Hard to start the car

Does anyone notice your car takes a few more cranks to start sometimes? Mine is stock, no mod (Please don't ) . There were a couple times that I thought it wasn't going to start. It did afterall but barely.

I've noticed it on occasion, takes a little longer to turn over and light up. I'm going to try the DIY grounding kit, see if it improves.

Owners manual states this is normal. The car is trying to find the best way to start with the lowest emissions. But if it is taking too long to start there may be another problem.

Thanks for pointing that out. I had this happen earlier today. Do you know what section of the owner's manual its in and if its an '05 what page.
I thought i read all of that.

You have to show your car love and say common baby. Starts instantly. Dont even need key once you become one with your car.

I read it was hard to start in the quick reference booklet they gave me with the car. Its one of the first things.

Yea, I don't have a clue why the battery on all new Acura's/Honda's is so cheap - but it doesn't take many CCA's to start these engines anyways.

If its really slow to start I would suggest ensuring the oil is not "thicker" than 5/30 and ensure you have the right fuel.

If the engine turns over easily, then it's not the battery. The next thing to look is fuel or ignition, but don't rule out the immobilizer system.

We've been over this many times before. The Panasonic battery in our TSX SUCKS. Dosent take a charge, isnt strong enough, drains easily, etc...

Mine will sometimes take a few extra cranks to start than the "usual" startup sequence.

According to the Quickstart manual: NORMAL. (A function of the engine management system to reduce startup emissions.)

Sun Grounding Wire System to Improve Hard Starting

I installed a Sun Grounding Wire kit just because of this situation. I thought my 04 Auto was hard starting. I did not improve a thing. Acutually while I was doing the install I noticed how well grounded the TSX is. The grouding wires are in the right place and very heavy duty. The sun system was just redundant as far as I could see. And, it did not rid me of the hard starting, and I dont think it added one iota of HP.

I have to look it up my manual again. So far, I haven't found the section yet. I have driven many other brands of cars but this is my first Honda. Are other Honda models like this too?

Guys, remember this motor is a stroker in comparison to almost all the other Hondas. It has to get over the pump/suck of these pistons. Same reason why getting it to move in 1st gear (on a 6MT of course) takes a bit more gas pedal. The K series is not like any other motor (per se).

Its there. Its in that little spiral-bound book with the plastic laminated pages with the tabs at the bottom. Its on like the first page or so under "things you should know."

I dont know if other Honda engines do this, the TSX is a fairly new model with a fairly new engine design. Mine is the first Honda/Acura product I have owned as well.

But it's really not a problem per say. It's in the manual as Brandon pointed out, Moda_way's explanation is right too, the K24 is a high compression motor
