With the price reductions, iPad mini 2 can now be had for

16GB : $299 - 20% = $239
32GB : $349 - 20% = $279

and iPad Air for

16GB : $399 - 20% = $319
32GB : $449 - 20% = $359

at Staples this week since they're offering 20% off all iPads. They'll probably need to do a price match to Apple if they haven't updated their system with the new prices yet.

According to comparison Apple - iPad - Compare iPad models.

yeah, $100 more for touch ID. Not seeing anything else that's different.

I'd rather just buy a iPad mini 2 for

16GB : $299 - 20% = $239
32GB : $349 - 20% = $279

Notice that the new ipad doesn't have the mute/orientation lock switch...

Oh and Apple is back to putting numbers on their iPads now

I wonder why iPad mini 3 didn't get A8X proc, barometer, and/or 8MP camera.

You can tell when Tim Cook is phoning in a "by the numbers" keynote after the iPhone 6 reveal. He was really excited about the phones and the watch.

Today...he has been like every other keynote where they knew nothing super exciting was going to happy.

The 5k iMac is big news...but not that big.

Im pretty disappointed with it all mostly. I don't want an Air 2, the mini upgrade is stupid. No need for an Imac with 5K, Yosemite is still not up and I have 8.1 already on.

Mini 2 is a good deal since 3 doesn't offer much more?

For the new stuff, why is 16MB still the base and no 32MB offered?

Mini 2 is a good deal and Apple seems to be on a kick to make a entry level device (ipads iPhones Mac mini and iMac)

Interesting. The iPad air 2 A8X chip is a triple core chip

55% faster than iPhone 6 and 68% faster than iPad Air 1

Only a matter of time before Apple switches their macs to an ARM processor. These things are as fast as a 2011 Macbook

Some of the 5th gen Core CPUs are fanless, shit is getting crazy. Haswell was a big jump, Broadwell (14nm) even bigger, in two years MBAs will be fanless if not next year.

Intel still has a head start on the industry getting to smaller and smaller processes. What's after 14nm, 10? 9? something ridiculous, everyone else is still in the 20s Intel is like 18 months ahead of everyone else.

macbook won't be arm any time soon. That would kill windows compatibility. Wouldn't be able to run VMs of windows/linux etc.

i would not be surprised to see OS X and iOS converge at some point. Yosemite is pretty close as it is trying hard to play nice with iOS. I like that my mac rings when my iphone does.

After Windows 8, I don't see why any company would be in a hurry to merge the operating systems of their handhelds/tablets and laptops/desktops.

Keep the OS/UI optimized for the device, and make the experience cohesive from device to device through unified design and cloud sharing/replication.

Good God.

So in short, the main area the i6 falls (physics - lack of cores) the A8X makes up for with the extra core.

The should have kept the bezel dimensions the same as the last model to allow space for a bigger battery.

I'm glad my iPad 3 still works for me, but the geek in me wants power for the sake of power.

Yea our iPad 2 still DOES everything I want it to do. Still holds a good charge too. But it is certainly starting to feel slow.

I'm not sure about the Pro. I don't know if I'd want to hold a ~13 inch devices this way. And I have no need for a convertible.

Bestbuy will give me a $200 trade in towards the new Air. Hmmm.
