check on how much oil you have in. if oil pressure is too low it will not go into vtec. or it could be a bad vtec solenoid, or oil pressure sensor. theres gobbs of sensors that can thro codes for air fuel mixture. make sure there are no vaccume leaks, and make sure everything is plugged in.. look around the oil filter and there should be 3 to 4 connectors there, make sure they are all installed all the way and not loose. an check the vtec solenoid to make sure its actually plugged in. check all that stuff and post back.. if its running fine up to that point its got to be something simple.

last time this happened i went to honda and did an oil change and it stopped the problem, what really bothers me its that this is a completely different engine. two engines doing the same thing seems like a computer problem.

if you can get hold of a cheap ecu give it a try. or try to shoot the wire going to the oil pressure sensor, there is two of them one for the light in the dash and one for the vtec solenoid.

I took the power off the battery and it made the problem go away. This is the second time i have done it in probably 2-3 months. well see if it works.

Ive learned over time that with cars if u ignore something, then it cost more $$ to fix later..

Im having multiple problems with a 99 CL. First, the transmission is going out. My new problem is that when I took it to a transmission shop to put it on the computer, there are NO codes that show up, just Zeros. I took this car to an Acura dealer 3 days ago. I do not know if they put it on the computer or not , they just told me it needed a new transmission. Now I wonder if they could have done something to it to keep anyone from seeing what is wrong with the car?

No they didn't do anything wrong to the car, a lot of times the codes just don't get triggered until the tranny fails. Does it give you problems on a cold start first thing after you started it up? That's the only way I could get the tranny shop to even find my problem, had to leave it there a few days and fight with them about it b4 they even recognized a problem

RE 99CL computer failure

It does this cold or hot. Im hoping that its just the solenoids. The transmission shop felt like they could find the problem if they had time to wipe out the computer and reformat it, by reloading the program. So you dont think that the computer is out... its just a glitch that can be fixed?
