Fun story first....then rant........

I left town this weekend with some friends and had nice break. On the way back from East Texas coming up highway 80 to 635 i run into an SRT-4 and Viper powered 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10. It turns into a car dodging contest but nobody is really going anywhere....so I lay off till we get to 635.

So getting on to 635 I am 1/2 mile behind the rookies.....so I floor it....for a loooooooooooong time......all the way past the exit for 30 and then some. Long story short I passed the Viper truck and SRT-4 at 133 mph while they were farting around at 90.

OK so let my rank begin.

Today has been the toughest day as an Acura owner yet. I had one simple problem, I had some strange noise coming from the center console/stereo area whenever I would accelerate or brake (since the day I got the car). I would always hear something sliding foward when braking and something sliding back when I punched it.

9 am. I begin the hunt for the noise...take out glove box.

9:30 no luck start removing trim and center console.

10 still nothing...remove trim around shifter, ash tray

10:30 , trim under dash and trim around glove box.

11 test drive...still noise

12 remove passenger seat

12:30 remove radio

12 pull carpet back.....still noise... at this point I am driving around my neighborhood flooring it......then slamming the brakes on....STILL THAT F*****KING NOISE!!!!

1 eat...........

1:30 I have my wife in the car with me as a speed around neighborhood. She is lying on the passenger floor (no seat) while I drive like Al Unser all over Richardson. She isolates the noise to my under carper AC vents dumping out behind the front seats. So I drop her off and begin the process of moving whatever it is to the back so I can get it out!

2 Turns out my previous owner had slipped a ballpoint pen into the passenger underseat airvent and a cigarrette lighter under the driver's. Nice one chump monkey nad.

2:30 Pissed, but relieved I press on.

3 begin to reassemble....get about 30% done...then realize my radio is asking for the "CODE"...........shit. This car came with no manuals...so off to the dealer I go.

3:15 Luckily McDavid in Plano hooked me up with a no cost code lookup....but....i have to remove my shifter trim and the radio on the fly so he can get the code off the bottom of the unit.....nice one chump ass clown.....anyway..he calls get code and off i go....

4:00 Just about to get on 190 and realize my SRS light is on....TURN AROUND you sack smaking retard....back to the dealer only to find out that is a $90 charge to """""Reset""""" my SRS system. Apparently you can't disconnect your seats or the computer gets pissy. FINE ASS ZIT!!!!!

4:05 Head back home and begin full car reassemble......But notice something funny....transmission is shifting wierd....kinda lurchy and spastic....PISSED...but need to assemble the car...Focus idiot FOCUS@!@!@!!@@!....

4:15 Get home and my driveway looks like a damn swap meet... I have parts laying EVERYWHERE!!! My TL's innards are spread in 9 different diretions in my driveway and yard. Then....I focus....hard.....My hands fly like the trade winds from the days of yore!!!! I am moving so fast my tools are begging for a break. I reassemble the entire interior of my car in record time. (minus the lighter and pen of course) and then decide to drive it for a last check.

5:45 Tired.....very tired....but she needs to be tested... Sounds good no sliding mystery items in the console...she sounds tight. But wait...that transmission....still acting up. Let's push the old ho and she what she's got. At 190 and Jupiter I floor it on the access road. 1 gear.....2nd......VROOOOOOOM something goes wrong going into 3rd.... she revvs and hangs for a second...then CLUNK...she drops into 3rd....

6:00 PISSED..... I call Carl and Acura and say I am on my way with a blown 3rd gear and a crapped transmission..... I proceed to test the 3rd gear theory all the way to the dealer...every time she hangs and revs for a couple of seconds then convulses into 3rd gear.

6:15 Got a TSX loaner and I come home to cry my eyes out to you monkey's.

 

It's because jatt sent out hallmark cards with pictures of his hairy bonch and said he'll come and cement himself to to everyone in that thread's mailboxes, if they didn't post like mad and catch up.

well.. at 58k, warranty is over.
check engine light went off tonight. i guess its wait-and-see time.. fingers crossed that it doesnt come back.

 

First i cant believe you all would even think about banning trance, he is the one that comes up with all the meets. He feeds you guys, lets you crash at his place. He is the glue to us. He keeps us getting together and having a great time at that.

Yeah, the days have been going much quicker lately since I've been swamped and I'm making some extra $$$ to pay for all the stuff I'm buying for the hizzie.

 

Well my interesting ACURA story today is a WEIRD one. So my transmission i think is about to take its offical So I call the Dealership to make an appointment. The service rep ask me what for and I told him tranny issue. First thing right off he says do you have aftermarket parts. I said yea doesnt everybody. I have HEADERS and INTAKE, so he was like well it might not be warrantied. So im like WTF is this shit. You could tell in his voice he was being a total COCKMOUTH. So I said whatever put me down for tuesday. I swear if this fucker says its not warrantied i think i might drive my car into the dealership and say FAWK IT.

So I got the call from the Acura dealer today. My transmissions has in fact blown 3rd gear....so one new transmission on its way. But on another note Carl had a laundry list of problems that I "need" to get fixed, so I need your input.

1. SRS light reset $90. This is the problem from my post yesterday.
2. Battery cable the terminal is corroded $175 including labor.
3. Front and Side motor mounts are broken $340
4. New battery $100 (partially covered by them)

So all told he is aksing for me to shell out $700............

Thoughts?

 

1. Fucking Bullshit - shouldn't charge for that
2. See #1 - I don't think it would cost $175 bucks to replace a terminal
3. Should be done under warranty if your still in it
4. Could be done by you for a lot less

Personally, I would say screw it and get it done myself. The only thing I would probably do is the SRS light

 

Thats such a crock of shit...They cant void your warranty b/c of after market parts, especially ones that dont affect the tranny in any way, shape, or form....I'm with Mantis tell the service advisor to suck it sideways

 

I wouldnt pay for that shit, no way. Had the same corrision on my previous car, got it fixed for like 30 bucks at like kwik car or some similar type place. Doesnt get below zero here very often so battery I bought at Walmart for like 40 bucks. As far SRS thats just ridiculous that they wanna charge u for something thats so simple to solve. Motor mounts, man I would argue that shit, tell the POS tranny caused extra stress on teh engine and that just snowballed

so does anbody have a good guy up there to deal with? I am dealing with Carl Dehls. I think they should cover the motor mounts, but my car is an 02 with 70k. The battery is crap and the batter terminal is a load of crap too. As for the SRS light...that is horse crap, but I dont' know that I have a choice.... $700 is off the chain.

Well talk to the manager at ORR ACURA and he was a pretty cool guy. He agreed with me and said that headers didnt have anything to do with my tranny. He apoligized(sp) and said to bring it in and ask for April. So let me say thanks to Ethan for suggesting to call the Manager to you my friend
