depends. a larger battery has a larger footprint.
I do like the larger batteries, but that means I have to compromise where I take it. cant shove it in my pants pockets. which generally limits where I use it.
with my current Nexus 6P battery life is great to where I dont need an extra battery pack, but with my former Nexus 5 which needed a charge every 3 hours, I lugged everything around in a backpack.or a nice work bag.

I use an Anker power bank. Not sure the exact model but its fast and holds a charger for a long time.

My Ringke case just came. Such a good inexpensive bumper. I got clear.
Can they be used to buy gift cards (ex. Shell, Best Buy, Starbucks, etc.)? Use it on discounted (?) gift card and then buy portable charger somewhere else if eBay doesn't have what you're looking for.

Amazon suspends sales of Blu phones for including preloaded spyware, again
This keeps happening
July 31, 2017
Blu, a Miami-based budget Android phone company, has been suspended from selling on Amazon after cybersecurity experts detailed how software preloaded onto its devices collects sensitive user data and sends it overseas, according to CNET. Kryptowire, a Virginia-based security firm, said last week during the BlackHat security conference in Las Vegas that spying software from Chinese company Shanghai Adups Technology was still present on certain Blu handsets. The software leaves users vulnerable to remote takeovers and having their text messages and call logs recorded, as well as other forms of discrete data collection.
"Because security and privacy of our customers is of the utmost importance, all Blu phone models have been made unavailable for purchase on Amazon.com until the issue is resolved," Amazon said in a statement to CNET. Last week, Blu denied any wrongdoing and said in a statement of its own that it "has several policies in place which take customer privacy and security seriously.” The matter is particularly sensitive for Amazon because Blu was an early partner for the retailer’s Prime Exclusive Phones program. That program promotes Amazon and third-party products and services via lockscreen advertisements in exchange for Prime member discounts on budget devices. Blu no longer shows up on the list of supported devices.
This is not the first time Blu has gotten into trouble for skirting both US privacy regulations and Amazon’s marketplace rules. Blu was suspended back in October after Kryptowire first discovered Adups’ spyware on the the Blu R1 HD, the best-selling phone on Amazon and the company’s most popular model. Adups called the implementation of tracking software a “mistake” at the time and removed it from the R1 HD and the Life One X2 models. However, this time around, Kryptowire discovered similar software, which was collecting device identification data and even location data from cell tower IDs, loaded onto slightly more expensive Blu phones.

Question for the android experts here.
Have a Note 4. Sometimes the default texting app/program has some weird lag and freeze up...especially if it's receiving texts as I'm typing one. Is this normal or is there a fix or maybe I should try a 3rd party texting app?
Android 6.0.1 Non-rooted

^it's a mini computer. try turning it off and on again.
if that doesnt fix the lag, it might be the software (skinned OS that is almost 2 versions behind)

What is really great is WhatsApp....it has immediately fast response and immediate sending....if only every text app can be as fast as that. Thankfully most use that....

^so it might be samsung's messenger app drawing too many resources.
(if you can, send feedback to Samsung!)
whenever an app crashes for me, i simply send feedback and the apps usually gets fixed pretty quickly.
(I try to explain what I was doing and how the app crashed, sometimes i include screenshots and or logs.)

Thanks!
Been doing some google-search and seems a few others have similar issues with the Note 4 texting lag.
I've been also looking for any guide to "optimize" and speed up Note 4/Android OS as well. Usually when I buy a new laptop for myself or friend or when I build a desktop, I immediately pull up Windows 7/10 optimization guides to take out clutter/bloatware and take out privacy issues and cleans up the OS nicely. So I'm hoping to find similar guides/fixes for Android where I can trim the fat and speed things up
^^Thanks for AZuser as well for the links!!!

I had a Note 4 for 2 years and loved it. Use Textra though. I even paid the premium because it was so good. The stock messaging app was always too clunky for me.

Awesome, I'll checkout Textra....
I was always behind the times in my own phone tech (had one of those slide out keyboard phones with no smart/touchscreen until like 2 years ago when I finally "upgraded" to the Note 4 and hoping to keep the Note 4 for long time to come)
It's honestly hard for me to imagine how so many people get the newest/latest phone every year!

I miss my Note 4. I have an S7 Edge and as predicted a week in I'm hating only having one battery. I could get another Note 4 but the software on the S7 Edge is pretty nice and I don't want to shell out more $. As for typing on the Note 4, the Google Keyboard is way better than the Note 4 stock one. I'd def check it out.

Just downloaded Textra. Can you change the background?

To white, black, or day dependent (white day, black night). Didn't see anything about wallpapers in the background.

Textra is amazing. Been using it since it came out almost. Love the fact that you can also set it to auto download all the images people send you.

Yup been awesome except....I need a new battery likely for my Note 4 now!!!!
Basically phone started shutting off at 30%....then at closer to 50-60%. And now it'll randomly shut off at even upper 80%! Sometimes it restarts itself and goes into a never-ending boot cycle where it shows the Galaxy Note 4 black screen again and again....
Researching online it shows that this may be due to bad battery. Many seem to like Anker as a great battery for the Note 4 so I might try that out.....

^I concur Anker in Note 4 works very well and they have a great customer service.

Looks like Amazon Prime will save the day again.....but also mulling over OEM battery...which on Amazon Prime is like $15 and ANker is like $16......
Might have to upgrade to something else soon, my nexus 6 didn't make the cut for Android O.
My wife's Nexus 5x, a year old that gets Android O... well she just recently did this to it.
Thankfully the screen assembly is only $35, totally worth it esp. with Android O coming. First screen I've ever replaced, it was a breeze...

The specs on the essential phone are impressive, Dual 13MP camera/4k, but @$700 I can't justify it. Are they really getting rid of the 3.5 headphone jack? The wife's Nexus 5x I purchased from Ebay in June last year set me back only $239. I think if I start seeing the Pixel XL close to that sometime soon I might go with that. Although I will miss the wireless charging on my Nexus 6.

just like cars, i never buy phones that just release, because of price. after a year or so, you'll be able to find deals.
the Pixel phones will be ready for deals, and could probably find them $200 off...so $400-500 give or take.
there was a super nice deal that tmobile is throwing; LG G6 and LG v20 for $250 EACH!!!!! but requries you to play the game...ie; throw it on finance plan, get gift card, pay off finance plan with gift card = $250 each

I wonder if they'll make a special Oreo cookie in the shape of Bugdroid like they did with Kitkat. I want one.

Considering how many different types of Oreo they sell these days, it's a given that there will be an Android special. But I doubt that it will be in the shape of the Android.
NOTE 8 or V30? Or wait for something better within the next 6 months? I'm on Note 4, it's getting quite sluggish but I love it.
