So I just noticed after running AOKP for a few days now, the ROM hasn't actually been fully utilizing Hardware Acceleration. If you check the box to "Force GPU" in the developer section you'll see a noticeable increase in smoothness in comparison to AOKP without it. You can also force Hardware Acceleration by deleting "libGLES_android.so" in the "/system/lib/egl/" folder or removing a line of code from "egl.cfg" (also in the same folder). Checking the Force GPU option is the easiest but if you want to be sure, then delete the libGLES_android.so. Some ROMS already do this tweak and I was under the impression AOKP did until I checked it myself. (This tweak also only applies to phones with the PowerVR GPUs.)

Whatz up... been hella busy here on the North side!
Bought my girlfriend a Galaxy II a couple weeks ago, white with a pink case... LOL

She loves it! So I know you do too... its like a frakin mini tablet!
How have you been and what have you been up to?
So I got bored of my all black Diztronic TPU case for my Galaxy nexus and picked up an SGP Neo Hybrid Infinity White Case:

Droid Life did a review of it with a better view of it on the phone:
XDA Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1427936
Its made for the GSM Nexus but if you shave the volume button a little and stretch it out a little it'll fit the Verizon Nexus. It feels a little more slippery than the Diztronic and the plastic surrounding makes it feel cheap but it looks really nice on the phone.
Then there's also this $5 TPU bumper case I was about to buy:

My brother picked up a black and a white Galaxy S II. Both international versions as he couldn't decide which color he wanted. lol. I think he's sticking with the white though. Helped him root and flash Resurrection Remix and then HyDrOG3NICS which is a derivative of AOKP. Was comparing it with my Nexus and for some reason it didn't feel as smooth as my Nexus which is why we flashed two ROMs to see if there would be a difference. It might be due to Franco's kernel but for a freshly installed ROM, it didn't feel as smooth. The ROM could've been building up cache and what not but the Exynos Processor didn't blow my phone away. Maybe the ROM needed a few more optimizations.
Oh if anyone is interested in buying a Black Galaxy S2 let me know. He's trying to sell it or trade it for something.

getting bored of my TPU case too. It's been great, just the material I'm looking for, but that case looks good CGFeb.
i tried adfree now i'm using another one i forgot
but either way both dont get rid of angry birds space apps! But for some reason I can pause the game and resume and the ad goes away.
On another note...
say i download an apk for the hunger games online is there anyway to add it to play books? I wanna try the book out but I really dont feel like paying 5 bucks haha. I'd rather rent it, but sometimes its just good to have it on the phone. I found a download but thats just in its own app, play books is much cleaner. If i cant whatever, just wondering if theres a way to add books to play books errr not so legally.

I thought this was too hilarious to not post:

TL;DR: Guy goes to Microsoft Store to do Windows Phone Challenge with his Nexus. Task was random but the guy wins any way. Microsoft store makes up an excuse and says he lost.
Someone from Microsoft also contacted him saying basically to come back for a rematch instead of giving him the prize he already won. LMAO.

Apparently the situation above happens a lot with Microsoft reneging on their contest rules. Just this one was posted on Reddit and caught a lot of attention.

Just saw this. Sorry about the hassle...come back for a rematch on a random challenge!

They should just get rid of the contest already. The scenarios they set up are so rigged and the fact that they pre-set their phones and live tiles makes the whole tests retarded. What they should've done is, if they were so confident about their platform, is have the contestants decide what to test fastest of.
On another note, Microsoft stores are giving away free Windows phones for your old phones contract free. If you have a smartphone you were planning to get rid off, you can walk into the store and lose the challenge on purpose. The phone just has to turn on and be able to complete a phone call. They said its good up to the 29th or whenever they exhaust their phones.

You can choose from a Focus S, Lumia 700, HTC Radar, HTC Titan, and HTC Trophy. People on slickdeals are already taking advantage of this and trying to resell on eBay. I was thinking of bringing my HTC Wizard with WM 6.5 and doing the same thing to resell. Lol.

I'm so tempted to get rid of my Droid 3. Everytime I want to do something it tells me Download size requires Wi-Fi.
I don't even think I recieved an update since I bought the phone. I'm running 2.3.4
Researching on how to Root and all that.

If you're still having problems and under contract, bring it to a Verizon store and explain to them what is happening. They should be able to swap it for another Droid 3 or better if you do it right.
Samsung Skyrocket ICS build leaked on RootzWiki:

Flash it using Heimdall or Odin. (I prefer Heimdall for my flashing as it has a safer flashing method in comparison to Odin.)

Yea those contests are pretty biased.
Anyways I wonder if I should trade in my Original iPhone for one... Then again I can't make a call since it is deactivated.... And I cant quite fit my iPhone 4 micro sim in it...
Anyone running the Franco Nightly Kernels on the Nexus? More specifically, r110. If you aren't you really are missing out. My phone is ridiculously fast right now. I don't know what tweaks he made but I'm guessing that the overclock he made on the GPU is making the Nexus way more responsive. I also forced Hardware Acceleration in AOKP per my previous post but man my Nexus is flying like its never done before. Battery life seems to be even improved as well especially during idle where it'll drain only about 2-3% overnight with Autosync on. I don't know how to explain it but his kernel is amazing.
OnDemand is the default governor for his new Nightlies but said his custom Hotplug governor is stable and can be used to save even more battery life. It basically acts like the Interactive governor AND turns off CPU1 when the phone is idling enough instead of just when the screen turns off. Testing it now for stability and so far so good.
Temple Run is now in the Market:

Never got the appeal of this game but eh I guess I'll give it ago since I just finished Angry Birds Space. lol. Been hooked on Draw Something for the time being and it works great on the big screens. Wish I had a proper stylus though like the Galaxy Note instead of the cheap capacitive stylus I'm currently using.
