Sup guys? Been a while, but I haven't given up on the TL yet. Anywho, I was on the road yesterday and something odd happened. I took off from a dead stop at full speed and when the RPM's reached the point to were the car automatically changes gear, instead of shifting, it over reved. I tried it a few more times and it did the same thing. When I let the pedal go, it' shifts and when I drive at normal speeds, nothing happens. Any ideas?

The transmission fluid is fine in color, scent, and level. Also, no codes.

 

Sounds like your transmission is slipping.

My transmission slips too so whenever I feel like the transmission needs to shift, I let go of the gas pedal and let the transmission slip into gear.

 

Transmission slipping was my first thought when looking at the thread subject before even reading the message... Does not sound too good...

 

Oh that's got death written all over it. haha

 

oh 1 thought.. Make sure you have Honda Fluid DW-1.... At least I think it is dw-1. If you put redline in it.. It may not shift properly. And I KNOW it will not shift properly if you too much redline in it. If you recently added fluid, then drain 1 time and add 3 quarts of Honda fluid. That should fix it, IF it is a fluid problem. Even then you have to drive it easy for a few miles untill the new fluid gets circulated.. trust me.. been there!

 

Start by what would cost you the least, flush fluid and replace. Then you can change the fluid pressure switches. In all, should not cost you more than 100$, and I am being generous. Then if problem persists, you can start saving up for a rebuild.
