2005 TSX Rumors/News -- Availability info from Justin P.21 *MSRP $26,990* Pg 22

Ok guys ... got a suggestion to create this (which was a good one).

If you have any information that you contributed to prior threads go ahead and put it in here. Rumors or confirmed stuff is ok. That way somone looking to decide between a 2004/2005 can make as much of an informed decision as possible.

But in the end ... we all know the 2004 TSX will be the best one every made

Here's what Acura should be doing for the 2005 models:
1) a couple memory settings for the driver's seat
2) better gearing on 6th gear so as to make it a real crusing gear (thus yielding 33mpg)
3) better looking 17s (that don't look like the 16s on the V6 Accord)
4) tone down that silver interior trim (more like what is in the TL)
5) fix the window seals so they don't scratch window tint

1) That would be nice. I'd take power passenger seats first though. It's standard on the Accord so why not their premium model?
2) I regularly get 30+ mpg on long trips so 6th is fine for me. 2nd gear is the one that needs some work.
3) I guess that's personal preference but I actually like the OEM wheels (I've got 2 sets of them ). A performance tire/wheel option package would be pretty nice.
4)
5) I have a feeling this is pretty low on their priority list. All you need to do is have your tint installer to put some felt (moleskin) on the inner wiper and the problem is solved.

I think more realistically they should offer some of the features of the Canadian spec model on the US model such as windshield washer fluid warning and heated mirrors.

Do you have any idea how expensive those rattles are to create? It takes months of effort from R&D and Engineering to ensure that some podunk dealer can't just fix 'em.

10) xm and real-time traffic on the navi (per the RL) but this probably won't trickle down to the TSX for another year or two.

6). Would be nice. I'd rather have it for the other windows, though...
7). We don't need GM innovations...
8). I've said enough about that one...
9). This one I'd really like to see!
10). Would be very very sweet.

I'd like to see:
Taller 6th gear
Performance wheel/tire option

Edit: How come no one ever talks about the '05 TL?

real necesities for the car are power passenger seats, illuminated steering wheel controls, and any other features of the Accord. Why doesn't the TSX get that cool key fob with the key inside of it a la Accord?

If Acura were to add power passenger, rain-sensors, lighting on the steering wheel, auto-down windows, they could hike the price up to 28k and 30k for Navi. I think that's pretty respectable. Only problem is it makes for an issue with the TL. For 3k more, you can sacrifce Navi for a V6 and more options. Adding more features into the TL and boosting the price 1k would allow for Acura to do what I'd like for them to do to the TSX. But Acura isn't like BMW, MB, and Lexus. They attack the niche, we've discussed this before. We just have to wait and see.

The last thing I heard from the Acura dealer was that the '05 will be $1500US more and most likely the only changes will be power passenger seat/memory settings and XM Radio. That's it. Now, he could be totally wrong, but that's the last I heard.

No, back when we were heavy into TL talk that site was slow. Since Soopa took it over alot of the TL peeps seemed to have moved over there. Not that they were all here, but the guys who were hear are now there.

As for 05 and beyond. I'd love to see the return of the Type S Acura's. IMO, this A-Spec stuff although new has already failed. The package with installation is simply too expensive and worst of all there are no power upgrades. Acura seems to think they can pull the wool over our eyes with these packages but I just don't think its working. Why not have the package installed at the factory so to at least save us the install fees? Or was the entire A-Spec idea conceived by dealers to increase profits???

Lets see a TSX Type S with the 25 more HP way of an 8K redline ala Type R and a stiffer suspension for about 4K more. Now we're talking

I hear the power passenger seat is coming, but I still think the TSX needs the memory on the driver's seat.

Okay, but by making 6th gear a TRUE crusing gear -- as it should be -- you'd likely be getting 33-34mpg!

Fair enough, they are starting to grow on me.

Probably so, but I've heard about moleskin coming off (after the adhesive on the back gets too warm) so I'm not sure that's a permanent fix.

I don't see why IMA and SH-AWD couldn't work together but I think it will be later than '06 before we see it in the TSX. The TL needs to get it first so if the TSX gets it probably won't be until the next redesign.

I am thinking a co-launch. Maybe SH-AWD for TL and IMA for TSX in '06? We need for the Oracle to go deep undercover and starting buying more lunches for his Honda CHQ buddies

So then the reason we talk about the new RL the same way is because there's no acura-rl.com?

I think we talk about it because we're interested, as we were in the 04 TL. The difference being, how many people here are actually going to buy one? I'd guess noone or 2 at best. I mean we can rule you out since there's no MT I'm sure there are other places on the net to talk 04 RL but since we're not THAT interested since we're not buying, then why bother searching. And then there's the jsw factor

Hey guys, can we call the 06 SH-AWD IMA TSX the Type S :o

The '05 TSX needs atleast a power passenger's seat, heated mirrors, accord style key/remote combo and XM radio. One touch sunroof, selectable automatic lights, foglights standard, lighted steering wheel controls and AWD would be nice as well.

If the 2005 has XM and power passenger seat, I will pay the difference over the better priced exiting '04. Especially if the XM is routed through the navi like the TL.

I don't think we can expect much more than that as far as changes for the '05 (except maybe a different color and the deletion of MSM)

FYI, I am hearing those will be on the 2005 models, but I'm still hoping Acura bucks-up to add a memory setting for the driver's seat -- at least on the 6MT models (because that's where it's really needed). I don't expect base pricing to change at all although the might raise the dest. fee a little.

why would a memory setting be important for a 6MT?

At all i would expect acura to give is power passenger and XM, adding more features would almost make it a TL.

Ever tried driving a MT with the seat in the wrong position? What I was trying to imply was that memory seats are a lot more important for a MT car than one with AT. Besides I know that 6MT costs less than that 5AT so since they are priced the same the MT buyer should be getting something an extra!

I don't think adding memory seats would "almost make it a TL". Have you driven a TL? It's very different than the TSX. As much as I want memory seats, I know I wouldn't by a TL to get them. And it has nothing to do with price (or what I can afford) I just didn't like the TL.

Why is everyone caught up on memory seats? Easy fix to that is not to let anyone else drive your car- the seat will never be moved.
