I don't quite get this

Another note I should have posted first:
The house is wired for ethernet such that if I plug the provided modem into the central hub, I can get ethernet in various rooms throughout the house.

Would it work for me to plug the Express into the ethernet port in our bedroom (or living room) and extend the wifi from there?

do you have ANY IDEA how far away he lives from the airport? We all told him to live in a better neighborhood and so he moved MILES away from the airport. Why would he want to run ethernet ALL THE FREAKING WAY to the airport?

I did not know they made them that large either...

A little of both. I want to work at rackspace and don't care at what capacity so I'm learning with the goal of working there in a few months. They offer classes and you get an offer at the end. It could be 1-2 months before an offer occurs but that depends on when your completion date is during the current quarter. It saves them money by hiring like this

Honestly Beez.. just study. There are a lot of virtual tools to configuring networks and such, but it really comes down to knowing your shit. Although MC, the exams are long. You can probably find the answer sheet to them but it won't help when you have to take the voucher exam.

Word, I meant just like simulators and stuff like that for practice. When I took my net+ I froze when it came to some of the sims only because I've never seen any or have had any real world experience with them. I read my net+ book cover to cover but I think some practice configuring and testing things would really help me.

The course is longer than I initially thought (ends dec 19th) so I have some time

JPMorgan Chase had a major data breach today...

I have a personal account there, so not happy...

I called to ask how to set up Two factor Authentication for my account and was told Chase does not offer this!

I have a business account at Bank of America. I asked about the Two Factor Authentication and they have and encourage it, called SafePass.

I believe I will be moving my personal account to BofA for this reason alone...

Not a bad idea at all.

I've been running 2-factor at USAA since they first offered it. Well worth the "hassle" IMO.

I use Google 2 factor for email and openvpn server. There is an app for iphone, android, bb.

Hackorz probably don't even need your PW to get your data.

Outlook SPAM question...

My email comes through Gmail and I open it in Outlook.

Let's say my email is spiders@stogie.com.

I regularly get emails sent to me FROM spidersq9s@vxc.com although the appending info to the email and the domain regularly changes.

These get moved to JUNK and are marked as UNread automatically by Outlook. I would prefer they get moved to TRASH and are marked as read.

I created a rule [with specific word in the sender's address] using spiders* as the trigger, but it does not seem to be working (I applied to the current inbox and it did not catch the email for some reason.

I also added spiders*.*.com to the blocked senders list but have not had a chance to see if this is effective yet...

Any other suggestions?

I'm surprised that any spam makes it through gmail to your Outlook. I use Thunderbird and gmail. I haven't seen a single spam get to Thunderbird in years.

Agreed, it seems like it only started within the last few weeks. Mostly stock tip subject line, etc...

I don't totally understand the interaction between outlook and gmail, as I don't see these emails in the web interface of the gmail account. only in the Outlook interface...

How is Outlook connected to Gmail? Just an IMAP configuration or the Gmail connector? Do you have all of your Gmail folders mirrored in Outlook?

Just curious.

I use Google Apps for business and there is a Sync tool that runs in the system tray (outlook add-in from google), but yes, ultimately it is an IMAP connection and all folders I create in Outlook are made as tags in Gmail.

It's a great system that give the power of gmail and the features of outlook, but I tend to nest folders in Outlook and it can be kind of a PITA to have to scroll through ALL of them to get to the end of the list on a mobile device accessing the gmail account.

within a folder called "Saved", I have a folder for each year with a subfolder for each matter I work on for clients.

Saved
-2012
--a
--b
--c
-2013
--d
--e
--f
-2014
--g
--h
--i

Getting to folder "i" is a pain on the phone on the gmail app since there is no "collapsing" of the 2012 and 2013 folders as they are only tags... That really my only complaint about the system, although there may be a better way to do it that I am overlooking...

Wow, word to the wise regarding lower end Dell pre-built systems.

I just went to install a removable drive tray (like this: http://img.dxcdn.com/productimages/sku_8099_1.jpg) drawer in an newer Inspiron 3000 and....

...I can't.

First of all, the front bezel is not modular, I will need to dremmel out the area I need. No biggie, still possible, but.....

the metal caddy inside the case that one would attach the drawer to (or a second dvd drive, media card reader, etc) is only accessible from on side. I can't install the mounting screws on the second side and they are needed for this tray. The caddy does not come out (part of the chassis) and the second side panel of the case is riveted on, not screwed on.

FFS.

Honestly.. this is an ODM oversight. Some update to mechanicals using the same gen frame and durp. I'd fucking send an angry letter to Dell and have them send you an appropriate cage. Not sure if they have a solution but worth a try. I can tell you that they make pennies on their desktops.. so you might be SOL.

haha, cheaper to buy this than build a super budget machine for an occasional user. Although now, I will probably spend an extra $50 and get a new case for it so I can actually use it how I need to.

Yeah, I may call but it is probably not even worth it...

The available bay and bezel, as provided, will accommodate ONLY a cd/dvd device, and at that, will only allow me to use mounting screws on one side of it. SMH.

Heads up before you do that, I've been down that road. Sounds like a great idea until you see how much other shit is custom. For example the cables that connect the power button, front LEDs and front usb panels to the mobo are probably custom so normal standard pins probably won't line up right. That'll be a huge PITA to deal with, and those standard USB ports almost guaranteed won't fit on the mobo. It's also not guaranteed that the power supply will fit in a normal case either. Let's just hope the mobo is in the ATX format too, probably is but wouldn't surprise me if it didn't fit either.
