, do the following:

1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Press the AUTO button, and set the temperature to Lo.
3. Press and hold the OFF button. While holding the OFF button, press the rear window defogger button fire times within 10 seconds . The self-diagnosis will begin.

If there is any problem in the system, the temperature indicator will light up the segment (A through Q) corresponding to the error. The temperature indicator will then alternate every second between displaying "88" (all segments lit) and the error code segment (A through Q). To determine the meaning of the DTC, refer to the DTC Troubleshooting Index.

There are a couple of pics that show you what A-Q is, but it has to do with the Driver and Passenger temp numbers. It will show 88 every couple of seconds to switch between codes.

Cancelling the Self-diagnosis Function

Turn the ignition switch OFF or press the AUTO button to cancel the self-diagnosis function. After completing repair work, run the self-diagnosis function again to make sure that there are no other malfunctions

Now I dont know what the codes mean, you might be able to find out somewhere on the web, google is your friend
