I’m upgrading from my 12PM strictly for the 120hz and better cameras.
Trading this phone in to offset the cost.
Also decided im going to upgrade a little more frequently. My last upgrade 7Plus to 12PM was a little too long.
if youre willing to wait, the 15 should be a good one to wait for since it’s likely that’s when they will finally switch to USBC since the EU is forcing them.
I might wait then for USB-C. Since I don't have 120HZ now, I don't really miss it yet.
AT&T did offer me $800 for my phone I paid $700 for back in 2019. Of course they require you go on a 36 month installment plan.
coming from a 13PM, the 14PM is worth it for the screen alone. i can have the brightness at less than 100% and read it in the bright sun. heck after 5mins outside on a hot and bright day, the AOD display in 'off' mode is brighter than my 13PM at full brightness!

iOS 16 is available. Apple also released iOS 15.7.

so was forced to upgrade to iOS 16.0.2 since the AW Ultra requires iOS 16.
And man so many minor issues.
For some reason my AirPods Pro unpaired so I had to pair it again.
most annoying one was the mail app, for some reason it stopped showing the unread mail count badges. No option was available in the notifications section.
i tried the Offload App feature, restarted my iPhone and then reinstalled the app. No dice.
ended up completely deleting the app including data restarted my phone and then installed the mail app. That fixed it. No need to enter in the mail account information just need to reenable mail.
also I really HATE notifications coming in from the bottom
Interesting thing I saw noted, for the iPhone 14 Pro, when capturing images in Apple ProRAW, it only captures in 10-bit color versus 12-bit for the iPhone 12 and 13.
10-bit is only 1.07 billion colors vs 68.7 billion for 12-bit.
probably won’t make that much of a difference except for maybe some landscape shots where you’ll see some banding.
I checked and my 12PM says 12-bit. I should get my 14PM today and will check.
Ordered on 9/11/2022 with an expected delivery range of Oct 18-25
My order shipped on 9/29 with a delivery date of 10/7.
UPS attempted delivery on 10/6 but no one was home and it required a signature so they left a door tag saying they'd come the next day.
UPS attempted delivery on 10/7 but the driver said he wasn't able to locate the package in his truck and said it might be lost.
UPS notified me they would try to deliver on 10/10, but nobody showed up.
Figured I'd give them today since yesterday was technically a holiday, but no, no activity on the tracking since 10/7.
So just now used Apples dumb web chat and was able to get them to send out a replacement. Who knows how long that will take.
Edit: Just now got an email that says "Arrives Nov 3 - Nov 10" and also sent me a label to to return the missing order

Definitely stolen. Tracking doesn’t have an estimated delivery and just says “processing at UPS facility” same as the tracking for the first one Apple sent me.
I may just cancel this order, I’m not superstitious but 14 is supposedly an unlucky number for Asians

so reached out to Apple on the 19th. They told me to wait 24 hours. Contacted them on the 20th and they said ohh you’ll need to wait since technically the 20th is the delivery date.
so today Oct 24th I contacted them and they gave me some lame excuse like “ohh there was a weather delay, please wait a little longer”
I ended up just asked for a refund. I think at this point I’ll wait for the 15.

Man how annoying this experience has been. So to follow up with this, i was refunded the initial purchase on 10/27, but then on 10/28 i was charged $530 because my trade-in was cancelled.
I was out traveling and out of the country so I reached out to Apple on Friday 11/11 to have them reverse the trade-in value charge. They said they would escalate it to someone higher up and would email me confirmation and someone would reach out to me in 24 hours. This never happened.
So this morning I received an email from Apple regarding the escalation to call them. So i called in, and in the notes they told me I need to work with my credit card to find out the status of the refund which they claim they issued. But I used my Apple Card for the purchase, so they transferred me over to Apple Card/Goldman Sachs. They saw that I was refunded the order to which i explained i was charged for the trade in i was supposed to do, but because the whole order was cancelled i shouldnt have been charged for it. They ended up asking if i wanted to dispute the charge which I decided to go froward with.
Now i have the provisional credit and said it could take 2 billing cycles or no more than 90 days to be resolved.
Just got the extension for macOS Safari. I just picked up an LG 42" OLED TV to use as a monitor. Needed to switch to dark mode so it doesn't feel like I'm being hit by a flash bang on every page load.

Any news on the USB-C iPhone? I'm heavily considering switching to Apple from my long time Android use but want to do it with the USB-C plug so I can use all my current cords/cables.
butt in typical Apple the rumors are saying that base iPhones will have a USBC port but remain with 2.0 speed.
The Pro models will be the one to support 3.0/3.2 speeds. Not sure if 10gbps or 5gbps. Either way faster than the 480mbps of 2.0
Apple does supposedly have until 2024 to make the changes so it’s also possible this years iPhone won’t make the switch.
Just picked up a 14 pro max over the weekend and absolutely loving it !! The purple. So beautiful.
regading above post, you gotta get a case of some kind for it that protects the lenses. I think most of them are made that way. I like the well known brands like Spigen or Otterbox etc.

The decision point on the phone is color. And only 14 Pro is deep purple.
The iPhone hasn't layed flat since the iPhone 6 which came out in 2014, every iPhone has had some hump since then. All competitive Android phones have one as well

This used to bother me, then I realized that it lifts the lenses off the surface and protects them from scratches. No longer a problem unless I'm trying to balance it on it's back side for whatever reason.
In all honesty, the camera in the Pro is worth the upgrade even if you don't take pictures that often.
