thinking about getting my parent one of these.

Amazon.com: Zotac ZBOX-CI320NANO-U-W2 nano Plus Windows 8.1 with Bing mini PC series: Computers & Accessories

Their current PC powered by a Core 2 based Celeron chip is getting near the end it's life. It's been running since 2007 and I think 8 years is long enough for something that is turned on and off each time it is used...

All they do is e-mail and that will be just fine for them.

I'm disappointed that WHS is still not available on Dreamspark. No 2012 Essentials either.

There's nothing on there that really is any use to me.

New Browser (from developers at Opera) called Vivaldi.

https://vivaldi.com/#Home

Tech preview available. Looks interesting.

One notable feature I like is the tab stacking. You can have multiple pages open in a single tab "stack", and then have others in a different stack to keep different tabs organized but still in the forefront.

Well I got my mom the Zotac 1320 Plus and I got my Dad a Dell Venu 11 Pro. I am going to bring the Studio 15 back and refurb it for All in one Media Player. It's a first gen i5 with 8GB and 500GB respectively. It will need a new battery, front bezel, and top part of the chassis.

Nicely done.

My wife is amazed at how well google's voice recognition understands weird phrases and words... Honestly, I can't remember it ever "missing" the word/phrase...

My buddy was shocked the other day that everything I was saying kept coming up correctly when he asked me to look up a few things for him

Having some trouble with Flash in Firefox.

I currently have the Flash plugin set to ask me every time to activate.

My only trouble with this is on Facebook when I want to view an embedded video. I click the video, and the new 'page' opens with the video box, but the "Activate Flash" link does nothing.

Not sure how to whitelist facebook. anyone know where Firefox stores allowed/remembered Flash decisions?

Look up in the address bar. There should be a flash icon. Click on it and choose "activate and remember".

Holy awesome video chat....

Firefox just introduced video chatting built directly into the browser.

The two HUGE differences over any other application I have used are :

1. NO software OR account needed to start or join a "conversation" and the recipient doesn't even need firefox to join in, any browser will work.

2. The audio and video quality is SUPERB, even for people on less than great internet connections.

the info page about it: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/hello/
