I don't think you can go wrong either way. Whether you buy a 2004 or 2005 I think you'll be happy. We're getting this one for my son, who is in college. I drive a G35 and I am very impressed with the way the TSX feels. We are getting the manual trans, whick I think makes the 200 hp feel more like 230 hp. These are great cars and I think the residual value will be higher than that of the TL for the next few years. I hope Acura has learned from this test. They really questioned the need for this vehicle, but the sales results speak for their decision. Year to date sales have exceeded 21,000 units.

i dont think the TL is a good comparison especially the 99+ you need to compare an 02 to an 03 ....

that seams kind of odd. but i know there is no way someone will pay $2000 more for a used 05 tsx in 5 years. unless the 05 was a TSX TYPE S.

if someone came accross a 2003 TL Type S 60k miles 5 years from now with dual power seats going for $16,500 and found a 2002 TL Type S with only driver side power seat with 60k miles for $15,500 no one will buy your car for a thousand more.

im probly sounding confusing but there is no way it will be that much of a difference in resale value most people go for engine... same engine so no need to pay $2000 more for a power passanger seat. plain and simple

i don't think the price differences for powered equipment will be a lot on the used cars, i know lot of peolpe who shop for used cars actually want to stay away from powered itemd because it break down more often, thus it bring the price differeces closer (but this is within the same year model) but i already enjoy 13 month of owning an 04 TSX, i did write to Honda/Acura and complain about no power passanger seat.

New guy --- hope I read all the FAQs and "required reading". If not, sorry.

Question is on the release date for the MY05 TSX. I've heard November, December --- and even next April. My wife wants to hold out for the red/ebony combination (like others, apparently) but we don't want to wait forever. Is late November a good guess --- Maryland/DC area? (Obviously, we'll have to factor in the color specifics and packages, so that will drive this to some degree.)

That's nuts. Would YOU pay $2500 for a car based ONLY on the model year? Not me, not in a million years. What matters on the car is:
- Style, features: it's what you want to buy in the first place
- Milage: it shows you how used the car is
- Age: to a lesser degreed it also shows how used it is

If a 2004 is going to be exactly the same car as the 2005 with the same milage, it's the same car. The model year is just a number, maybe it's worth a few hundred dollars to someone but not me.

The extra features will count for something, but someone buying a used car is NOT going to be that picky. Plus you're selling to the driver so he will not likely care about the power on the passenger seat. He will probably be more interested in the lit steering wheel controls, but how much do you think that's worth to a used car buyer?

He's going to be happy to find the TSX body style he wants, in the color he wants, at the time he needs it, do you honestly think a couple of small options will make $2000 difference?

I simply stated that the resale value down the road is different for each model year. I used Kelly Blue Book. I did not use "Type S" because the price of a basic TL 3-4 years ago was the closest to the current price of the TSX. You may not care what model year a car is, but if you plan to sell it or trade it then residual value down the road is important to some folks. Reality is that 3-4 years from now a 2004 TSX with 40000 miles on it is going to have a lower Blue Book value than a 2005 TSX with 40000 miles.

I stated a range of $2000 to $2500 as a guess. When I looked at Kelly's Blue Book the difference is inside that range for 2-3-4 year old cars. There really is no way to know right now what the values will be for the TSX, but there will be a difference in model year values. Even if the difference is only $1500 some people may want to take that into consideration. In my son's case, we could have bought the exact car he wanted in late July, but he decided to wait for the 2005. Residual was part of the reason, equipment was part of the reason, Acura's potentially making production improvements was part of the reason, among other considerations. He has reliable transportation now, so we did not have to be in a hurry. Some people may be able to take advantage of getting a better deal on a 2004. You can't go wrong either way. This is a fine automobile no matter what year someone decides on buying.

i ordered my tsx last week at they told me my build date is the 16th of this month and will be at my acura dealer here in florida early october,i sure hope there right my room is not big enough for the parts i have for the car anymore

duh its common sense but it aint going to be worth $2,500 more. its the same car both years so it doesnt matter. couple options aint going to put it $2,500 more in resale value

The 16th seems a bit early for them to be making 05 MY cars. If indeed that's the case you should be able to get a VIN early next week. You'll know then if the story the dealer is telling you is true. If you can't get a VIn be prepared for a bunch of excuses.

