Simple really:
Good = TSX with one autoup
Better = TL with two autoup
Best = RL with all four autoup

I hope this means we'll see some meaningful small upgrade -- like memory seats -- for the 2005s for roughly the same pricing.

If that's the only reason, then Acura is really insulting the intelligence of it's buyers. That's probably why they won't put a memory seat in the TSX too. Heck, maybe it is time I leave the Acura/Honda family!

If it awards better PERCEPTION of value without requiring that much more REAL value, then why not? it's the smart thing for the automaker to do (increased profits)!
The best part is that if you look at the wiring diagram, THE RELAY IS ALREADY THERE.

All four window switches have mircoprocessor-controlled relays inside.

Does that mean you could somehow rig them to have the auto/up/dwn feature??

How insulting can it be, afterall, nobody figured this out before......

It continues:
Good = TSX with 6 disc changer
Better = TL with 6 disc changer + DVD Audio
Best = '05 RL with 6 disc changer + DVD Audio + Bose

Good = TSX with 200 hp
Better = TL with 270 hp
Best = '05 RL with 300hp

Good = TSX with HID low beams
Better = TL with HID low + high beams
Best = '05 RL with HID + high beams = swiveling lights

Good = TSX at 183 inches
Better = TL at 186 inches
Best = '05 RL at 193 inches

Colin,
All the stuff you mention (in your reply to my post) are substantial changes that cost more that a couple dollars -- unlike $2 relays that Acura is holding out of the TSX. That's what makes it so insulting.

He, He, spoken like a True Audiophile! Believe me, my Maggies look down on Bose everyday!

If all Acura needs to do is add a new switch and a relay, I'd imagine the TSX is slated for auto up windows duing it's product cycle.

So does anyone else think the 2005 TSX might get a small bump on HP? Until 2005 RSX info came out, I didn't think there was any chance the 2005 TSX would get any more power, but now I'm really wondering. Will Acura really want a car in their line-up that's about $3,200 more (than the RSX-S) to have less HP?

They did it for years with the RL/TLs but I agree that Acura seems to be thinking differently with Colliver in charge.

The more I think about it a HP bump makes more sense for the 2005 model. By the time the 05s are out the TSX will be about 1.5 years old, and with the hybrid TSX most likely due in late 2006 (as a 2007 model) it seems now would be the time -- especially so as not to let the substantially cheaper RSX have HP bragging rights.

So, if the changes that were mentioned above does take place (drl, heated mirrors, adjusted side mirror, XM radio, memory seats, etc.) who's considering a trade-in?

20-40hp & torque increase will tempt me for a trade-in, but everything else, in my opinion, is just minor changes

Somewhere on the forum posted by NJTSX, he said he worked for Acura and that Bluetooth was definitely in the 05 TSX

If that is indeed the 05 TSX, it looks like they squared off the front bumper a little.

Nope. It's the same picture from the '04 brochure. The one that seduced me into getting a CG...

The TSX is already about $2,000 overpriced in some respects. Adding all these features will only raise the price. There is only a $6,000 difference between the TL and the TSX and adding all those things will decrease this margin, reducing the value of this car.

The TSX is supposed to set you up for a TL later in life.

While I agree that the options will likely give the car a less than attractive price but that hasn't deterred BMW and MB from doing just that for years. It's not too hard to option a 3 series beyond the MSRP of a higher three or even some 5 series. Likewise for MB.

I'm curious though, what makes you think the TSX is $2000 overpriced? Everything I can compare it to it's about $3000 - $4000 underpriced when you compare apples to apples.

Judging by the sales, I'd say they priced it well

I think xm is just a fad that will take a few years to fade.

XM is not a fad. Now that I have it that is all I listen to in the car. It will do to FM what Dish and DirectTV are doing to cable. No commercials, huge selection of music genres. The only thing that will happen is between XM and Sirius, only one will probably survive. And I will bet it is XM since they have more car companies signed up, better capitalization, more subscribers, and higher end equipment manufacturers. And Delphi makes the best receiver at the low end.

After a couple of weeks of driving I don't even look down anymore. I know where they are by feel.

(I wish I could say the same for the door locks. Must be a mental block or something)

If after driving the car a couple times you still don't remember where the steering wheel controls are, you need to have your head checked.

The thing I don't like about the door locks is that the switch seems reversed to me. Pushing the back to make the doors unlock seems unnatural.

Yes. I have the 5AT and the SS seems backwards also. Forward to upshift, back to downshift. takes a little getting used to and I would have overrevved a couple of times if not for the fact that it IS AT. Just takes getting used to I guess.

The Mazda 3's SS is the opposite of the TSX's. I found myself constantly downshifting the M3 in a recent test drive. Its definenty all a matter of what your used to.

For $6,000 more you can buy a TL. (that's about $120 per month more) I happen to prefer the TSX to the TL for many, many reasons. But remember, only 16,000 or so TSXes are produced per year, a drop in the bucket.

Compared to a BMW, the TSX is a great deal. But let's be honest, the BMW is RWD and the name does have cachet, which is important for many people. I think if the TSX listed at $25,035 we would sell a ton of them. Would be tough to keep it on the floor. But we constantly get compared with the Accord.

IF Acura would add Bluetooth, seat memory settings, maybe a LSD for the 6MT, and give us the 210 HP engine of the 05 RSX I could see the 27k sticker.

When the TSX starts coming off of 2 or 3 year leases it will be THE car to own. The price will be perfect and it is such a great car that it will be a bargin.

Just my 2 cents.

The total is around 43,000 TSXs (and counting) in 18 months.

While it doesn't list at that price you can get close to that with a non Navi model.

You can't have every option of the higher level car - then what would be the point of the higher level car?

It is already the car to own - but yes it will make a great used car purchase.

And to add to biker's bit, the engine from the RSX will never go in the TSX. It doesn't have enough torque for the heavier TSX.

That comparison is WAY off dude! XM cost $$ while FM is free, whereas satellite TV (Dish and DirecTV) is cheaper than cable. Satellite TV is taking over some of cable's market share because they offer same product (essentially) for less money. The same cannot be said for XM. I don't see the need for XM radio once people have huge selections of music on harddrives (a la iPod) in their cars.
