Did the clear diffuser delete on my taillights earlier tonight. LEDS are definitely way more defined and look sharper. Took way longer than expected though. Not sure if this only applies to the 07-08's, but right above the exhaust there was a clip that was an epic pita to remove. Mind boggling why they would place it there.

I've seen a plug for Reflections Autobody here...anyone else I should consider? I've got a cracked foglamp on my 4G, and the dealer wants $500 for it. I'm not convinced I can do a lot better, but I still take issue with 5 bills for a lamp.

Saw a white TSX with a Greddy exhaust and rims in the twin brooks/southside area. Anyone know him? haha

@sockpuppet - Replacing the fog lamp is actually not that hard to do, I'm sure you can find fog lamp kits on ebay, buy some Lamin-X to protect it and read up on some DIY..much cheaper route. Anyone shop should be cheaper than the dealership tho.

I'd also recommend having a stab at a DIY for it. Grab some "lexan" from Home Depot and try to replace the lens on your own. I'll be attempting to do that to my own cracked fog light one of these weekends. No way I'm paying over $300 for a new lamp when it seems to be a relatively basic repair.

Everything I've read says that the bumper has to come off. Even the dealer said they experimented with just removing the plastic underneath, but no dice. Perhaps the 3G is easier?

The real cost appears to be the part. $335 for the lamp, and about $150 for the labor. Never thought of simply replacing the lens with lexan; wonder if heat from the halogen bulb would be a problem. Would still have to take off the bumper, I'll bet.

I'm running ebay fogs with HID bulbs, I'm sure lexans should be fine. Haven't run into any problems, you can probably do it from the plastic underneath but it's a whole lot easier to do with the bumper off. I have had Lamin-X film on my fogs for 2 years+ now and they still haven't cracked with HIDs.

Are there any DIY's for front bumper removal over in the 4G section? For the 3G, it's not too bad. Remove a few bolts by the wheel wells and take off those annoying black plastic clips all along the bottom of the bumper that always like to get stuck. I've broken/damaged way too many to count while modding.

There has been no reported problems with heat on lexan seeing as how most members who have done the mod are running 35w HID's. It's not possible to fix the lens without taking the bumper off on the 3G so I can only assume it would be the same for the 4G.

That raises an entirely new question; perhaps instead of replacing my lens/lamp, I should simply upgrade to HID or LED. Does this generally involve a "kit" that installs into the existing lamp assembly, or is it an entirely new unit? and if the latter, how is the fit and performance versus OEM?

Upgrading to HID greatly improves the look of the vehicle and allows you to see more of the road at night, as the light fans outward. Correct it is usually an HID kit that includes the bulbs, harness, and ballasts. It should mostly be all plug and play so no need for wire cutting/splicing. I'm not sure who runs LED in their fog lamp assembly but the majority of owners on the forums decide to go the HID route. It would be best to have the front bumper off for this install since it would allow you to find a safe place to mount the ballasts.

Hey guys, I know some of you have experience baking open headlights. My buddy and I will be using a heat gun to open ours, we already tried on my older stock set with success. Which sealant and where can I get some?

You guys might be at it for a while with a heat gun, depending on what the existing sealant is like. When Myron helped with mine, I had to bake them for way longer than 20 minutes since it was being a pita. If we waited too long after taking them out, the sealant re-bonded. I have the Nissan butyl sealant that I used with mine, absolutely no condensation and it's been a year already. Same stuff the headlight vendor JnC uses. I can sell you enough of it to do your headlights for $5/pair.

Our first time trying/practicing on my old stock headlights doing it with a heatgun took around 30-40 minutes each. So it wasn't too bad haha..I actually just bought some parts from TheRetroFitSource since they are having a garage sale on some old but brand new parts and bought some of the Butyl rubber glue from them too..If I saw your msg earlier I would've bought some Butyl off you. I went to visit Auto Obsessed the other day, place is looking good! I also heard what happened to your car..hope you get your rear bumper fixed!

installed iMitchell's coils on a buddy's TL. He's still waiting for the lipkit to be painted but it should be this week sometimes, then we are installing it.

I am helping him with some mods that's it. If I had my TL still those coils would be mine, and I would be slammed on axis

Hopefully your butyl holds up nicely. Myron used a different sealant on his headlights and got some condensation shortly after.

Haha yeah I got my whole rear bumper situation sorted out. Did you pick up a nice haul from the store?

Looks good! Is that with the spacers on all corners?

This Sunday evening?

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of detailing Ricky's ride. I barely took any pictures since I was pressed for time. This is more or less what happened for the entire car:

@ Vince - I got the butyl from The Retro Fit Source, OEM quality sealant glue so it should be ok. I only got a few items like wheel cleaner and another EZ detail brush cause I left mine at the car wash last year. My car is in need of a hardcore detail tho..you want to do mine one day? haha :P

Ricky, I might make it to the meet if it's on a sunday afternoon.

Vince, great work as usual. I have a question, how much does it cost to refreshen my front seats? You had a write up a year ago where you baked the seats with some bag or whatever that is. It's an eye-sore right now, I'm even looking at buying new seats.

Do you find those EZ detail brushes have a lot of splash back? They're good brushes but my arms are always covered in brown specks after cleaning wheels. Haha PM me if you're interested in a detail

Haha yeah definitely try the Leatherique treatment before you jump the gun and get new seats. I'll have to ask my buddy about it but I'll send you a PM when I have more details.

New bumper nice! Or is that your current bumper refinished? Either way it's looking good.
