ok so weird thing happened. I was on the phone complaining about the features not being on my phone that other people had on their iphones, and they just appeared out of nowhere. but they were not there before.

After finding out the ipod kits in bimmers work with the iphone (tried in a co-workers 330.) I then read the pioneer cd-ib100II is supposed to work as well.

Like with the bimmer when you plug in it says the accessory isnt compatible and asks if you want to put the phone in airplane mode. Say No, listen to your music and control the tracks via stereo.

So, I have a pioneer head unit in my truck. I have been sitting on gift cards from best buy since christmas. I decided to go get one of these to plug in to my headunit. I have everything sitting in my living right now, I just need to splice in to the power and ground and put it all back in, very simple actually.

I'm stoked

I also found a great case. I don't really want the phone in a case during normal use. But I did want a pouch of some sort for when I have to put the phone in my gym bag or messagener bag. My messenger bag is a Timbuk2 and I just bought there accessory/ipod case. It fits perfect and it has a slit for a dock connection. So, I can use that with the car kit now, too

Thumbs down Fuggin' AT&T

Love the phone, but the service seems rather inconsistent when compared to Verizon. I can't even get a signal at my desk, and I'm 10 feet away from floor to ceiling glass overlooking Grant Park, downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan. No issues with Verizon.

Sucks.

Scrib,

I'm having the same issues having switched from Verizon for a BB 8800. Go ahead and call AT&T, the'll tell you to remove the battery and the've updated the phone.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! haahaahah... @ the duggmirror link.

btw I finally played with an iphone yesterday. Its a nice piece of equipment. The screen is really nice. but I did find the keyboard hard to type on, I felt it was a bit too slippery (and no im not putting a retarded rubber case over it - mainly because of the potential to ruin the finish over time). Its a bit heavier than I thought - that, combined with its slipperiness, and yeah I would want to have some kind of insurance on it, for sure. I'm not a clumsy person but dang, this thing is slippery. Overall I felt the phone operated too "dumbed down" for my taste. Its like, everything was almost TOO logical. I'm not a chimpanzee, I can figure things out. I would even say I LIKE figuring things out. I dont like my technology served to me on a silver platter. Yeah Im a geek - this is not a geek's phone. ok I think thats enough for now. har har

it's suuposed to be an easy device to pick up and use. The iPhone is not a smart phone, it's a phone with mulimedia functions. People have to take it for what it is and stop comparing it to other devices. Of course a windows mobile device will blow the iPhone away with its ability. But you have to look at what the iPhone is advertised to do, and that's bring you the web, music and movies together into one easy to use and smooth ass operating system. I love my pocket pc to death, but the iPhone is much more of a pleasure to use.

I guess the phone isn't for everyone, but what would you want this to do that it doesn't (things that a normal smartphone can do, and that you actually use)?

btw im sure that you could find some service to insure it if you so desired. and you get used to a keyboard. how quickly could you type when you used a blackberry for the first time?

if you call a phone number off the internet, and it instead calls a 1900 number...you'll see the number on your phone before it actually connects.

Today someone released a successful execution of a "hello world" program on the iphone, not through safari.

If you look at the bottom of the phone, there are two speaker - looking holes/vents. Are both of these actually speakers? I noticed on mine that only the LEFT one outputs sounds....the other does not...I checked this by playing music some music without headphones and covering up only the left "speaker"....the sound becomes completely muffled.

I'm trying to figure out if the right one is just a mic, or if the right one is a speaker and mine is broken...can anyone do me a favor and check? Should just take a min....thanks.

The $3,000 iPhone Bill

Where's the $70 international plan Blackberry users get?

01:38PM Tuesday Jul 31 2007 by Karl

AT&T has a $70 plan for BlackBerry customers that offers unlimited data throughout the world, but iPhone customers get no such plan. They're instead charged by the KB when they wander internationally, which adds up quickly if you're traveling abroad and not paying attention. A user writes to Boing Boing to note he suddenly found himself with a $3,000 data bill:

"Billing phone reps offered me a $400 'courtesy credit' on the $3000 charge if I would agree to sign up for a $300 per year international data plan with a max of 20MB per month. (I'm not planning any international travel for a while anyway, but 20MB would be burned in a day or two of average use - they must be kidding.) I have until August 14th to resolve this or all my family's phones (including my wife's business line) get disconnected. Obviously, there's no way I can pay $3000 for something so egregiously wrong."

He wants the same $70 usage plan Blackberry users get to be offered to everyone and applied retroactively to his mammoth bill.

anything else? shit, if i'm abroad, i'll just keep my phone off until I need it. Or keep it in airplane mode and just use the ipod part.

Is this true? Do they not realize that 20MB per month on a high-b/w phone is NOTHING??

That's pretty weak. You'd think AT&T would also man up and help out more than they did for that individual.
