I just think they are highly focused on those that don't care or don't know about computing. There is a large market for that now and those people will buy Apple productions, but I think that market gets smaller by the day.

You gotta understand how fanboyism works especially since its an Apple site. No amount of reasoning will ever change their minds even if the tablet cured cancer they would say the interface will look unpolished and amateurish. iOS has been left behind in functionality and features since Froyo and has started to play catch up since. Yet, these fanboys only listen to what Steve tells them they need without giving them their own choice to do so, like Flash, custom ringtones/sms notifications without jailbreaking, and the list goes on. I don't want this to get into an Apple vs. Android. I really do think that both can coexist (and I hope they do because it'll drive the competition further). However, I do think Apple will have to change its once a year phone release if they don't want to get left behind in the future which is probably what they'll do because the mobile competition is always changing.
the Apple core is feeling like the "new" Sony walk man... remember when Sony ruled, but got boring... now I think Apple is getting the same way... the problem is that Apple is trying so hard to hold on so tight that it is slipping thru their fingers... and they know it... I love how smooth the Apple OS is, but I get bored with it pretty qwik too...I really think once HC is done, it will be smooth and have enough variety to keep the masses from running off somewhere else... then there is ICS for the phones...

I've own an iPhone for 1.5 years. After owning an Android for 2 months, I can already tell that, TO ME, the Android OS blows the iOS out of the water. I can't post this in the Apple thread of course because I'll have fifty narrow minded people bashing me.
There's just so much I can do with the Android. The only thing the Android lack are games and number in apps. My daughter just go an iPod 4G. Same spec as the iPhone 4. I'll tell you, I was definitely not impressed with it right next to my Android. The functionality and the customization is ridiculous on the Android.
I think when Jobs created the iPhone, he wanted simplicity. It's what all American wants, fast and easy. It's the American way. And thus the reason for one button and very little setting controls.

That's probably still Froyo with Gingerbread Theme running ADWLauncher EX. Its one of the custom home launchers with transition effects when you swipe left and right. LauncherPro recently copied the effect as well.

I think it looks pretty cool and it looks pretty responsive. The phone used above is a MT3G. Reading the thread on XDA, there's still a few bugs but its getting there.

I started it and was staring at a black screen wondering if it was going to load at all, then I realized I had to add the tiles

Seems pretty snappy though. Ill try it out for a few days.
Yup. No root required.
Any home replacement launcher. ADWLauncher, GoLauncher, LauncherPro, PandaHome etc. They all have their different tweaks. Even that MetroUI I just posted.
Oh and if you happen to make the Launcher your default home and want to revert you can do so by:
Homescreen --> Menu --> Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications --> Scroll down to that home launcher --> Clear defaults. Then press home again.
You can also install an app that automates the process above called Home Switcher:

Install it from here: http://market.android.com/details?id....go.launcherex or from your market on your phone, search for "Go Launcher EX"
Once its installed, you press the home button. It will give you a dialog of which home you want to launch. Stock HTC Sense Launcher or Go Launcher. Hit Go Launcher. It will look like a Vanilla Android but with a lot of features like Widget resizing, grid resizing (instead of just 4x4), screen transition effects and many other things. You can do this with the many other Home replacement launchers out there.
Jesus christ. Did you guy seeing the Atrix pricing? $200 for the phone. If you want the dummy laptop, at the time you buy the phone $300 more so $500 total. But then if you want it later you have to buy it for $500 so that's $700. They also have some multimedia thing for the TV (I guess different from using the HDMI?) for like $185. Plus you have to get the tethering plan for $20/month. HOLY ANAL RAPE BATMAN!!!

Not to mention, this is is a revolutionary device and the market will be high for it at release.
yeah but the tethering add on is a rip off. And regular laptops go as low as $300. Just buy the phone and whatever laptop you want. I can transfer everything anyway like every other Android phone to PC. Nice features but you pay to play.
Laptop = $300+
Total = $500+
Phone+Doc = $500
Edit: Plus don't forget whatever mobile internet you're going to need for the laptop, i.e. - a wireless card.

Internet on the laptop? Probably 90% of laptop users use their home internet anyways or Starbucks. If you're in the niche of having to travel most hotels have free wifi. Why do you need a wireless card? Even our Metrorail has free Wifi and we're not a public transporation city. Transfer your project via USB to your phone and email through 3G/4G. Regardless those that have to do that are in the minority. For me personally it's a ripoff.
Yeah the Atrix dock pricing is disappointing. I guess they're really marketing it to companies for now. Hopefully it'll drop a few months after launch. Maybe AT&T had something to do with the crappy pricing considering that they make you get the tethering plan to get the discount.
Here's a 15 sec clip of the Xoom commercial for superbowl:

Woohoo! I'm back!
Loaded it up with Enomther's ROM and CWM recovery (lesson learned).

Went with a minimalist look for my home screen since it's so fun to switch screens with ADW's random transitions.

Ya, it's definitely a change. In my previous setup, I had everything on the home screeen and almost never went to the side screens. I figured I would try to get some use out of the ADW EX. The side scrolling and the app drawer are very fast. Now I just need to get used to where my apps are and I'm almost there.
The non-noob friendly way requires ADB which you install with the SDK. The hard part is setting up the SDK if you don't know how to follow the steps. Otherwise, the app is very simple to use and it helps you debug the phone if you have issues.

Don't forget to install ADWNotifier so you get that little bubble next to your icon on how many emails, texts, missed calls, etc. Its pretty handy and its free. Doesn't work for some apps because of the way they do notifications but it works for the important ones.
