Not bad at all. It's not that coupe-like though. It's to clost to the A6... like a swoopy A6.

Just slap a Audi grille on the front of the CLS and alter the headlights...and BOOM A7.

Not very original.

Although it looks good, I'd still take the CLS over that.

I agree, and disagree. I think it's obviously influenced by the CLS. However, the CLS is swoopier, and much more curvy. I think the CLS pulls off the look better thant he A7 does. Though I think the A7 looks good, it looks like what the A6 could/should be; a sexy sedan. I think the CLS looks like a sexy coupe with two to many doors tacked on to the back. Out of the two, I'd take the CLS in a heartbeat.

So won't this cannabalize the A6 sales? Isn't it just a sexier looking A6?

I would imagine the coupe-like swoop on the rear would cut off a little bit of headroom for the back passengers, but yeah.. I dunno.

I guess if Mercedes can do it, so can Audi

Assault of the Audis - - A7 coupe-like four-door due in ’08, next-gen A8 in ’09 - - Source: Autoweek

Audi’s product expansion continues unabated, with a so-called four-door A7 coupe in the wings, followed by the next-generation A8.

The A6-based A7, as shown in this computer-enhanced shot, will give Volkswagen’s luxury marque a competitor for the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLS. Dramatic styling touches include a chopped roofline, an aggressive nose design with a radical headlight treatment, and the rear door handles hidden within the C-pillar supports. Sources say the A7 should arrive sometime in 2008.

On the heels of the A7 comes the next-gen Audi flagship—this one deriving power from a V12 diesel and a new V10 gasoline engine. Early prototypes indicate the car is about four inches longer than today’s A8, reaching an overall length of 200 inches. Audi is busy developing the 2010 A8 in preparation for a planned launch in late 2009.

Very hot. A great looking CLS competitor. Atleast the rear dears are hidden. I can see this as a four door coupe; the CLS, a sexy sedan.

those wheels look huge for that car, but still it looks awesome!

Love the vents in the front bumper. Perfect for a twin turbo

2009 Audi A7 Spy Photos - - Text by Hans G. Lehmann - - Copyright by Lehmann Photo-Syndication - - Source: http://www.worldcarfans.com/

Audi of Ingolstadt will release this fall a concept car for the upcoming new Audi A7. Although the production version is not expected to be due before 2009 - first mules of the four door coupe have been sighted taking repeated laps at Germany’s race track Nürburgring. The prototype can be distinguished from its wider fenders, bigger tyres and expensive alloy wheels - painted black. The production car will get a luxury style four seat interior, frameless doors, a glass roof, and offer a choice of six different fuel and diesel V6 and V8 engines, and for the top of the line version, the Lamborghini V10.

This new model by Audi will be aimed directly at the competing Mercedes CLS, which became a best seller recently, due to the fact that Daimler-Chrysler is still the only one with this type of car on the market.

Therefore, not only Audi but also Jaguar and Volkswagen are striving to get a rival up and going as soon as possible. Jaguar’s version will be the upcoming XJ replacement and Volkswagen is developing a Passat-based coupe with four frameless doors as well.

The photos are showing: two computer images giving an artist’s impression of how the new A 7 could look like upon its release and two pictures of a prototype mule at Nürburgring.

Essentially an Audi CLS... if they make the A7 like that, it'll be sexiest Audi ever.

Audis are really getting more and more agressive with every generation, pretty soon they will be more agreesive-looking than BMWs. I love it.

I saw a Cayman vs new TT article in a mag the other day and that's exactly what I was thinking. The TT looks easily more modern and more aggressive than the Cayman.

Chrome is too thick around the grille, and I even like chrome, and Audis in general. Other than that, the final product looks good.

that is a beautiful car, I've always liked Audis, big thick grille and all. Car has nice lines and the front end, esp. the headlight treatment, looks great IMO.
