What a fucking douche.

Taylor doesn't have the best record these past couple of years though. That may be where Wilbon draws his claims from.

The spitting incident last year and the arrest for assault...

Still no reason to NOT be surprised by the news.

Taylor hasn't been in any trouble for 2 yrs. And that was the driving charge, the bullshit with his atv's were proven to be trumped up by the prosecutor who was looking to make a name for himself, who was also removed from the case. Taylor served no time and wasn't on any probation for it.

He pleaded no contest and got 18 months. It doesn't say 18 months, but that is what I saw on ESPN last night. It does mention probation though.

From: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3129406

In 2005, he was accused of pointing a gun during a fight over all-terrain vehicles near his Miami home, a legal battle that ended a year later when he pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors and was sentenced to probation.

On another note, Michael Wilbon is being blasted around the web for what many feel to be insensitive comment towards Taylor. His words struck me as if he knew something about Taylor many did not.

Another child doesn't have a father. Sad.

Rest In Peace.

Regardless if he knew anything or not, it was still way too soon to post that without expecting to get blasted.

His Lawyer was on ESPN this morning and said exactly what I wrote. The 18 months was not probation per say.

I didn't say he was a saint, Horney "Taylor doesn't have the best record these past couple of years though". Taylor hasn't been in ANY trouble during that timeframe.

You can go ahead and keep bashing the dead, I saw a man who had some problems and quickly saw what was happening to himself and changed his direction. You're in Texas and a not privy to what I see on the local news about the Redskins.

*cough* horny.. but I only reiterate what I hear on ESPN. And I know they said 18 months probation from the 2005 incident. I'm not bashing the guy, but the story seems odd.

How am I bashing the dead?

I just think that there is more to this story then a guy at home watching the Mickey Mouse club with his family and some random burglar suprises him.

I am no detective but I find things odd:

- 2 break ins in 8 days
- Sleeping with a land clearing knife under your bed
- You lock the bedroom door and a regular burglar breaks it down to get to you
- They only shoot twice after breaking down the door and hit you only in the leg
- Your girl is in the room and they let her witness the entire thing
- They take nothing

I hope for his family sake he did turn his life around for his kid. I can certainly think that he has turned it around but this story is to odd.

Thing that sucks is that he was only 24.

Rolle: Taylor was targeted

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Still in disbelief of his childhood friend's shooting death, Arizona Cardinals cornerback Antrel Rolle vowed Wednesday to make sure Sean Taylor is remembered.

He added he did not believe the killing was part of a burglary gone sour, and that Taylor had many enemies on the streets of Miami.

"This was not the first incident," Rolle said. "They've been targeting him for three years now."

Rolle said many former "friends" had it in for Taylor, who was trying to build a more stable life.

"He really didn't say too much," Rolle said, "but I know he lived his life pretty much scared every day of his life when he was down in Miami because those people were targeting him. At least, he's got peace now."

I would not really call that bashing. Now if I would of said if you spit on people expect to be spat on or hey you beat someone while pointing a gun in their face maybe expect payback in the form of being shot, maybe.

I think we agree to disagree. I am not surprised by this unfortunate tragedy because of his past, whether he changed for the better or not.

Soooo, question. If they guy knew this: "They've been targeting him for three years now." and "Down South, where we're from, there were many people targeting Sean, a lot of jealousy, a lot of angry people."

Then why in the fuck would he still continue to go down there?? That article just makes him sound really stupid.

Just scored tickets to the game on Sunday. I have mixed emotions though, on the one hand I'm excited to be going to the game. But on the other hand, it's a somber feeling, like I'm going to a memorial service or a funeral.

Actor Calls Taylor a 'Hero' for Saving Niece

Somebody told me about this earlier today:
http://www.wtopnews.com/index.php?nid=293&sid=1300854

Actor Calls Taylor a 'Hero' for Saving Niece
November 29, 2007 - 11:26am

MIAMI, Fla. - Actor Andy Garcia is calling Redskins safety Sean Taylor a "hero."
Garcia is the uncle of Jackie Garcia -- Taylor's girlfriend -- who was in the house with their 18-month-old baby when the NFL star was shot Monday morning. In the family's first public statement, Garcia tells The Miami Herald Taylor's actions saved their lives.

''His heroic action on that tragic night saved their life and is a testament to his humanity and courage,'' Garcia said. "His spirit will live forever, in our hearts and through the legacy of his achievements and the family he leaves behind.''

Jackie apparently hid under the sheets with the couple's baby when Taylor confronted his killer.

The Hollywood star says he will remember Taylor as more than just an athlete.

''Sean was known to many as an extraordinary athlete and unquestionable teammate,'' Garcia said. "To those of us who had the good fortune to count him as a member of our extended family, we will always remember him as a caring and loving individual especially to his new family, his precious daughter Jackie and to the love of his life and mother to his child.''

Jackia Garcia and Taylor met at an exclusive school in Miami-Dade county and later attended the University of Miami together.

For grabbing a weapon and going to the bedroom door to confront the people trying to break in, instead of hiding under the covers with his girlfriend and their kid?

Killing reminds athletes of their vulnerability

'People just hate on us,' says Cavaliers star James

“Hate. It’s just hate,” said Cleveland Cavaliers megastar LeBron James, who can’t go anywhere without being recognized. “People just hate on us because we’re in the position that we are. They say it’s just given to us. They don’t believe we work hard to get where we’re at. So they want to try and take it from us.”

I agree and disagree with his statement. There are athletes who do work hard, but there are also the slackers that are just gifted.

I understand that aspect, if that's what happened in the situation - but i don't see someone who 'seemingly' put him and his family at risk as a hero

A knife was left at his house a week prior to this but yet he kept himself and his family there...i agree with Bent in that most likely there's more than meets the eye in this sad story.

But if i were Andy Garcia, i would prob say the same thing too if my niece was in that situation.