An Acura dealer here in Canada told me that 2005 TSX's will be here in early October. Official presentation is scheduled for October 5. Can anyone else confirm this?

As for the 2004 vs 2005 resale value debate, it is generally agreed that the shorter one plans to keep the car, the more he will suffer a resale value penalty down the line. In 2 years, there will be a big difference between the resale value of a 2004 vs a 2005. In 7 or 8 years, the mileage and condition of the car will dictate the value, not the model year.

I decided a few thousand extra in my pocket now was worth more than a thousand or so 7+ years down the road, so I'm buying an MY04 (built in Aug I believe).

My dealer said the MY05's would arrive at the dealership in "6 to 8 weeks" as of yesterday, putting it at the end of Oct at the earliest.

There are several people here who are willing to pay over invoice even, so I would think no discounts for a while...

I'm finally vindicated! C&D even complained about the seats! I've held out for about a year now because of the aweful rear cushion of the TSX seats. If only, only the 05 models slightly modify the seats, I get finally buy one.

Unfortunately, I don't see any mention anywhere of Acura making seats comparable to those of Lexus, Infiniti, or BMW.

A shame.... they did everything else so well in this car!

Ok Guys.........Just got my september issue of Automobile mag. with the new car previews. According to them the new TSX will be equipped with XM satellite radio,heated mirrors and four way adjustable power passenger seat. Est. price................$27,300. They also said that a freshening will take place in 07,with possible major changes in 08. Hope this all isn't old news.

I want a TSX soo bad but I am waiting for an 05 so as I can get teh Milano red with black interior.... I really don't care for XM but the black interior is worth the wait... at least for me

Nice to have the options. I love mine (see links) with the parchment, but remember the heat issues with the black, gets hotter. One side effect though is that it can look a bit better with dirt than parchment, I'm guessing.

my current car has a tan interior and it just gets soo dirty so I am not getting anymore tan interiors... the other option I care about is the iluminated streering wheel controls but that's not a big issue for me.

One other thing I am worries about is how much of a price difference is gonna be btween the 6m and the 5A

I don't think they would add the AWD cause the car is gonna be soo heavy. I was considering the A4 before the TSX and the 1.8T quattro was just sooo heavy and not worth the AWD. On the other hand the A4 3.0 quattro was awesome but that's way above my budget.

Well, I was planning on waiting for an '05, BUT...

...sometimes making a plan is only asking for trouble.

I was selling my car myself, and was going to roll the funds directly through a dealership I've bought a few cars from in the past right into the TSX to avoid the tax hit. Unfortunately (?), somebody offered me full asking price too soon for me to get a VIN on an '05, so I had to go with an '04.

Got a Non-nav CG with Quartz interior at $400 over invoice, and as thanks to the salesman for all of his time and effort (he's taken VERY good care of us for quite a few years now) we went ahead and bought a group package of the trunk tray, mud guards and wheel locks. All-weather mats and a loaner TSX for the weekend until delivery on Monday was his response to that.

I really wanted the heated mirrors, but a call to a local custom shop said that they could pull it off for under $350 installed. An iPod hardwire, a speaker upgrade and some engine mods are also in my future.

I like tan a lot, but my current car (Legend) is golden glow exterior with a beige interior, so I'm ready for somthing different.

thats the only thing i dont like bout my milano red but...i just got my windows tinted friday and daymnnnnn...it looks sexy haha. im liking the interior now though cause it looks nice wit the windows. just my opinion.

I'm still wondering about price more than anything. I noticed a few weeks ago that my local dealer's website has adjusted the MSRP upwards from 27035 to 27060. Not a huge change by any means but kind of curious looking to me.

Acura upped the destination charge. The 05 TSX will arrive by late October. They are starting production last week of September.
