PS

1) Apple TV 6.0 update is fixed and back up.

2) People (like me) who bought season 5 of Breaking Bad...can thank that dude that decided to file a lawsuit against the itunes store (but really it's AMC's fault) because Apple has given all of us $22.99 in credit to purchase The Final Season if we want...or anything else.

Sarlacc,

Where did you find the availability checker? I can't seem to find it.

Now I'm having 2nd thoughts on updating my wife's 4s. Its one thing for me to have problems with a phone and fixing it, its another for the wife to be nagging me to fix her phone.

What's lagging exactly? Camera, facebook?

I understand, but you're also comparing an OS that now has the ability to execute processes while the app is running in the background, which iOS6 could not. meaning more overall usage of the battery, especially when more and more app developers begin integrating that functionality into their apps.

Mine is a bit laggy with certain apps, but overall, I can get by with it. Especially if it means I don't need to shell out a couple hundred bucks on a new phone. I think my phone is as old as yours, minus the newer battery.

apple store site...act as if you are buying the phone and in the right side bar it will say "check availability"

But sadly...this morning it seem they wont allow it on the 5s...worked fine last night.

Facebook is fine on my iPhone4. Camera is SO fast now compared to iOS6. I remember before I would start the camera and have to wait 5-10 seconds for the damn thing to let me take a picture, and many times after clicking the shutter release it would lag taking the picture. Now the app opens really fast and pictures are taken immediately when I press the shutter release.

And even that isn't a fault of iOS7, it could just be that the app was poorly written or not fully optimized from the beginning. I see it all the time at my work when developers bring their iOS apps to me to get published internally and to the App Store. And remember, when the SDK changes, code gets deprecated and developers have to update their app to work efficiently with the OS.

think it also depends on the phone.

you say your camera is faster...my experience is my camera is as slow as it was with iOS6.

That's unfortunate. I was certain they had improved it and fixed the issue. Have you tried clearing your camera roll and moving those pictures elsewhere. I've heard that helps.

What are your plans for the old phone? Toy for the kiddos or selling it? Amazon's buy back rates have been pretty good in the past, just an FYI.

I have to look at Amazon...I was debating about Apples program...

Or, if I want to deal with the pain of it...I can unlock the phone from apple since its out of contract and try and get a little more...again..IF I want to deal with it.

Problem with my phone is there is a tiny scratch on the bottom of the screen, barely noticeable, but its there.

Could be like me, I had AT&T unlock mine so I could use it when I travel..

Will do the same when my contract for my 5 is up and move the 4 to my apple museum and shrine

^^^ I thought they stopped doing that....

I had called them AFTER 18 odd months of getting the phone and they said "they cant do it on Apple products, any other phone and we will unlock it for you'....

so not sure if it was because of the apple product or 18 months deal (since contract is 24 months)....

This has been the way I upgraded in the past. Now that the 5s is out and my phone is over 3 years old, wondering if I should upgrade now, or wait for the 6. I'm also out of contract so waiting for the 6 is more appealing to me, especially if Ting gets the iPhone.
