Apple: iPhone News and Discussion Thread
Since Apple is taking forever with iOS5 I decided to jb my 3GS. I opted to stick with 4.3.3 instead of the 5.0 beta because there's no untethered version yet and I can't don't take my laptop to work nor can I install itunes here.
Haven't had time to figure out the SMS tones hack but I did get Winterboard and changed the theme and got a couple of Cydia ringtones even though I already knew how to make ringtones. I found some SMS tones but they would only save to my ringtones. I did install SSH but I don't see an app for it. I also got SBSettings. So any ideas, recommendations, etc are welcome.

iPhone 5 will launch in fall along with iOS 5. they won't ship iPhone 5 with iOS 4. They've already said iOS 5 in fall so that's when iPhone 5 will come, no sooner than that. Any rumor that it will come earlier is bullshit.
I think somewhere along the way it was blamed by the Japanese earthquakes. But engadget is saying more that one of the Chinese vendors couldn't provide something quickly due to the size of the new phone. They did mention how it was always July for a new phone launch so they had this big article gathering up some rumors. I think Fall like said above is the date unless they bump up iOS5 which is on its 2nd beta. The bigger question is when will they announce it. Will they combine the typical iPod September announcement with the iPhone one or do a separate presentation. They need to have a boys night out so someone can leave their 4s/5 on the can.
I got a white 4 because my 3GS took a crap. Wasn't planning on jbing it since it was sort Of a pain last time. But then I read jailbreakme.com was back up for 4.3.3. Literally took the minute to install the Cydia app. It even remembered settings with some of the apps on different phones. But if u want this don't get the latest apple update of 4.3.4. Like last time it closes the ability to jb so easily.
I think Winterboard is the most popular tool. Is that an alternative to Glaskart? I've never heard of Glaskart. I also heard something called Dreamboard came up. As for the themes themselves I didn't like that most of the themes changed your wallpaper for you so I changed out some icons instead and other small things. If you go to macrumors.com into the iPhone Hacks forum there's a thread with tons of themes.
I definitely would get the expose type multi tasking.
As much as I like SBS settings, I wish there was a better way to toggle it. Not a fan of swiping across the status bar. Especially when iOS 5 comes out.

You do know that you can change how to toggle it right? Go to sbs settings click on more then go to activation methods. You can pretty much set it to whatever you want. Sounds like you currently have it set on status bar.
Wife's new iPhone was stolen today
She hadn't set up Find my iPhone yet....
Since it was still fairly new, I'm hoping to hell AT&T lets me get another subsidized and just start the 2 years over again.

She DID have find my iPhone set up...but she didn't realize that it was mobile me, and she didn't think she had a mobile me account!
I only found this out because I said screw it and used my early upgrade to get her another one. And while I was setting it up...I came across everything as I restored her phone from a back up.
Needless to say I was annoyed to shit...but she understands it nows and how it works...and I have her account on my phone if I ever need to switch over and use the app.
Fuck this was annoying and frustrating.

The home button will, randomly do one or all of the following:
- pressing it does nothing
- pressing it in a certain quadrant achieves the desired result
- pressing it multiple times will achieve the desired result
- pressing it multiple times when intending to access MT does nothing, or simply acts as a single button press
Voice Control is unaffected in all aspects. Inconclusive as to whether it's software or hardware.

On the first iPhone 4 I bought it got to the point where I would hit the home button 7 times before it would do anything.
Took it to the genius bar and got a new one...i know two other people that happened to...seems like a common issue, for at least the first batch of 4's.
Had no issues so far with the one I have now.
