Transmission jolt/slip

Hello all, I have a 25 that when driving uphill and then downshifting, I am getting a forceful jolt, or maybe it's slipping the gear? Only 4500 miles. My first AWD vehicle.

Is this a known issue? Not sure I want to keep it long term if it's damaging something.

No, if you can replicate the issue, I would go to the dealer.

What speed and throttle inputs do you see this happening at? The 10 speed in this car can be known to gear hunt a bit, and sometimes abrupt changes in throttle input can "trick" it into a rough shift. But such a thing should be pretty rare. If you're getting ugly shifts consistently under normal driving situations, definitely get it looked at.

There is a particular hill i drive up anytime i go into town, and i typically am not going fast (~45 mph) because i let gravity slow me towards the top so i don't have to brake on the way down.

So at most i have about 15-25% throttle going up. and it seems to happen once i lose that momentum and it downshifts. So to answer your question the throttle is very consistent, and at most, modest in any changes.

I just know how it will go at the dealership, they will want to drive it, then wont be able to replicate it, and even if they do, i doubt they will do anything about it. Acura Little Rock is not great.

also, should i decide to sell it, i don't want it to hurt the value.

Appreciate the replies and input

Its normal to downshift when going up hill, but it should not slip or be very jerky. Are you sure its slipping or
just normal downshift that makes RPM go up?

At 4500 miles, I'd take it to the dealer to get it looked at and documented, maybe make a recording of it.

I would see what they say, maybe see if they will do trans service for you, If not do it yourself and see if it fixes the issue.

Something to try, if traffic conditions will allow is to engage cruise control at the bottom of the hill. Maintain cruise control to the top and see if you get the same shift behavior. This takes the driver out of the picture.
