Finally did the ole' p0401 job! Cleaned out the EGR ports and the throttle body and yes, the ports were clogged up with mad gunk! I actually didn't have a cel or any issues, just thought since it was a beautiful day here in New England I would tackle this job! I honestly can't say that the car is running any smoother than it did to begin with but at least I know it's done. Also threw some more dynomat on my rear dexk and trunk lid(still rattles). Anyone here have a rattle free trunk area?

My trunk doesn't rattle, I used dynamat spray foam on every crack and crevice on my trunk lid. My rattle came from my spoiler, which I also filled with dynamat spray

I have the sheets which I covered every hole with, and I put 2 nice size pieces up in the 2 holes closest to the latch before covering them. Still rattles dead center trunk. Annoying as hell to say the least. Might have to try the foam.

I backed into a no parking sign on a delivery... Scraped paint is all, but I am NOT happy. Also got new silverstar headlights bulbs a few days ago. Going to talk to a tuned shop tomorrow to plan stuff out!

Distributor O-Ring replacement. There was oil everywhere in that area and inside the distributor. Hopefully the O-Ring was the culprit. Only time will tell.

Properly torqued down the spark plug after it shot out of the engine. It has been backing out since about november when I first figured it was piston slap making all that noise. No more car shopping (for now) to replace the CL. No more knocking noise.

replaced my leaking valve cover gaskets and the upper intake manifold gasket, and while i was there i cleaned out the egr port. and while i had the valve covers off i did a valve adjustment. they werent off by too much but i figured id spend the extra half hour while i was there.

Valve adjustment a tough job? Something a DIY'er can accomplish? I did the EGR ports last week myself. Is there instructions anywhere here on valve adjustment?

eh, not something id recommend trying unless you knew what you were doing. its a pretty precise thing. and you need special gauges to measure the gap. but if you know someone thats done it and can be there and walk you through it, then its not too hard to do.

Yeah, I have a slight ticking that I suspect could be a valve or lifter. It's nothing major but enough for me to want to do something about it. I saw an eric the car guy diy on some sort of honda/acura. Didn't seemn too hard, but not easy at all. Thanks for the advice!

yeah, i mean, if you have the right tools its not too hard. just getting the valves in the right position and having the right gauges. and knowing how to NOT over tighten something.. lol then youd be in a whole world of trouble. but its also not something id suggest going to a shop for. 90% of shops are gonna charge you 4.5 hours of labor. which is insane. its about 20 minutes to get the valve covers off and on (each time) and about half an hour of adjusting (for a v6) so all together its probably an hour and a half to two hours worth of work if you take your time. not worth the 500 bucks youll pay someone else to do it for you

Oil changed after making it a weekend job. I roll up on the ramps and get under thinking I can use my roomates adjustable wrenches. No luck and Im doing damage to the drain plug. I go out get a 12 point socket wrench but the bolt is already rounded too much. I figure if I take it to a shop they will have something that'll do the job. The local sears automotive place say if they cant take if off I can get a second plug put in or worst case a whole new oil pan. Anyway they cant take it off or don't but either way I'm thinking about getting a vice grip and using some muscle. I stop by autozone an they have these suregrip sockets for rounded nuts and bolts and a new bolt. Worked like a charm. Lessons learned nothing like have the right tool for the job

I broke the end of a ratchet off into the transmission drain plug a while back trying to change the fluid. Had to drill it out and what should have been a half hour job became a 4 hour project! Lol

For anyone that wants to put teins basic coilovers on their CL, I've had mine on for 50K miles and it still runs smooth. I take turns pretty hard, so I'm not very gentle with my suspension. Also, gonna put an indash navi in my car soon. what do you all think of the pioneer avic series?
