Anybody know how to fix this?

I was driving home yesterday and hit a big pothole (Boston ). My exhaust got really loud and then I heard something dragging. I pulled over and looked under the car and this is what I saw:

Although I was only 4 blocks from home, I decided to get the car towed so that I wouldn't crack the flex pipe on the headers from dragging this thing. It's a Comptech exhaust, dealer installed, and I tried to look up the manual but the Comptech site is way different than the last time I saw it.

My plan is to tie the pipe off the ground so that I can drive it to a shop and get it up on a lift. Do you guys have any better ideas? What should I use to tie it up?

that is pretty crazy...so the weld came off? did the shop that installed it make any modifications to it or did they just install it?

It doesn't look like it was welded but connected with that collar connector and it came loose. Should be an easy repair and I'd have the same shop that installed it repair it. How long have you had it? How long is the installation warranty on labor? You can use a clothes hanger to temporarily hold it off the ground to get it to the shop.

I noticed you are running the Cooper ZPT's. I am as well and find them a bit loud but very durable. How are you liking them?

I called up Acura of Boston, they said since it's been almost 4 years since I had the thing installed there was no installation warranty in effect. I can't miss work anytime soon to bring the car in to a local shop, so I suppose I will bring it to the dealership because they are open late. I'll post up a pic later of how I rig the thing up to be drivable, it should be entertaining

I feel the same, definitely a loud tire but they drive great! They are a very capable tire in both wet and dry conditions

Yes, I too was surprised that there wasn't a flange or a weld point. Comptech typically makes high quality products, this definitely seems to be poor design.

Its a flare in the pipe that connects to a flare of the other pipe, held together with that collar. Guess I'm going to check mine in that area as well. Should be easy for any shop to weld them together though. Doubtful they could put a new flare.

I'd still let Comptech know though.

Yes, other that the loudness, they have performed beautifully. Plus I like the looks of them too

Perhaps the collar just came loose. Can you not slide the pipe back in and tighten it? Perhaps it would be better to have it welded, but I think the collar is on there for ease of install and removal. Perhaps a new collar is needed.

I bought my comptech exhaust used and discovered that both flanges were inside the clamp and the weld had broken. a local shop welded the detached peice back on and applied some kind of high temp sealant before replacing the clamp. I paid $40 for that a while back (at least a year) and no issues since. they actually discovered a bad weld in the resonator too and took care of that at the same time...

Well I got it to the service bay yesterday with no problems! My dad helped me rig it up with a microphone stand and some in-wall speaker wire, it looked pretty ghetto but worked amazingly well. Isn't it a beautiful thing when one hobby helps another?

Pics as promised:
