Why I absolutely love Microsoft

I suppose Core Image would be best compared to DirectX.
This is why Microsoft is making a hard push for DirectX 10 on Vista, so they can copy OSX's effects... like Expose.
I imagine this is also partly why they can't make DX10 compatible with XP. This is why so many games will now be "Vista-only" titles.
Again though, I'll leave this one to you gaming/hardware geeks.

In fact I remember seeing a demo from Nvidia a few years back that implemented Pixel shaders to accelerate photo/image editing, im not really sure why Adobe or someone else never tried to take advantage of it on windows. I'll see if I can dig up a link...

These same effects (or any custom shader programs) can be implemented in any windows application through DirectX or OpenGL. The biggest difference between CoreImage/DirectX is probably the level of OS integration (and possibly ease of coding for developers), so while WinXP doesnt use the gpu to accelerate the shell like OSX or Vista will, theres nothing stopping any application from using the gpu to do whatever a developer may want.

I don't know if the same goes for DX.
In either case, this discussions is a bit above my pay grade. I admit to being slightly ignorant to this topic.
Both Windows & OSX implement OpenGL, is this a compliment or an alternative to CoreImage/DirectX for developers?

hahah.. yeah it took about 5 hrs to install an early beta using Virtual PC, on a test machine at work that they have since taken away from me because 40 contract attorneys started and they needed it.
However, I ran into zero problems. It just took a long ass time.
I would have loved to try out those delete things myself, as well as do some more testing - I didn't even really get a chance to get my feet wet w/ it.
and oh yeah - when Davediego steps in, that's when you know you have a Grade "A" geek thread. ) And, I mean that in a good way.

Although I think this guy got the Escrow release. That has all the debug in it and is about 50% larger

What?! Dan Martin is considering a Mac?
You could always try Andrea's, Will's, or Gavin's computer to see how you like it. Andrea's already converted a few....

That's what I hear. The people my friend has converted to Apple said they can't see themselves ever going back to a PC.
I know a switch would take some getting used to, and I've never fooled around on a Mac long enough to get really move beyond the frustration of not having buttons, tabs, and menus I'm familiar with. Guess I should take more than a few minutes trying one out next time

I totally support Dan getting me one.....err....getting one.
Go for it!

Second, you're getting really annoying. Nothing to add, just alot of non-sensical sarcasm. If you're going to be an idiot, stay the fuck out and don't ever insinuate I shouldn't have created a thread in my own fucking forum. Jackass.
Third, even if it were true, it's probably because you've paired it with Winblowz...

I figured that would be your reaction.....
Actually it is a true story (happened last week).
Point is technology in general is not always perfect...

Fucking intelligent.
You just don't know when to shut the fuck up do you?
You just admitted to LYING about when your all-too-convenient story happened, so why the fuck would we believe your bitch ass about any of it?
Besides, YOU'RE ABOUT 9 pages too fucking late. The conversation has steered well beyond the original topic to which your "point" attempts to counter.
I liked you better when you were fat.
