Apple: iPad News and Discussion Thread
I work long hours, and spend lots of time in front of a computer at work. When i get home, i wash up, eat dinner and spend time with my kids. Once the wife and I get them to bed, we make sweet sweet love, shower, and relax. At the end of all that, the last thing i want to do is sit at another desk to consume some media. With the Ipad, i get to lay in bed, next to my lovely wife. While she watches TV, i browse the net, play a game, watch a movie, etc..... I don't know why you'd question that.

I don't quite get it. But, it's your money and hey, do whatever makes you happy.

Yumchah, you don't have kids, you may not be able to relate.

Again, I'd head over to a nearby computer store and try out the new Vaio Z. The specs are just damn impressive...and at that price, why not. SSD, i7, 13.1"...up to 10 hours of battery life. Optical drive included...and oh, it's 3 pounds.

The big HP Palm announcement was today! Pretty interesting stuff, I've always liked WebOS and it's good to see HP doesn't seem to be screwing it up!
There's a 4 min video demo in the link below!

I like the notification area, resizable keyboard and that the default keyboard view has a number row! Genius!:
Also the HP devices have a feature that's similar to the bump app where if you touch to HP devices (the palm name is dead) together then you can transfer things between devices like bump or the chrome to phone google chrome extension. See demo below:

These devices have good specs too unlike previous Palm devices! 9.7in screen with 1.2GHz dual core Snapdragon and 1Gb RAM.
Here's a spec comparison based on what we officially now so far

The palm pad should be out in the summer and they haven't announced pricing yet, probably are waiting to see what others do first.

My understanding is the 'gesture area' has been removed, instead the entire surface can act as a gesture area. And on the Palm Pre, you DO swipe left/right and up on the screen itself anyway, so it's not a big learning curve for current Palm owners.
I say just argue the technical merits in the respective threads.
