So? When the iPad 3 or 4 came with Retina, it didn't increase the price did it? Same with the iPhone. Maybe $20 more expensive, but $79 is too much.

Surprised original iPad mini didn't drop more than $30 though. $249 would have been nice. Will probably be $249 on black friday.

They want to go back to their typical Apple profit margins. The original mini was sold at a much lower price and had a smaller profit margin than other Apple devices. The extra $80 probably brings it back in line with other iPad profit margins.
