Apple: iPhone News and Discussion Thread

iPhone 5 Cases Are 'Everywhere' in China

MICGadget reports that the early iPhone 5 cases are "now everywhere" in China. The site has posted another gallery of these case designs, which show a mute switch on the opposite side of the device.
The design is also said to be slightly larger than the existing iPhone 4 and has a slight tapering from top to bottom in thickness. This particular design was originally reported by ThisIsMyNext back in April. At the time, we had expressed doubts about it due to our own tipster about the validity of the design. But now, with the influx of these case designs, we have to reconsider.
It's clear that some Chinese case manufacturers are confident enough in these designs that they are starting to mass produce these cases. As we've said before, there is a massive financial incentive for companies to have case designs for new Apple products ready on launch day. In fact, three people were sentenced to prison in China for leaking details of the iPad 2 case design prior to its launch.
As frequent as these case leaks are, it's notable that they have been remarkably accurate in the past. The iPad 2 cases, of course, were quite accurate. iPhone 3G cases were real, as were 6th Generation iPod Nanos, and 5th Generation iPad Nanos. Not all case leaks turn into actual products, however. The iPhone Nano never came to be, and the iPod Touch with Camera cases were legitimate but the product was canceled/delayed.
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 5 in September of this year.

Some of you may have seen the article on Engadget, but Target (via Radio Shack) lowered the price of the 4 16GB to $149, and the 3GS 8GB to $19.99. Bought one of the latter for my wife tonight to replace her busted 3G.
Alongside the iCloud.com launch, Apple has revealed the pricing for additional storage on the iCloud service.

aaaaaaaand it's fuckin broken! I logged in once and did the initial setup then clicked on Find my iPhone and when I tried to log back into iCloud it keeps saying my password is incorrect. It's not, I tested it on my iPad and it works fine.
Actually now it's saying that my appleID isn't a developer account and therefore I can't access the site. Must've been a bug that allowed me to access it before because now it's blocked.
Ugh, I think I need to restore my phone. It's been running very sluggish lately... I've closed all apps opened too, and restarted numerous times
I kind of don't want to restore since I'm on iOS 4.3.3

i like the design of the rumored mock up 5...
i'll be getting one in white, and hoping they do the silver back so i can put a front screen protector and call it a day... dont want to have a case on this one.

My iPhone can't connect to my wifi network...
And now after forgetting the network it keeps on saying the password is wrong
My pc connects fine with the same password...
Having so many small issues pop up on my phone.
Guess I should update it. Although was contemplating on jailbreaking it....

That's how it begins...
I try to reboot my phone at least several times a week. My previous 2 iPhones (OG and 3GS) started having little knick knack issues before they finally gave up the ghost.
Both of my friends' iPhone 4s consistently get the same or better Wi-Fi signal but they usually have less reception and sometimes only get Edge when I'm securely connected to 3G. It's kinda confusing.

So my girlfriend shattered her 3GS glass a few weeks ago and I finally decided to replace it today. Got her a white housing with a new digitizer and replaced her battery as well since she can barely get 6 hours of usage on her phone.
Luckily, her LCD wasn't cracked with the damage she incurred on that phone. This is why I'm kinda scared of her getting an iPhone 4 cause she drops her phone a lot.
Actually surprised her phone lasted as long as it did before she cracked it as bad as she did.

After:

It was pretty straightforward all around but I wish it came with more epoxy as I had to reuse some of the old stuff. Oh well, this is just an interim until she can save up for the next one. I have to say though, the 3GS in all white looks

the speck case i had for my 3G S survived numerous drops from various heights.
only cause the rubber edge sits a bit higher than the glass, providing some drop protection.

She's always had a case on her phone. (Girls and their accessories) The glass just probably got weaker as she kept dropping it. Personally, I stopped using a case on my phone cause it just feels and looks much better without one. But I'm much gentler on my devices.
yea ive kept my bumper on my 4 since i got it, and one time when i took it off i just stared at it and kept thinking "damn this thing looks nice, why do i keep this stupid bumper on it?" and then i tapped my phone on the edge of a table
although i need a new case, my bumper is falling apart from being taken off and on because only the plug from an Apple 30-pin usb cable will fit in it because the hole in the case is too tight for anything else.

2 iPhone Home Button Fixes:
1.) Open any application
2.) Press and hold the power button until the slide to shutdown swipe bar appears.
3.) Release Power button
4.) Press and hold Home button Lightly
until screen returns to icon screen
5.) Enjoy your functioning home button!!!
This procedure recalibrates the home button after normal wear or heavy use.
For some, the above works ... or the following:
1. Turn your "passcode on" with any combination.
2. Open any application.(your homescreen button is not working, but power button would help).
3. Press the power button and slide to unlock.
4. Before entering your combination/lock code, press "emergency call" and then click "back".
5. Now enter your combination code.
6. BINGO!!! There's your homescreen.
so, having the worst day ever today.. got home from work, as I get out of my car, drop my iPhone 3GS on the curb. screen completely cracked. Sure, I was disappointed, but we had a good run and I`ve been thinking about upgrading for a while. So i go pick up a white 16GB iPhone4. get home, restore it with my previous iPhone`s settings.. everything seems fine. go outside to the pool for a bit, come back and realize my phone's off. turn it back on, install facebook/echofon, phone turns off again. It's been doing this every 5-10 minutes all day, regardless of if the phone is in use or in standby. Everytime it turns back on, I lose my previously downloaded apps. Getting very frustrated and just wanted to see if anyone here has any reccomendations. Tried restoring to no avail. Worst case scenario I'll take it back to my provider and swap for a new one. any ideas would be appreciated!
That's the route I'm going to take. just wanted to see if I could make it a little more bearable, as I'll be busy tomorrow with a football tournament, and may or may not have time on Monday. Guess I'll just have to suck it up for a couple days.. thanks!
