Washington Redskins Safety Sean Taylor Shot

Washington Redskins Safety Sean Taylor Shot

http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/...n-taylor-shot/

Pro Football Talk is reporting that Taylor is "fighting for his life." Taylor was at his home in Florida Sunday night. His home was burglarized and he was shot by an intruder.

NBC 6 in Miami reported that there was a burglary and shooting at Taylor's home, although NBC 6 erroneously reported that Taylor is a "former" Redskins player.

The Miami Herald reported that a man was shot at a home owned by Sean Taylor, although it does not identify who was shot or say that it's the same Sean Taylor who plays for the Redskins.

Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was shot at his Florida home Monday morning, sources tell WSVN-TV in Miami.

The Redskins free safety was in surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital where he is listed in extremely critical condition.

Taylor, who had on the Redskins' injured list for the second straight week due to a right knee sprain, was shot in the leg and the bullet reportedly struck the femoral artery. The incident occurred at his home in the Palmetto Bay section of Miami.

MIAMI (AP) - Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was in critical condition after he was shot at his Florida home Monday, police said.

Miami-Dade County police officers were dispatched to Taylor's home at about 1:45 a.m. and found him shot. He was then airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said. He didn't know where on Taylor's body he was shot.

A brief statement from the Redskins said Taylor was undergoing treatment at the Miami hospital and that police were investigating. His family has asked that no information about his condition be released at this point, said hospital spokeswoman Lorraine Nelson.

Taylor has a home in the Miami suburb of Palmetto Bay that he bought for $900,000 two years ago.

Taylor, 24, is in his fourth season with the Redskins after playing at the University of Miami, where he was an All-American in 2003. He leads the team with five interceptions but has missed the last two games with a knee injury.

In 2005, Taylor was accused of brandishing a gun at a man and repeatedly hitting him during a fight that broke out after Taylor and some friends went looking for the people who had allegedly stolen his all-terrain vehicles.

Taylor reached a deal with prosecutors last year after they agreed to drop felony charges against him. He pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors in the assault case and was sentenced to 18 months probation.

The man, Ryan Hill, also sued, seeking at least $15,000 in damages. Hill suffered bruising to his body, incurred medical expenses and lost wages because of the fight, the lawsuit said.

Hope hes alright. Seems like more and more athletes keep getting robbed in their own homes. Sean Taylor is an amazing player I hope he recovers quickly and hopefully be healthy for next season(obviously football doesnt mean a damn thing right now though). I heard he was put through 6hrs of surgery and is still in a coma.

From what I understand Sean Taylor is as close to death as you can be right now, and it is getting worse.

From flatlining on an operating table, twice, to being somewhat alert, are two extremes I can't imagine how his family and friends could be handling right now.

He was the victim of a home invasion.

I guess sleeping in his own bed in his own home puts him in bad company...

Where did he flee to exactly?

Sucks. Just heard the news.

On a side note: Is there a designated douchebag for every death story who doesnt give a shit that someone is dead/dying? Just wanted to know the rotation ahead of time...

not that I agree with Bent, but I'm sure he's referring to the people he hangs around with. If you hang with the wrong people trouble will eventually come knocking at your door.

RIP Sean Taylor

We'll learn more about what actually happened, but I believe 8-10 days ago his place was broken into again. From what I heard someone broke into his place, went into his bedroom and shot twice. That doesn't sound like a random occurrence.

I don't know the guy personally, but that does sound like he was involved with something he shouldn't have been. Not saying he deserved to die, but it wasn't like he kept himself out of a bad situation.

I hate how the media is throwing him under the bus/or saying that they're not surprised that this happened, that's a bunch of BS. All you read about in the articles is about his "bad" past, the dude died and they still hint at the fact that he was involved with a bad crowd. I don't know, this whole situation sounds sketchy... it almost sounds like the shooter came in to target Taylor...

From listening to his friends/family on the radio here in VA it sounded like he was a good guy, definitely a great football player, but the media likes to write about the negatives. Apparently the whole ATV thing was nothing like what the media wrote, apparently the people he confronted were the ones with guns and what we weren't told was that Sean's house was shot up (20 some rounds) after the incident.

It's just sad...

No but two DUI's, firing an AK47 in public, repeating to pistol whip someone, and even issues at Miami might.

I have carried the text under my name since he SPIT in the bucs face in the playoff game.

It is annoying for those who think he was a victum.

OK so 8 days before your house is broken into and they don't take anything they just go through your safe?

You sleep with a maccedi under your bed

You have prior bad acts

They bust your door (which is locked) down to shot you in the leg once only firing twice?

They don't shoot your girl who is right there?

Just sounds strange to me

I do feel sorry for his family and especially his child but I don't think he had nothing to do with it.

Not a lot. But he did score the hardest hit I've ever seen. Against a punter. In the Pro Bowl.
