Apple: iPad News and Discussion Thread
I process full NEF images on my iPad, and when traveling it comes in handy, I don't have laptop. I have been deleting (juggling) apps, games, movies and books like crazy. Right I have a 4gb buffer, right now. I need more space at 32GB.
Now, coming from a non-user, I do find it interesting you would do photo edits with a tablet. It would seem rather difficult to me but, I'm no expert at working with photos.
But, if you were NOT a photographer, you wouldn't need that much storage, right?
Ah. Yeah, if I were to get a tablet, I would not really be able to justify anything more than 32. And even then, that is likely more than I will ever need.

There are reasons and uses for higher storage.
Games, books, music and movies, it's all media. I got my son a 32gb one. He was maxing out at 16gb with his touch. Plus the Apps made for the iPad only, are much bigger in size. And if Apple bumps up the resolution and the iPad's camera, seems it would be a least double the file size.
But, from a general public (i.e. casual user's) perspective, that much storage is not needed for a tablet, correct?
And no...I'm not leading this anywhere to some hate thing. Just curious with the tablet crowd on their thoughts of storage needs for this sort of device.
I have my entire music library, and a substantial amount of photos on there. Add all the apps, a couple seasons of various tv shows, some videos, a dozen books, a year's worth of car and driver, and the occasional movie rental or two, and I'm either right at or exceeding the actual capacity (which is around 59gb). I would buy a higher capacity model if one was available.
32GB is fine for me. I have all my media on my home server (1.1TB and counting) that I can stream to my ipad using the file browser app. I can copy a movie to my ipad from my server if I need to take it with me.
So you don't store media on your iPad because you stream. But then don't watch it because you're away from home?
So buying one with small storage because you stream at home and not away, is the reason to buy one with more storage. You have it with you and don't need to worry about even being able to get a signal.

So rentals download to the device ahead of time and don't stream? What I want to know is can I rent a movie in iTunes and then watch on the iPad when it doesn't have wifi access?
Thinking that might be a pic of the device. Looks like higher resolution there?
Also if that is the bottom of the device, no more home button?
With multitasking gestures, it's not really needed anymore. IMO..

Apple should have bought them instead of HP.
Not quite the same, but works great IMO.
4 finger pinch to go home.
4 fingers up to bring up multitasking bar.
4 finger swipe left or right to switch between active apps. (which I find WAY better than webOS where you have to goto card view first)

or it could be on portrait mode....
I sold my ipad with perfect timing! I wonder what this is going to do for resale value on ipad 2s, y'all better sell yours right quick before it's too late. Do a 3 day auction on ebay

I think you mean landscape, if it was in portrait orientation then there definitely isn't a home button...

there's usually wifi wherever I go or I just whip out MyWi on my iPhone. I don't watch streaming movies or what not outside of home in public places.
