If this 1060 works I might sell that for a few hundred too and go with integrated graphics for a while. I'm not really itching to game. An extra grand for selling them both would be nice rn
Yeah I realize I'm having two contradicting thought processes right now. I actually canceled my order of Resolve Studio because I saw that they sold a bundle of the software plus the speed editor keyboard for $20 more. But the next day after that I decided to see how much my 2060 Super is selling for on eBay
That changed everything

Crap, there's a market for video cards? I have a "used once to test something" XFX Radeon RX 570 8GB sitting in its box right here.
What can I expect to get for it on OfferUp/Ebay?

So..... getting back in to windows after 7 years on MacOS. Still keeping my Mac (walled garden)
what essential software is needed nowadays?
I used to have malware bytes and cccleaner. Are those still relevant? What else?
don’t remember what anti virus software I had.
mostly going to be using my build for gaming. Maybe video editing with Davinci Resolve since I’ll actually have a discrete GPU to use.

Firefox with ublock originand https everywhere extension. Google Chrome is RAM hog and horrible at privacy. Firefox is great imo for browser.
7-zip for free winrar basically
Virtual clonedrive (for when I still need to download a dvd/img and install certain games....search FitGirl repacks for games....) https://www.elby.ch/download.html
LibreOffice (free microsoft office alternative...im too cheap to buy microsoft office)
Discord for chat/community servers
Steam, Origin, Battle.net, etc. (whatever your favorite gaming platform is)
I also use Black Viper as a guide for some windows 10 service config optimizations (Black Viper's Windows 10 Service Configurations | Black Viper | www.blackviper.com)
Antivirus - windows default windows defender. These days windows defender is really really good...and just be smart about your browsing and email stuff....don't click on those MILFs NEAR YOU NOW! links and you should be good. Malwarebytes is good if you want add.
CCleaner not a big deal if you're installing from fresh/building your own....windows default uninstall is pretty good.
Again...I'm no expert but that's what I use so far.
But I need to find those lonely milfs near me so I can satisfy them

thanks. I’ll keep those in mind when I get around to getting the rest of the parts and build my
machine

Some really useful Discord servers so far for me:
Reddit Build A PC discord: https://discord.gg/buildapc
Reddit Build A PC Sales discord: https://discord.gg/da7UHjPmAd
Super friendly and helpful ppl...I'm getting lot of parts decided/sourced (case, monitor, mouse, etc.)
I'm just in need of a GPU now...still hunting.
The Build a PC sales discord has a guide on how to get BB drops....apparently best buy has anti-bot mechanism and its easier for avg Joe to get stock then they do drop.
Apparently Best Buy still will stock 3080 FE's at MSRP of 699!!!!

Thanks. Yea supposedly best buy is the easiest way to get a gpu.
Supposedly they may have a drop on the 9th or possibly the 18th.
Im going to see what drops that day. while im glad i could even get the 3060, watching some reviews on the games id like to play shows it not performing that great at 1440p.
would be looking at a 3070.

Basically it could be equivalent to the 3070 for slightly cheaper MSRP (not as good RT of course).
So basically that date will likely be the correct date for another big drop.
AMD own website should be a place also to check
So I think if you don't care about RT, then it seems like AMD is pretty much about as good as NVIDIA???
At least they are slightly easier to get...
Is DLSS just for ray tracing?
Seems like it got bought by a miner
The person who bought it is selling bitcoin miners on ebay.
Maybe the news that nvidia was nerfing mining hash rates on the 3060 caused the 2060 super to be worth more to miners. So gamer wasn't going to pay $750 for a last gen GPU but a miner would since it's the best they're going to be able to get

Looks like latest Nvidia driver is nerfing ETH mining on 3070 and 3060Ti. That is really surprising to me since those cards were out before the nerfing started. It it's true, I bet that could open them up to class actions.

Yeah, totally useless.
Miners who are worth any salt who can build mining rigs are probably smart enough or know someone who is smart enough or would pay someone smart enough to bypass any nerfs. Not to mention a product like that will be seen as a challenge to the mining community and be a target to get bypassed.

Anyone got an i7-8700 Processor they need to offload?
I have a junked Aurora R7 that need an 8th gen Proc + RAM + SSD to get back up and running. Prob not even going to bother with a GPU until end of the year and perhaps demand dying down a bit so Integrated graphics it will be

Yea the video I posted in the crypto thread kind of covers this. The guy wasn't able to get the mining to work with a PCIe x1 riser. Also noticed he got a better hash-rate with a dummy HDMI plug.
