What is a good PDA/mini-PC phone?

Hey everyone,

I am thinking about getting a PDA/mini-PC phone for when I go back to school (August) and was wondering what a good/great phone is. I read a lot of great things about the Treo650 but was wondering if there is anything on that horizon that might be worth waiting for. I want to be able to do all sorts of cool stuff with it besides using the phone, internet, and email.

I am currently a Sprint customer and overall have been pretty happy with them for the 5 years I've been with them so that is my preference. I am open to other companies and would be interested in how great the reception for any company is in Raleigh, NC. These are the sprint Phones I like so far (based on features and looks, though I haven't checked them out in person yet):

I have a Treo 650, and it's fantastic. I love having QWERTY.

Thanks bud. Yeah, QWERTY is kind of a pre-req for me too. Just makes things a lot easier because you get used to it from typing (eventhough I am not a fast typer)

It really changes everything. Combined with the pop3 access on the Treo, I can send/receive emails whenever. Makes text messaging ten times better too.

Another great little thing about the treo is that in text messages, it groups messages from one person together into a conversation, so it looks like an IM window. On all my other phones, each text message was its own seperate thing.

I've had this thing 6 weeks and I've probably used less than 5% of the features on it.

the camera is not at big a deal except it might be cool to send people pics of hoes and shit! I am more interested in having the internet, great reception, downloading songs, IMing capabilities, video streaming (on occasion), and hot syncing with my laptop.

I give the PPC-6600 a vote since i have the 02 XDA IIs (which is the same except that it's black). Please note that the PPC-6600 has a fold out keyboard and all the other goodies.

Yeah Huy, I saw that. I'm liking the Treo more and more. I'm hopin Kensteele can answer whether there is anything new on the horizon (say next three months)? At this point I will wait and get a new phone for my birthday (3 months).

How is the sprint coverage in Raleigh?

There is nothing new on the horizon for April-June. Now is the best time to get a Treo. Sprint has announced they will launch EV-DO high speed services later this year...which will definitely something to look out for.
