Who says it was 14mm in 2004? My 2004 brochure says 15mm.

 

Artic Blue Metallic? What's that going to look like? I just bought the Artic blue pearl. Or was it always metallic? And, what does metallic paint job look like anyways?

 

I think it's just a mistype. If it was a different color.. it'd be more obvious and be called something like.. "VIVID BLUE" or "ETERNAL BLUE PEARL"...

 

Virtually every car is that way - maybe this is a backdoor way for Acura to raise the price.

Hopefully, never. While the TSX has ample power for normal use, it would get awfully bogged down by the addition of an AWD system's weight (I shudder to think of it, considering the level of bitching we heard here when the '05 added a passenger seat motor!) and increased frictional losses. .

Sure, they could up the power to compensate, but the combo of AWD+bigger motor = good-bye sub-$30K TSX.

I could see AWD on the TL--it would kill the torque steer. But not on the TSX.

They only way I see AWD on a TSX is by adding IMA to the rear wheels. That being said, I do believe there is already an AWD version of this car in Europe (where it's an Accord).

Thats right and it uses the 2.0L 160HP engine shared with the Base RSX.

 

Last year new pricing came out Oct. 3 does anyone know WHEN pricing for '05 TSX's will come out?

 

One more mpg for 05? At least they fixed the gear ratios a bit for a better final drive gear ?

 

I actually would like to see a substantial increase in the pricing of the TSX, because:

1. Then it would make me feel better that I bought a 2004 model with less equipment (but a lower price!) LOL!!!

2. Some people may then stop complaining that it's an "econo-box"!!! LOL!!!

Seriously, the price probably will go up a little bit, but not by so much that it will then cannibalize the TL.

 

If history is any indication, look for about a $500 increase. Considering some of the new things included the car will be about the same price or less in real terms.

 

Anyone know when the 2005s will actually hit the showrooms? I have only heard a rumor that it will be October 23, but that is not confirmed.

Trying to decide on whether to pull the trigger now on a 2004 or wait later for the 2005s. Leaning towards the 2005 not only for the new features, but better resale value down the road.

 

the closest dealer - Orr Acura in Shreveport, La, told me their initial order , placed about 2 weeks ago, should not be here until Nov. Damn.......Thats 2 months.... oh well, those lighted steering wheel controls better be cool.....

 

I heard early October from the internet sales department at Acura of Portland. if they are right or not, but I think I'll wait.

 

I have ordered a 2005. I just talked to my dealer and they have received confirmation of a November build date. (They expect it to be built early Nov with a mid to late Nov. delivery date. All TSX are built in Japan. I placed my order about 2 months ago and my vehicle will be the first 05 TSX delivered to my dealer.

 

For reference to expected pricing, the RSX is up about $250. Also, there is some "buzz" that there may be a different price for manuals and automatics.

 

This seems to reinforce what I said before, I expect no MSRP change for the 2005 models. Look at all the changes on the RSX and they only raise it $250! I remember back when the 2001 model S2000 came out, its MSRP remained the same even though several features were upgraded or made standard -- only the destination charge went up (and only slightly).

 

The 6MT will stay the same while the AT will be up $400.

 

Biker... Is that actually confirmed? Where did you hear about the $400 increase on the AT? I place my order on an '05 TSX a while ago and was given an instant $500 rebate on the MSRP (whatever it turns out to be) becasue the dealer did not know what the actual MSRP was. I am getting the 6MT CG with Navi, so the $400 increase on the AT won't affect me, but knowing an actual confirmed number would be nice.

 

Thanks for the replies. A dealer near Seattle mentioned "sometime in October." It's possible that dealerships receive a general first shipment by the end of Oct., while special orders will arrive in Nov.

 

What kind of discount did you get on the 2005? If you order so early they must think you're a sure sell so I wouldn't expect them to lower the price a heck of a lot...

 

Our TSX is going to be in the first shipment delivered to the dealer in Nashville, TN. My vehicle was ordered along with others that the dealer will have in their inventory.

geez it is not worth it IMO. 5 years from now no one is going to care about lighted steering wheel controls and XM radio, no one is going to pay for it in 5 years when they add the price to like $30 a month for xm

i jus think its funny how people think an 05' will be worth a lot more for resale, they didn't change anything ( IMO ) to be worth anymore than an 04'

when i had my integra i was looking for a 98+ because of the body differences. a 97 compared to a 98 would be a big difference in resale value. TSX 04' compared to 05' aren't going to be different.

 

The 05 will have a higher resale because it is a year newer than the 04. Say you were going to buy a used car today, what sounds better a 1999 or 2000? The 99 may have been built in the last month of the year but the 00 sounds a lot newer even if it was only built a month later.

 

3 or 4 years from now a 2005 TSX will have a resale of
about $2000 to $2500 more than a 2004. That's worth waiting a month or two in my opinion

 

That's a little optimistic. Maybe $1000 to $1500 tops.

 

Since there was no TSX 3 years ago I'll provide the current values of a TL 3.2 which had a comparable retail price as the current TSX. A 2001 TL with 40000 miles in excellent condition has a retail value of $20,980 while a 2000 TL with 40000 miles in excellent condition has a retail value of $18,795. The difference is $2,185, which is about the middle of the range I projected as a guess. Current retail value of a 1999 TL with 40000 mi in exc cond is $16,600.

 

Thanks ccin, that comment alone made me change my mind from buying an 04 to a 05. I was thinking of how I wouldn't spend another $1000+ for XM radio, passenger powerseat.. but if they are also worth $1000-2000 more in 3-4 years.. it makes sense to go with the 05.

 

Yeah, it'll make us 04-purchasers feel a lot better if the prices significantly rises (1k~2k), but that won't be the case.
