Black Vinyl Wrap

A friend of mine hooked me up with some gloss black Vinyl Wrap this weekend.

Wrapped my front grill insert...............

Then we did the rear spoiler trim............

I plan to do the window trim next and tint the windows. Never been a fan of dark windows with shinny chrome surrounding them. Rather have it all black. Then, possibly, the rest of the front grill trim. Leaving Only the "A" emblem chrome.

Finally, I'd like to remove the "ILX" from the rear. Again, leaving only the "A" emblem. However, I'm still getting ideas, let me know what you think.

Don't be shy, I can handle insults. lol

Good job on the trim. Looks great!
I personally prefer the chrome since my car is white. But if I had the black one like you id black out the window trim and everything thats chrome then go with a dark tint to complete it.

Very good work.

Id never do that myself as i love the little chrome they put on these cars. Feel like taking it off is under sprucing the car but whatever makes you smile is key.

Again great job doing it yourself! I kinda cried though at you covering the chrome on the spoiler.

I can understand that.

That's what's great about Vinyl. If I don't like it, or change my mind later, it peels off in seconds.

No harm, no foul.

Just got my windows tinted. I went with 20% on the rear doors and back window.

And 50% on the front doors and windshield.

I'm pretty happy with the results. I wanted the sides and windshield to match each other, yet be lighter than the rear of the car.

I plan to Vinyl Wrap the window trim this weekend to remove that pesky chrome. I'll post up "after" shots showing how the chromeless trim looks with the newly tinted windows.

Are you going to wrap the window trim and B pillars next?? For a 3G TL look. I plan on doing so with my TSX as soon as this hurricane weather clears.

It looks good so far!

I ended up doing the Window Trim only. I left the B Pillars factory Matte Black.

I'm still deciding whether or not I like it.

Don't get me wrong, I think the black trim looks great, but now I'm starting to the think the chrome wasn't so bad after all.

Any opinions on which looks better?

My vote goes to chrome. Adds a little good taste to the appearance and looks just a tad more like a civic without the chrome.

Agree, I think it hides some of the characteristics of the car, it doesn't have much anymore when everything is black. It needs that pop!

The chrome trim looked better. It matched the chrome left on the grill and made the car look more sporty and premium. Like said before, looked like a Civic.

Is it the same gloss wrap you used before? Maybe if it was more glossy it would work (Think 3G TL).

Wow, that front grill came out looking fantastic. I love it.

As for the window trim, I dunno... I kind of like the chrome.. It just makes the side profile stand out a bit more. There's a bit of chrome around the front isnt there? It just makes everything flow nicely, especially with the wheels.

Otherwise it looks like you're going for the murdered out look, and that trend died for a reason. Please don't smoke your tail lights now, lol. Car looks fantastic.

I completely agree that the Chrome left on the Grill matches the window trim better.

That's why I plan to remove that small Chrome on the Grill, lol

I definitely don't want to go all Murdered out. Just want to remove all the chrome. I hate tinted tailights. I've leave that for the Camaro and Mustang boys.

Here's a very poor photoshop job of what all chrome removed should look like. Please forgive the quality. I am absolutely horrible at editing photos.

How is visibly at night with the windshield tinted at 50% ?
Not sure if u do alot of driving at night but i do and since i live in the huson valley, there is lil to no street lights. tinting my windows to 35% made it dark enough , i cant imagine my windshield tinited i would definitely hit a deer on the side of the road lol

NO save the CHRRROOOOOOOOMMMME

Wrap the pillars in gloss black. I did, especially with the tinted windows, it gives it a continuous window look

Night visibility is perfect. I can hardly tell it's tinted. But then again, I live in a major city. Lots of lights everywhere and at all times.

I can't really speak for back-road type areas.

I like the gloss black grill. I like how some people have wrapped it in glossy carbon fiber trim too. Keep it glossy black at least. The LED DRL's will reflect nicely off of it.

What I think could be throwing off the car is the wheels. Since you've blacked out the trim on the windows the wheels stand out more. Do you plan on getting rims for the car? Any particular style. I love the front grill and plan to do that myself but I know the wheels makes a big difference. I was thinking of doing something like this with my wheels along with painting the calipers.

^we all have different opinions.
I dont like that blue strip around the edge and I even think black wheels is a no go!

but, if you are thinking about doing it, go ahead and do it with plastidip! that way, if you dont like it you can peel it off

If I did the calipers it would be blue to match the blue strip. I asked a place for the cost and headed talking about 400 for this setup 450 with calipers. So apart of me is like just save the 450 and get new rims altogether. I haver made up my mind though.

Why don't you like the black wheels?

i prefer a little contrast. Just a little!
so, I like the blacked out theme of the ILX above, BUT I feel if the wheels were black, it would just look like a black blob!

and then, the color black makes intricate wheels lose detail.
almost like the wylie coyote and the road runners fake wall.

but of course, thats my opinion!

plastidip is $8 a can.
you can "dip" the wheels for no more than ~$60

and if you dont like the look, you can peel the 'dip' right off!

painting the caliper is pretty easy too, but you would need blue high heat paint.
