Amazing piece of hardware and software. If you have the installer check out "labyrinth," game uses the accelerometers very well.

All 1.1.1 users that haven't unlocked their phones, visit http://jailbreakme.com/ and follow the instructions. No more pain in the ass ssh editors, this thing is 123 easy. Good luck.

I click on Instal AppSnap and Safari just closes and nothing happens... What am I doing wrong?

OK So I had it unlocked w/ jailbreakme.com

I don't see all that many apps... I thought there were more... I guess you have to download/install via a physical connection vs. downloading through wifi

Sorry i didnt get to your pm sooner, i was out to lunch. If you go to modmyifone.com, and check out the guide section, you will see some other community sources you can add to apptapp. Let me know if there is anything else you need. Oh, and not many people know that with the current jailbreakme, the latest verson of ibrickr will read and right files to the iphone.

Any predictions with the new firmware? Engadget seems to think it is really minor language updates. I'm waiting for something substantial (ahhem flash in safari)

The Iphone has finally arrived here in the UK.....

The Queen was quoted as saying, "Whot the bloody el is an Iphone?"

Like in the US, the phone only runs on one network (O2). Existing O2 cutomers must take the "new" Iphone plan and add 18 month of contract...Which is why my wife is not getting one (most likely going to Dublin).

Rush at stores for iPhone launch

Apple's much-hyped iPhone is prompting a rush to stores when it finally launches in the UK.

Carphone Warehouse, O2 and Apple are braced for huge queues and a surge of customers when the must-have gadget goes on sale.

The iPhone is tipped to be the biggest selling Christmas technology gift - despite some criticism of its £269 price tag.

Its mobile phone will run only on the O2 network, with owners signing an 18 month contract on tariffs of £35, £45 or £55 per month.

The 8GB device combines a touch-sensitive mobile phone handset with a built-in iPod media player and a wireless internet browser.

Die-hard fans started queuing outside Apple's flagship store on London's Regent Street on Thursday morning.

Friends Graham Gilbert and Nik Fletcher huddled under umbrellas equipped with sleeping bags, food and chairs as they began their wait.

The iPhone goes on sale simultaneously at about 1,300 Apple, O2 and Carphone Warehouse stores across the UK and via the firms' websites.

Carphone Warehouse expects Saturday to be its biggest sales day because of the Apple gadget.

Describing the iPhone's appeal as he waited in the rain on Thursday, Manchester Metropolitan University computer studies student Graham Gilbert, 22, said: "It is amazing. I just like the fact that it brings everything I carry with me into one device. I don't have to think - 'have I remembered my iPod?'"

so question to those with iphone plans...does AT&T 'work' with you on these plans (aka throw in some extras so you'll sign up) like they and other companies do with normal plans? I've heard they don't but just wanted to be sure - i'm thinking of getting one but 200 texts suck and damned if i pay $20 more just for unlimited text.

Sonny, my boy has the Iphone and I plan on getting one this week. From what I hear, they don't give any extras other than what the plan says. To me it all depends though. If you've been an AT&T customer and already have perks, I wouldn't see why they wouldn't give you some incentives especially if you're renewing the contract at the time you get the Iphone.

My question is, how does the Iphone work on T mobile's service here in Chicago? I'm planning on jailbreaking and unlocking mine the instant I get it. I just want to know how the phone works on T mobile's service and how the call quality is vs. other phones like the Motorola Q or the blackjack.

If you unlock it prepare to be locked out of all future updates. I do not think its even close to worth it, just hold another phone around for international calling.

Jailbreaking FTW

AT&T. I'm on a family plan and my dad uses his phone for business so...I don't really make a dent in it.

On second consideration, if I was committed to Tmobile I would order some foreign candybar super stylish phone with a sweet camera. I can't see Apple loosening the agreement with at&t considering how much they are making off of them.

