you wouldn't use the same exact two turbos for a twin turbo set-up. the idea is for one to spool first and give boost while the other larger (taking longer time to spool up) can provide greater boost.

Well, actually, what we werte thinking was to put one turbo on each manifold. I would use the top section (or whatever you want to call it-the section that bolts to the block), of the comptech headers. Then instead of bolting on the bottom section, I would fab up a custom turbo mounting plate that would bolt to the trubo on one end and the comptech headers on the other. Then, run the two "presurrized" lines through a front mount, and into the throttle body.
So, instead of sequential turbos, in a sence what you describe-a smaller turbo to help boost pressure to spool the larger turbo-it would be a relatively "simple" fab job. The only problem would then be tuning it. I would defin. get a S-AFC, but after that, we would have to see what would happen as far as ecu goes.

So, knowing that, what y'all think??

As you may be able to tell, I am a little !

Oh yeah, we (my 240 friends who are currently building a 500 hp monster!) are thinking the T-28's cause they will be spool rather quickly with our high compression and put down some serious, but not stupid fast numbers. I was considering the T-25, but we ruled that out thinking it would be too small.

i ordered an a-pillar cover that does not have a hole cutout for a tweeter cover. They say its pretty easy to do, i just dont have steady hands. They say you can take the tweeter cover and etch the shape and then dremel it.

Doesn't sound like it is too hard at all. what ya planin on doin?? Is your stock one dead?? Gettin' gauges?

I would have no problem doing it, but, I am in Austin. Hit up mantis or ruf, if they can't do it, I am sure that they can tell you someone who can.

ATXCLS,

I'm just adding a Boost Gauge and EGT Gauge on the drive a-pillar. The problem is the A-pillar gauge pod for the gauges is a cover of the factory one. Also, it does not have the hole cutout for the flust mounted tweeter that is installed on the factory a-pillar. I'll probably have Alamo Autosports do it.

atxcls: sounds like a good idea but I'm not sure how large a T-28 is so I can't exactly say if that turbo would be good for the job. from my experience with 6 cylinder motors (300zx), it's much easier to tune and deal with one boost curve on a single turbo rather than dealing with two together. I'm sure the 3 cylinders in our engine can make plenty of air flow volume as well as velocity to power up a single turbo that would make very little lag. Also, your best bet before choosing a turbo would be otook look into the flow rate of the T-28 and actually how much air is required to get it to spool to the boost you need. Then you'll want to take a flow measurement of our J32 and see when it gets enough exhaust gases out to to flow your exact flow amount for boost and also see what RPM that is at. Expect that pre-boost you'll have some serious backpressure at that point and so you want a small enough turbo to spool quickly but a turbo large enough to be efficient and keep air temps down as it flows into the intake manifold. Ask allmotor2000 about his setups. He's done this once already and is working on doing it a 2nd time now. What he'll be able to help you the most on is choosing the right turbo for your specific use.

^^^ Yeah, that was just us talking and thinking out loud-I haven't actually looked into all of the things that you mentioned, but defin. will when it comes time to go ahead with this project. I was thinking about how it would be better to do one turbo as you mentioned, but for the challange facotr, I think I like the twin set up-wouldn't be something that you would see everyday-hell, a turbo CL-S is not somehting you would see everyday!!

Thanks for the input and I will deinf. keep y'all posted as things proceed.

Well, at least it wouldn't be much different from the last meet then . If it is not raining, it is humid as heck, so it might as well rain.

A Mustang club put the show on and I lost to a Mustaing. Go figure. You guys should enter. There are always some imports, but from what Ive seen if your car is good and clean with some minor mods you can winn. Only $10.00 to enter. Its just fun bein around a lot of car people.
