^I'd guess a street free agent of some sort. Practice squad one week, claimed by another team, cut, rinse repeat

Yes. He will be the first to actually play for three different teams in one season, thus becoming the first player every to catch a touchdown for three different teams in a season as well.

You'd think he'd respect Fisher but we'll see. I see him as a no-nonsense coach too, so it should be interesting.

Longest tenured active coach, player's coach, no nonsense guy. Look how Fisher jettisoned Volek when he acted up.

So the NFL Network's top 100 players countdown is going to start in about an hour, with the final top 10 players to be named. All I know is that Jerry Rice better be in the top 2.

Glad he came in at number one! I have his jersey from his training camp stint with the Broncos, bought it the day he retired.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._by_Jerry_Rice

I don't care how long football goes on for.... I'm pretty confident that for the rest of eternity, Jerry Rice will always have his name somewhere in the NFL record books, even despite the possible 18 game seasons. Hell, even if they go to 22 games/season or something. The man worked out by chasing horses, for Christ's sake. He'd chase it until he caught it, and sometimes that took more than an hour.

Still wish I had that Rice jersey I had from over a decade ago, it's so small that if I put it on now it'd probably rip apart.

Walter payton was indeed the best all-around football player ever.. and also one of the greatest RBs.

but there is no question in many minds who was the best RB that ever played the game...

I loved watching Barry. That dude was nasty. What makes him one of the best, IMO, is he NEVER celebrated when he scored a TD....classy dude.

and that he nearly broke all of the coveted RB records in way less time than most played...

he also had no team (including O-Line) to go along with his talent for help.

he was a one man show if there ever was one.

Yeah I have the utmost respect for Barry Sanders. A very humble guy too. IIRC there was a story about some really young fan who went up to him and said "my dad says you're the greatest player ever" and he just said "That's very kind of your dad to say"

I admire people that talk through their actions and not with their words, especially when it comes to something like football. Speaking of which, anyone notice that Terrell Owens wasn't even on the list?

his attitude and inconsistency keeps him off IMO.

I think as a player he has been great for the most part. He's also a really hard working individual... have you seen his physique?!?! Regardless, he is a cancer. I think it unfairly hurt his chances in this poll, but when its his turn to be a HOF'er I really hope he gets passed up.

<=== check my avatar, that should really explain it all

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Manning is eventually known as the greatest QB of all time.

I know his lack of rings hurts him a little bit, but he's going to have almost every record there is when he's done, he'll have gone to at least to Super Bowls, won one, and can take dudes playing Madden and make them serviceable targets.

No question, awesome video also. I loved going to the Silverdome as a kid to watch Barry, he was so strong on his feet, the guy would never go down. Absolutely one of the best of all time for sure

There's no reason to fire him until after the season ends. It's not going to change anything.

i say give him a shot, but a fresh one.

no sense in dumping an already doomed season on a guy.

the players morale is down... the fans morale is down..cant see them trying their hearts out from here on out and i'd hate to see somebody else take the blame for it.
