I'm gonna ruffle feathers here, but I'm gonna go ahead and say it:

Zaino is way overrated. I use a high end carnuba product that's just as easy to put on and wipe off, and doesn't require a ton of coats, and truly seems to last just as long -- and it's a lot cheaper.

I love Z. It doesn't take many coats and it lasts pretty long. I've tried lots of different brands, and I keep coming back to Z. It barely takes 2 ounces to cover the whole car, so while it may cost a lot, it goes a looong way. Others that I really like are pinnacle souvern (sp?), {way more expensive than Zaino}, and meguire's gold class{nice shine, but tougher than Zaino to remove}.

What carnuba are you using Dan? I'll give it a shot.

I just called him, and he did stop selling Zaino! I had no idea.

He said he started his own line of wax, but I didn't listen to what he had to say so I hung up the phone.

Guess its off to www.zainostore.com

i've only purchased zaino once- cost me about $45 and that was back in nov 01
i JUST now ran out of the wash, and there's plenty of wax/gloss left over. its very easy to put on and lasts a long time. i'm sold.

btw, last time i waxed was november, and it still shines. i used to slap on a layer once every 6-8wks.

i didnt care to listen about his new line either.

hmm.. i'm too cheap to shell out 8.95 for shipping when i only want a bottle of Z7.

park place lexus used to have zaino in their accessories shop. one of my friends just bought an M3 and wanted zaino. i told him to go to pplex, but he says they dont sell it anymore either.

horsepower store moved from plano pkwy to allen, and then closed after a few months. go figure

They are defin. cool, but for the money, I would defin. get something else. Can we say GT2 with accesories??? Or should I just go the 4S route and customize myself?? Decisions decisions.

It's called S100. Super easy to apply and wipe off. Here's a random link to it. For some reason it's used mostly by motorcycle enthusiasts. Bob, my 325Ci friend from the track, turned me on to it after he bailed on Zaino.

Oh yeah, Bob just told me that the S100 motorcycle wax is actually just a repackaging of the more well-known P21S wax product. It sells cheaper as S100, though they're the same thing. FYI.

hey guys, gimme some rep points. I've been in R&P as a moderate liberal and even if you're not liberal, you can surely understand that I'm getting torn up on there since we've got about 09820935832525 x the number of conservatives in there... I swear it's just Zapata, 1Killer, and myself that aren't Republicans

My air conditioning went out (house, not car). Damn it has been hot. I have a guy coming out this afternoon. I hope it isn't going to cost me a fortune: I had plans to spend that money on something important like performance parts!!!

I'm cool again (some would argue "again" is a stretch)!!! I had a faulty delay switch--replaced with the service call: $84!!! I just saved what I thought would be a $2,000 compressor (worse case).

Ice baby, Ice...

Not until September--and I can't go to that one because it is my girlfriend's birthday weekend. I will be at the next few, of course.

The Drivers Edge

I am also looking for some alternative programs (maybe Porsche Club of America events). If I find a suitable one, I will post it for you!

I will also be going out to MSR a couple of times this summer if I can talk my friend with a membership into it. Of course, there are no instructors--just driving!

Sign up for the Motorsport Ranch session in September. Be warned, though, driving fast on the street or at the strip is not the same as driving fast on a road course: car weight, breaks and understeer will teach you that "safe" and "fast" are two different animals! Be prepared to drop $500 for the weekend ($275 TDE, $125 food/hotel, $100 car preparation). Also, be prepared to get addicted to this closed track thing--it beats the heck out of any twisties on an open road you have ever driven.

And Mantis, the open track at MSR on member days is driving with pass on a wave rules to keep the $100K Porsches from touching each other! Easy stuff once you get the hang of it.