Actually guys I managed to upgrade successfully to 1.1.2, unlocked and jailbroken of course and I couldn't be happier! My iphone seems alot faster, has better battery life and best of all is louder than before. I'm pretty active on howard forums and everythingiphone.com if you guys want to know more about that.

Either way I couldn't be happier. 5.99 Tmobile unlimited internet, and an iphone that works rock solid = a happier me! If anyone who's on TMO that wants to know how to get the 5.99 internet working with the iphone, let me know! Its EXACTLY the same as the 19.99 plan speed and feature wise...the only caviat is you can't search in the youtube app. Everything else works as it should and IMO Tmobile's internet seems faster vs the AT&T EDGE...for some reason my pages load much faster on my iphone vs my boy's 1.1.2 store bought AT&T model when using the EDGE internet...hey I can't complain for 5.99/month you get one hell of a deal

iphone firmware 1.1.3 has been leaked....you can move icons around, text multiple people at once, added google maps functions, and you can add a safari bookmark to the home screen.

I am soooo eager to hear what they are going to do with the SDK. I really want them to make it open but I know Apple would just love to control that.

Don't update to 1.1.2 until you unlock 1.1.1, then run the file on the touch (starts with up something), then run 1.1.2....

Im confused, Ive seen multiply answers to this question... Say I buy a brand new iPhone from Apple today with 1.1.2 out of the box. Is it possible to jailbreak it and run a Tmobile sim on it? Would I have to downgrade to 1.1.1 or lower? I really dont care if I have to downgrade as long as I can use the tmobile sim. Thanks

You would need to downgrade to 1.1.1

Thats fine with me. Do you have any links that would show a how to? Everywhere I look people say becuase of the bootloader you cannot unlock the 1.1.2 firmware.

Here: http://iphone.unlock.no/ shows that 1.1.2 cannot be unlock at all.

Here: http://hacktheiphoneitouch.blogspot....e-up-soon.html Shows that 1.1.2 is infact unlockable. Just trying to find some hard evidence before I hit buy

I had to download the 1.1.1 firmware, then hold down the shift button in Itunes and press restore, point to the 1.1.1 firmware and downgrade...But that's for the Touch, not Iphone.

okay, i did this the other day with a 1.1.2 firmware

the process involves downgrading to 1.0.2 and jailbreaking, then intalling a file, then upgrading to 1.1.2 and using a program to complete. almost the entire process can by managed by a program called idemocracy

this is from a howardforums post

I had 1.1.2. I tried and tried to downgrade to 1.1.1. I finally downloaded the 1.0.2 restore file. Restored to 1.0.2 through iTunes. Used app.tapp button in iDemocracy to get an activation screen. Went back into iTunes to activate. Then ran the app.tapp again to get installer on the 1.0.2 phone. Installed OktoPrep through installer (only that). Then upgraded to 1.1.2 again through iTunes. Then, finally, went back into iDemocracy and hit the 'Jailbreak 1.1.2' button...and presto...a jailbroken 1.1.2 iphone.

not sure.. i think it might have been 1.1.1 out of the box? it was a friend's. i'm not aware of any of the current iphones bricking if your jailbreak them. you run a risk if you unlock it.

Yeah! Double slap Whiskers! Was your phone unlocked too or not? Let me know if you need some help. I was in your shoes the first time I upped my OS from 111 to 112 without the oktoprep following some joeshmoe guide...

I had to go through a couple extra steps but everything's gravy now. I'm on 112, unlocked and jailbroken happily using T mobile with no problems and couldn't be happier. Hell I'm even on the 5.99 unlimited internet and am loving it since everything's working as if I had the 19.99 internet

AT&T officially sux IMO. What you can do is get a 112 version Iphone (regular one in stores as of right now) and do a jailbreak on it so you don't have to go through itunes to activate. Just pop your regular AT&T sim card in and you're in business. Iphone +discount=good times and a big middle finger to the white globe with blue lines in it (which I think is a lame logo)

As you can see I'm a bitter former AT&T wireless customer lol...wayy before the iphone was conceptualized
